New release dates for "hot" new DS RPGS!

Okay. Fairly interested in these, but with the "hot" new RPGS! in the title i was hoping for Final Fantasy III or Magical Vacation 2. No doubt these games will come in good time :)

I don't think anyone expects FFIII anytime soon, we don't even know much about it. >_<

Damnit Square Enix, LISTEN TO YOUR FANS! WE WANT MORE FFIII INFO! :D

Tempest so soon....Q2 indeed :D

I think this pretty much confirms that Team Destiny is behind Tempest...(next-tales speculation to start, eh jarrod?)

That video looked pretty good, but really looked like some sort of early beta tech demo test...thing.

Nevertheless, should any DS RPG hit shores, it will wind up on my shelf.

Team Symphonia
-Tales of Xbox 360

Team Destiny
-Tales of PlayStation 3

Rest of Tales Studio
-console/handhled ports and mobile games

Alfa System
-Narikiri Dungeon DS

Team Legendia
-Soul Calibur 3X

I think Tempest looks very nice indeed.

More strong releases for DS in Japan, I think 2006 is gonna be a big year.

Can someone (Jarrod?) explain the Tales series a bit to me, there are two lines of games pretty much, right?

Symphonia --> Legendia
Destiny 2 --> Rebirth --> Abyss

Something like that?

And which (if either) are working on Tempest- just the rest of the group?

NO!

Symphonia -> Abyss

Destiny -> Eternia -> Destiny 2 -> Rebirth

Legendia -> Tales of the Toilet

Ah, ok. Oops. I haven't paid a lot of attention to Legendia or Abyss, sorry !!

So Legendia is just kind of the odd one out?

Feb - Children of Mana
March - Xenosaga
April - Tales

... maaaaan, the DS has MOMENTUM

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. And they should all see some decent sales (250-400k?). Releases aren't showing any signs of slowing which is good.

There's different development teams for Tales games. After Eternia wrapped up, Wolfteam (later becoming Tales Studio) split into 2 full development teams to co-develop a traditional 2D follow up on PS2 and pioneer 3D Tales on GameCube simultaneously...

Team Destiny
-Tales of Destiny II (PS2)
-Tales of Rebirth (PS2)
-Tales of the Tempest (DS)

Team Symphonia
-Tales of Symphonia (GC)
-Tales of the Abyss (PS2)
-tba (360)

...Tales Studio likely has a smaller dedicated 3rd team as well, handling small budget mobile games and various ports (Phantasia GBA, Symphonia PS2, Eternia PSP). They also work with Alfa System to develop the Narikiri Dungeon spinoff series (on GBC/GBA).

Namco's also developed 2 Tales games themselves internally so far (Tales of the World: Summoner's Lineage GBA and Tales of Legendia PS2).

We only have this video, a character artwork and game logo.

And this pic:

Question: Why would you make a topic about something you don't like just to call it shit in the first post? No need to be an asshole about DS and its games, then make a topic announcing dates for games that you think are going to be shit. That's just plain pointless... unless you have no life of any kind.

Personally, from all the screenshots, artwork, and scans that have been seen, I think Xenosaga I & II looks fantastic. It looks like a great high quality 2D sprite based game with some very nice anime cutscenes and artwork. I can accept that that may not be to everyone's taste, but I agree with the poster who wondered why anyone would make a topic with news about the game just to knock it.

I'm glad it's got a release date (which is pretty soon -- nice to see, though it makes sense since Namco's been releasing media on it pretty regularly), and I hope it comes to America.

I liked the Tales of the Tempest video, but overall, we really haven't seen enough of that game for me to put out an opinion. Nevertheless, I'm delighted the DS is getting an original exclusive Tales game and I hope it's great.

It's made by the people who made the XS anime.... :lol

What about the Tales game for PSP that was announced? I'm hoping that it's a remake of Tales of Destiny 2. If Ubisoft can get that to Europe.... *drool*

There hasn't been a Tales game for PSP announced. Back when it was known as Project Melfes, people thought Tales of Legendia was going to be a PSP game, but it wasn't.

There was a rumor about 'Tales of XXX' for PSP...but we haven't heard anything new yet.

MaestroRyan, there aren't....but you have a PS2 one coming in less than a month :)

It's just fun to poke around anything XS related with the ducky. <3

I too am interested in XSI+II, if not only to see what they add to the ds version of XS2.

Dude, are you SURE you want to know? :lol

Don't forget....

And it seems even NAMCO knows that was terrible, because even though pretty much the ENTIRE Xenosaga the Animation staff is on board working on XS I+II DS, there's a disclaimer on the official site that says "THIS GAME HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH, NO RELATION PLOT OR OTHERWISE TO XENOSAGA THE ANIMATION. THIS GAME IS BASED ON XENOSAGA EPISODE I AND XENOSAGA EPISODE II FOR THE PS2!" :lol
