I think it would have been funnier if in the 2nd panel you see him getting struck by lightning and in the 3rd the clouds "Grandfather sends his greetings!"

:lol I like the edits you guys made, but the original is funny too, in (as someone mentioned) the Family Circus parody type of way.

PBF = still my favorite comic strip (online or otherwise).

And to finish, a panel with Edgar Winter and Yngwie Malmsteen playing double neck guitars with a bunch of explosions in the background.

And some boobies. Alright...lots of boobies.

It was good for a chuckle, he's certainly done better.

Kurt Cobain sucked.

Oh I get it. I didn't like something you like, so you diss something I like, and I'm suppossed to get all outraged and fanboyish. Nah, not gonna happen :/

P.S. The second edit makes it wicked funny.

Haha that was great. Perry Bible strikes again!

However, I did find the custom edits funnier. The "just kidding" part seemed kinda tame for PB. :D

The last panel is the best part guys, I can't see how anyone can find it funny without that.

It's just not in keeping with his usual cynical and mean-spirited nature. It kind of feels like a cop-out.

The GAF edit (without the last frame) is far funnier.
The original leaves you with an "aww...that's nice...ha..."
The editted leaves you with "haha...wtf?"

That said, it should've ended with "The pig says, my wife is a slut".
(points to whoever catches that quote.. )

Agreed, but without the last panel it's corny. It's a no-win situation, making it a bad comic.
Honestly, the last three PBF haven't been very good at all, but I love all the others.

It's too easy to use dark humor with this one... and he HAS done it before.

That's why I like the last panel. It's lighthearted humor.

I definitely thought the exact same thing of many people in this thread when I first saw it -- would have been better without the final panel. PBF is all about twisted humor and leaving little kids in agony. The wink is a nice touch though.

I didn't find it funny until the last one.

"I don't miss you" whoop dee doo. That's not funny, you'd have to be drugged, drunk and shot in the knees to think that's funny.

Even just the use of "Gramps" compared to "Grandpa" or "Grand-dad"...it's absolute genius.

Maybe I'm starting to over-analyze a simple comic...but I think the writer does a good job of choosing his words. I remember the one where the Astronaught fell to Earth. He had an actual name (that wasn't hokey or generic) as did his fellow Astronaught. It made the fall seem like a tragedy, rather than a trivial joke setup.

Again, maybe I'm thinking too much about it.

I never understood the point of the "posting every single update to a popular comic" thing that people here will do for long streaks of time for strips like PA and PBF. Posting, like, the funniest and most noteworthy I can understand, but every single one? Even the mediocre ones that we have to rearrange to really appreciate?

The last panel is hardly a cop out. It could quite possibly be the most sarcastic panel in comic book history.

No, I noticed the last panel said "kiddin" instead of "kidding" - keeping with the colloquial "aw, shucks" humor of "Gramps." It's just so intentionally and awesomely cheesy, in one panel and four words.
