Ah yes. Best Buy will have the CD+DVD version for I believe $11.99 tomorrow. I will be buying that. I can say with absolute certainty that this is QOTSA's best album. Better than their self-titled, better than Rated R, better than Songs for the Deaf. If you like alternative rock - the good alternative rock from the early/mid 90's that seems to be extinct today - get this album. Nick might be kicked out, but that doesn't stop Josh from carrying on the torch - seriously, he did a near flawless job considering half of the band's songwriting talent is basically gone. Still managed to put out the band's best album.

whats on the DVD
Not sure, but it has to be good. The one that came with Songs for the Deaf had a couple live performances and studio sessions video.

Wow, looks like a lot of people contributed to this album:
Friends also lend a hand. ZZ Top's Billy Gibbons shreds through the reverberating "Burn The Witch," while Garbage's Shirley Manson and the Distillers' Brody Dalle join Homme for a tantalizing threesome on "You Got A Killer Scene."

Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top? :lol Awesome.

It's actually grown on me quite a lot. I'll be picking it up tomorrow (along with M.I.A. - Arular, Dinosaur Jr. - Bug [reissue], Patrick Wolf - Wind in the Wires, and a few others. MASSIVE day tomorrow).

Wind in the Wires is fantastic. Probably my favourite album of 2005, so far.

Brody Dalle is still alive? Lame.

Oh man, this is fucking great. I'm only 3 songs into it, but this is just terrific. This could easily be the second best album of 2005.

Pussies.

This is still getting the Grohl embargo.

I've only listened to a few songs so far...so far so...samey. I'll probably listen to it when someone lets me borrow it or something...but NO BUY.

I thought it was josh sacked the guitarists, nick got annoyed that he didn't discuss it with him, josh fires nick for not respect his authoriteh!

The special edition rocks. Haven't watched the DVD yet, but the case, booklet and general layout is really awesome. Someone put lots of time into this. Excellent work.

Wrong!!!

Songs for the Deaf was their best album for the simple fact that Dave Ghrol was on drums!!! As well more Mark Lanegan. Lullibies is alright. It isn't their best work.

This is a awsome album, i love the finale. I think they like Duran Duran's Chaufer (thats what it sounds like to me) But this is awsome, now i need to buy they're sefl titled cd then i've got them all. Couldnt get the special edition where i was *CRY* but oh well i got it and it rocks.

this album is awesome dudes. it isn't very often that i can enjoy a "new music" release because i truly hate most bands around today (and the only bands i like that are still together releasing new music do it about once every 5 years), but holy crap on a stick queens of the stoneage is right on with this album. i love it

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
I was splooging over this when I got the master in my hands 3 weeks ago. This and 'Deaf' are at the top for me, I can't decide which is better. BTW:

To set the record straight: Nick wasn't "kicked" out. He actually recorded a few songs on the newest record. Him and Josh parted ways because 1) Josh didn't like Nick's constant partying, drug use and alcohol use. 2) Creative differences. This is not the direction Nick wanted to take the band to. But this is QOTSA, this was the only direction they could go, honestly.

Now, Josh debunked rumors of QOTSA being a drug-band. He said, yeah, they've smoked weed before...but what band hasn't? Josh recently suffered a really bad illness where he was coughing up blood and it appears that some blood had built up in his lungs. He is a heavy smoker from what I know, so it could be related. But one thing's for sure, Josh won't be touching any drug for quite a while. :p
