New Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition Update is out! (Huge Update)

I feel the hunger meter was essential to Minecraft evolving beyond a mere Lego like tool.

There was very little "point" to the game other than building, and if thats what you like admittedly Creative mode is superior anyways and thats probably why they made that... for those that would not like the new hunger meter

I mean before hunger you could "win" at minecraft by just digging down 3 blocks and putting a block of dirt over your head. With the hunger meter you cant just plunk down and do nothing, even nights are more dangerous because if your not paying attention and your health gets low and your stuck inside a small house at night, it can get intense as your health bar slowly decreases
Hunger doesn't decrease if you stand still, so you can still dig down 3 blocks and put dirt over your head and survive foreeeeveeeeer

Also hunger only kills you on Hard difficulty. Everything lower, it just whittles your health down to a certain point.

It's not a kiddy game per se, but the game is easily accessible for young ages. Its combination of lego-like building and exploration are aspects that kids take to very easily, and they end up almost mastering the ins and outs of the game mechanics pretty quickly.

My little cousin has seen and done all that there is to do in the PC version, but him and his friends continue to play. Same with a friend of mine's little brother, apparently that's all they like playing still. It definitely is a huge hit with the younger crowd.

My daughter nerdgasmed when she hit X for the first time and saw all those blocks. I love Minecraft 360 for 2 reason - it's incredibly fun for me and for her, but more importantly it serves as a great carrot-on-a-stick. As in, "Do your homework and eat your veggies, and you can play some more."

Why are so many posts talking about kids? Is this a kiddy game? I'm serious. Never played minecrafts.

My 6 and 10 year olds have waaaaay more time in the game than I do (and that's not coutning their time on the Android version, which has creative mode already). It's very accesible and is a great "thinking" type game for kids. I highly recommend it. In fact, if I had to pick one game for them to play it would be this one. They can play together too.

My 6 year old lives this game. It's all that he talks about. Mario went by the wayside when this came out and is still chilling in no play land.

I was very surpsised to note how little explanation of crafting was necessary for my 6 year old to start building.

Most of the time they play on Peaceful mode. The bad guys are kinda scary. They've been wishing for Creative mode since the game came out because they enjoy the Android version so much. Can't play 2 player there though.

Mario and Pokemon now pretty much dont exist. I'm happy, but the degree to which I see some kids addicted to this is kinda scary. At least it fosters creativity.
