i can no longer tell who is joking and who isn't on GAF anymore.

We need a secret sign or something

Fuck. These screens aren't the best actually (they don't look sharp...lower res?), but god damn, it's going to be tough not buying a 360 because of this game. I bought Morrowind when it was released for xbox and played it to death. Fast forward to now and I decided to get the GOTY edition and I'm hooked again! My PC won't be able to handle Oblivion and games aren't a high enough priority for me to justify buying a 360 at launch, but...dammit!

Edit: yeah thorns is correct. Cybamerc has some uh, interesting views. Needless to say I thank the GA gods every day for the ignore function. :lol

look at his post history.. :)

the game is looking great by the way!

This game should be added to the games with great art thread.

Only no one post any of the creature designs!

Does anyone know what the game runs at? locked in 30FPS? 60FPS?

These GFX + Stable Frame Rate = OMFG! HEAVEN!

Environments look great, characters not so great. But hey, I can cover him in a cool armor so it's ok. :D

not the best oblivion screens, these have most likely been upscaled. Nice to see some new areas though.
Beautiful and technically very good. I'm thinking of the forests especially

Yeah. I think that Oblivion thread where he argued about teleporting was one the most idiotic threads in the history of GAF.

Anyway, these shots look nice. I bet it will look amazing on a big HD screen.

Bethesda was at the forefront of using pixel shading in Morrowind, the water in that game was amazing. I'm not liking the look of it in Oblivion right now.....but it's just one screen with some not so good sun reflection. I hope it looks and flows a lot better in-game.

If they're from the X360 version, and it's rendering at 720p natively, then they've actually been downscaled (1024x576).

What is with all the screenshots in that size?

That maybe so but it looked so out of place in Morrowind. I mean, I'd have preferred worse looking water that matched the rest of the game's more uh, modest, graphics.

When can we expect a pc release? I am fairly excited for this game mainly because I have a morrowind craving of late and looking at these screens pushes me over the edge.

I mean the source is probably some dvd or video, they look blurry and the resolution is quite strange, this is not these images' native resolution

That looks awful.

Sigh, I hope no one needs to be reminded what other wide-open scope games look like this gen, this is well beyond them.

Heck, they have been working on it for 3 years, and there are 1000+ NPCs. Thats a NPC model a day. So to Fing bad if some of the characters arent artistically pleasing enough for guys.

BYW, Cant wait. The game looks epic, content rich and most of all Fun.

Most of it looks nice, except for the water and the ultra bloom lighting.

Not much to see. The guy is just wandering around a cave punching at rats and one zombie.

I did notice that the zombie didn't catch on fire when it was hit with the fire spell like it showed in the older videos.

I think it was a zero-duration fire damage spell being used.

My favorite shot is that cathedral in the gloomy woods. I have no idea where it is in the game, but it's a gorgeous shot :)

Looks really nice. I love the Oblivion look.

However, is it only me or do the textures look blurrier than usual?

Erm- am I missing something, or could pass as an Xbox title. I'm sure its great and all, but next-gen? Sorry, no.

No it couldn't pass as an Xbox title.

Yes, you're missing something.

And also, this is several times the size of any RPG we'll likely to play next generation.

First of all, everything -- and I mean everything -- in the environment has that next-gen sheen we've come to expect from the high-definition Xbox 360 experience.

Yep, this may very well be the reason I pick up a Xbox 360 this fall versus next year.. depends on how its gonna run on my current PC. Time will tell.

The REAL question is how many bugs will be in this version. Bethesda has sloppy code usually that often ruins the great atmosphere they create. I hope they take their time and have learned from Elder Scrolls III.

Bingo

I am going to sit back see if there are any hardware bugs in the 360 and make sure oblivion isn't buggy and if its all good then i am in at Australian launch.

I'm wondering what kind of filtering they're using. Also curious about AA, it doesn't look like 4x.
