It's the same character, I believe. John Constantine, English occult scoundrel. His own comic is called Hellblazer and has been around for over 200 issues, with runs from Jamie Delano, Warren Ellis, Garth Ennis and (currently) Mike Carey.

The film...doesn't look quite the same. I'm especially worried because when Brian Azzarello recently wrote Hellblazer and stuck Constantine in America it was close to a disaster.
