New Rayman DS screen

Rayman 2 DC > *; If you get the chance I highly recommend picking up that version of the game.

I DO agree that the DC version is the best version you can buy, but the PS2 version was a whole lot more detailed. However, being as it was an early PS2 title, it had plenty of hitches. The DC version mostly stuck to the original assets while the PS2 version had quite an overhaul in that regard...it just couldn't hold a solid framerate.

People who have only played Rayman 1 - do not fret, especially if it was Rayman Advance. Rayman 2 is such an amazing game. It was a huge surprise when it hit and was good enough to make me find out more about the team that created it so I could follow them in the future. Michel Ancel's finest work in my opinion. Beyond Good and Evil was amazing, but it's hard to stand up to this game, as it is truly the full package.

Rayman is the only GBA game I regret buying too, and I have more games for my GBA than any other system (except for possibly Playstation, but I have never known how many games I have for that as so many are loaned out). Still, Rayman 2 is very different than 1 and my problems with 1 were the shoddy control and the cramped GBA screen, which may not be as much of an issue with 2. What I have played of 2 seems more playable than Rayman 1 overall.
Thanks, same to you Jason.

Maybe I'll pick it up then as you guys make me feel a little more hopeful. :P I'll at least see if I can give it a try somehow.

Rayman 2 is the closest thing to a pure 3D platformer you'll ever find. Such a fantastic game. Rayman DS based on Rayman 3?

Rayman DS is a port of Rayman 2.

Just a straight port?

Hmm, sucky. Oh well, I guess I'll just stick with my DC version. I couldn't even tell that was Rayman 2 from the pics. :/

I never played Rayman 2, these positive impressions may lead me to pick it up as my 2nd DS game.

You missed out. I tinkered around with it on the N64 and had fun. But I didn't really buy it until years later, when I got a PS2. FANTASTIC game. (And better than Rayman 3, imho.)

Do you have a PS2 (If not, buy one!)?

Get Rayman 2 Revolution instead.

how is it no matter how atrocious a DS game looks a certain um category of people will keep saying ''NICE" or "looking gooddddd!''. :(

I wish people didn't encourage a company to not create better hardware (If the PSP wasn't coming out Nintento would continue to give us incredibly dated hardware in their current monopoly of the handheld market). The touchscreen idea is nifty and I was somewhat impressed by some of the ideas in the big DS video but I will not for a moment say any of the 3D games looks impressive graphics wize in the least. Give me a break

Because DS games generally look like ass in screens, and look fucking awesome in motion, in real life. Much like the GBA before it, actually.

I was neither impressed nor pleased by the SM64 visuals apparent in the pre-release screens, but now that I've played it myself, I think it looks markedly superior to the N64 version. I expect Rayman 2 will look at least as good as the N64 game, in the end (which would be impressive, given that unlike SM64, Rayman 2 was freaking beautiful, on the N64.)

I'm going on a roadtrip to New York this Christmas, I may end up getting the DS version for that reason.

I'm sorry, I thought I might suggest one of the best versions of Rayman 2 possible to play -especially since he asked - instead of a bastardized portable version.

Have you seen an actual, real-life DS in operation? If not, then please refrain from posting again about this subject until you do so.

If you have, I'm not sure that you understand what "impressive graphics" really are, especially considering the context here (hint: low-cost handhelds).

The idea of porting a game to DS seems bankrupt to me. The point of the DS and the major appeal of it is the stylus screen. The only DS stands a chance against the PSP is if its potential is realized; port, by definition, do not realize its potential.

The game looks pretty, but again, I want to see titles that fluidly take advantage of the stylus screen, I don't want to see shoehorned ports.
