Nvidia's specs says minimum 850W.
The Strix and TUF have support brackets in the box. No idea about Founders.

I'll try to stay away… I want one but I think I would have to upgrade the CPU and screen to take advantage of this thing.

Meh my 3090 ftw3 is still great for now, I'll reevaluate when the 4090 Ti gets announced.

I'd love to see what evga's prototype design looked like though now that the 4090 has been announced.

It runs 60-90 fps maxed out now? It was the first game I finished on 3080 and it ran around 3-40. I had it locked to 30. But I played 4k, quality dlss and maxed settings

I always find funny those "don't be x shill" comment used to somehow try to discredit any reply to a poor argument.
There's competition in the tech world and if they don't come out with a better product, their competitor will. Lovelace as been rumored for 1 year now, if you bought you card a few month ago well too bad for you.
Also 3090 are sold around 850$ now not 1600$ like a brand new 4090. 3090 will still beat the pricier 4080 in raw performance and you also have more VRAM.

With DLSS, yea. Settings should also be considered. I tried the settings from Gamer's Nexus video. ALso tried DF's settings. They work pretty well for me. I'm not using Raytracing. Not worth it IMO

BTW I'm using a 5800x, and 32 GB of 4000 speed RAM. I don't have a 4k monitor. So I run at 1440p.

I was never going to buy top tier so I can just laugh. For now.... Mid tier pricing this gen could be stupid, too. Pray for amd...
 
As somebody who runs too high refresh rate panels this could get me the performance that I would want to max out completely everything and run it with next to no frame drop from 120 or 144. Once I can get a grounding on trying to secure one I will gladly sell my Gigabyte Vision 3090 to those who are serious

I understand what you're saying. I still have an iPhone 11, I don't see why I would need an iPhone 14.
I'll much rather upgrade my PC.

Problem is, I think I would have to upgrade my whole PC to not feel like everything else is under-specced.
 
Well seems buying a 3080 at around 600 this July wasn't the worst decision. Damn these prices. Even though I can easily afford it there is really no need. Once Raytracing is a bigger deal, maybe, will likely wait till 50xx series to upgrade or whatever they put out in 2 years.

Depends on what resolution you're gaming at on your PC. If it's 4k or above then as long as you have a mid to high end CPU from the last ~4 years you should be fine.

I'll be taking my 3900X forward with me, no need to do a complete rebuild until the next generation of consoles arrive as far as I'm concerned. Games will be built around the CPU's in the ps5/series consoles so nothing to worry about.

And if you're building from scratch there are also a bunch of 2xxx and 3xxx series cards to choose from. Hell, if you're that fucked off with nvidia and their pricing then go with AMD.

The xx80 and xx90 cards have never been geared towards the budget concious system builder but I guess people are entitled whiny bitches these days so this is the result.

People who want and can afford these cards will buy them, end of.

Prices insane as expected. It's weird because you can see what happened to pricing/demand after the mining crash, I guess we will see how many of these they can sell.

Crazy that DLSS is splintered now. A 3.0 version which will be in a small handful of games, while AMD will just keep growing Fidelity FX.

Didn't think AMD would be helping my 3070ti longer than Nvidia.

DLSS 3 support will be far too sporadic to rely on, DLSS been out for half a decade and is still rare as fuck in games. 4090 is gonna fly off the shelves at the $2000 AIBs charge though.

That is the "smart" corporate thing to do but I hate it. Really hope it won't be the case.
They gotta make inroads with mindshare like they did for Ryzen, and just matching isn't going to help. Chiplets should increase their ability to undercut... but this all makes me nervous.

Lets, be honest. Its only nutters like me that will buy these cards at these prices so I expect that Nvidia are going to struggle with selling them. the hype doesnt seem to be as high, but maybe thats because I'm not at work today to get wrapped up in it.

The prices of these new cards don't say progress, they say maniacal greed.
(And it gets worse when you see the euro prices).

These cards are the absolute worst products to launch during the Europ energy crisis (that's only just beginning). Nvidia is fucking crazy if they think these cards will sell for those prices at this point in time.

Nope, people aren't buying new cards at that price. The GTX 1060 is still the most used card on Steam today (and was widely more used during the bulk of 2xxx and 3xxx generations).

Only a few rich people (and miners) can afford to pay cards at 3x the old prices.

GPU mining is dead, for real this time (please quote me in a year when I'm wrong so I can sink into a deep depression). Covid is done-ish, but we've got inflation causing a cost of living issue but an expected recession on the other end of that.

Dollar price divided by exchange rate, with VAT added on. Pound has taken a beating in the past two years sadly.
 
CP2077 running at 20FPS without DLSS on a 4080 (supposedly). Is that right? That's even lower than a 3090 (4K + RT).

It's actually not a smart business play when you consider AMD represents less than 10% of Steam Survey's dedicated GPUs Vs. Nvidias >90% (and has for more than a decade), but it's what they'll do anyway. They clearly don't have any interest in making inroads in the dGPU space. The fact that they're not preempting Nvidias launch with their overview announcement also tells you everything you need to know about their performance--that they're not even playing in the same ballpark. Nvidia is of course already aware of this from leaks at their component, testing, and manufacturing partners, which is why they priced them where they did.
