New Kameo screens (56k, nice try)

It seems with all screens of this game some look great and some look not so great.

Regardless this is a day one purchase for me.
 
i have seen enough. i hope they dont show/spoil much more.

if only i had the will power to resist checking out these threads :P
 
Don't need any more pictures of the game. Its to the point where I'm spoiled now,I won't run any more video either. The next phase is to own the game,play it to death,then listen in on the trolls as they try to spin whats left of their worthless damage control.:)

Hu, the colossus is *much* bigger than this Kameo monster. No comparison at all.
Unless of course you have never seen a game with a boss monster being bigger than the others...

I know the game looks good in motion from Blim Blim's videos, but these screen caps give me a headache if I look at them too long. They also don't look as good as previous captures with the exception of the first pic.
 
no, that one pic just reminded me of the colossus-game (the scenery, the horse, the big guy...). lord of the rings is also nice.

Nice effects and cool shaders but man this game lacks art direction. The designs are all over tha place. Cant blame them, this game has gone through so much crap, im surprised its finally coming out.

I think the game turned out quite alright ;)
 
It looks much better than current-gen stuff....but is that really reason to gush? There's much better looking stuff on the 360. Maybe not the same genre, but it doesn't matter. Before someone slags me for it, this is just visuals. The game may be a hell of a lot of fun, though I have zero intention of picking this one up. It could be the most addictive game ever. But visually, it is far from wow. This and PD0 get undue praise b/c they were visual abortions before. But just b/c Rare polished a turd doesn't make it gold IMO. Visually underwhelming...still. Now let the hating commence. PEACE.

this pretty much confirms (for me) that The Lord of the Rings films had a huge influence on them.

Actually the Kameo designer mentioned liking the SOC giants in that dutch magazine interview a while back.

Unless we have to climb a giant in Kameo in order to kill him or whatever, liking a game concept does not mean they will be create a complete rip-off.
Some giant boss had already been unveiled back when the game was still on Xbox (giant tree , giant ice monster with hundreds of eyes).
 
Ha, I dont think anyone was implying there was any ripping off going on. LOR, Colosis, mickey mouse, does it really matter what influenced the designers?

Yep, that specific boss monster has been there since at least 2002.

These are some of worse screens released. The game has poor lighting and shadowing, low complexity models, bad textures, bland environments etc.

I wonder if the reason why it looks so bad is because for once Rare is being forced to release a game on time?
 
Rare titles have never lacked in the visuals department. It's usually on the game structure, or lack thereof, that they're usually at their weakest.

Their games as of late are marred with cliche gameplay ideas, copycat characters, tired plot themes, by-the-book levels and game progression. I'll be impressed if they can break free from their game designer block era to produce something truly distinctive that outpaces other games in their corresponding genres but at this time I sincerely doubt it.

Have you seen the TGS vids?
I've been hyped for this game ever since I saw the transformation it undertook at last E3. I'm glad people are finally seeing what I saw in the game.

Kameo and Dead Rising for a long time have been the most exciting Xbox 360 games for me. I must say though I'm now starting to get hyped about PDZ and just Rare in general.
 
When I first saw that giant shot I thought of SotC as well...not because OMG big baddie = SotC but because of the shading, the enemy posture, the camera angle, and the character pose (silhouette against the sun while riding a horse)

It's odd that you would post such a thing since it doesn't actually apply to this thread. Nobody is acting that way...
 
Nice. That second and third shot look freakishly surreal. I Love It! :)

Seems they just keep adding more and more effects every time I see it. When are the gonna stop? (not that I want them too).
 
If you want to get a few minor glimpses into the graphics of Kameo, play Conker. However, don't buy it, because its gameplay is mediocre. Gorgeous game, and surpasses SFA in every way.
 
Pleeeeeaaaase give them time to clean this up MS. I realise with the amount of time this has taken they don't deserve any, but some things just stand out as so much worst than the rest.

The crates for example are laughably horrendous! Forget last gen, it looks like something the N64 could have pulled off. Now don't jump in and accuse me of caring too much about pointless thing, it's not just about crates. It's about the poor textures/models that pop up in too many of the screens and immediately draw my eye, when I'd like to just focus on the good stuff around them.

Maybe Rare dont need more time though, perhaps all this is well on course to be fixed before the game ships. In which case, no problem. I have to say though, I think a lot of the negative reactions would go away if they had AA on, it's really holding things back.
 
The hell? Which crates are you talking about? They look perfectly fine. The textures are of decent resolution and they are more than a simple cube.

More geometry (modeled cross bars and everything) and a decent texture application. I must admit that this box seems to be straight out of Jak and Daxter, but that's hardly a bad thing in the context of this large game.

Looks awesome, and nicely epic. I'm not buying one at launch, but damn it's going to be tough to hold out long with stuff like this landing.

Hell, X05 might just put me in line on the 21st at this rate.

You said N64 game, though. That's a fully modeled box, with polygonal cross bars and everything. It has actual depth and detail. It's not just a blurry cube.
 
Ah come on man, can't you tell an exaggeration when you see one? I'll add smilies next time. It wouldn't matter even if it was beyond what last gen could do if it was still standing out so starkly against the rest of the game, which is my point.
 
BTW, why do those two smaller screens look so much better than the rest? Is it a trick? They almost look like the have AA on, they're what I imagine the other screens would look like if they did.
 
Ho btw, I've just been told that the TGS version of Kameo did not have all the graphical features activated/implemented yet. If true (and it's a very trustworth source), then I can't wait to see it at X05 :)

Downsampling screens typically make them look crisper and in this case also helps hide the aliasing.
