New Sonic game in development for PSP

Project S is probably this then. Hopefully it's an expanded Mega Collection, new Sonic games just don't do it for me.

Sonic DS isn't even 2D... unless Sonic PSP is a retro collection, there's no chance. Just hope it's not a cheap Sonic Heroes/Shadow the Hedgehog port.

Oh God, PSP-resolution 2D sonic would be so very, very BONERY

However, if it's full of shitty furry-friendly supporting characters and amateurish level design like Sonic Advance 1-3, it can FUCK OFF

Gimme a Sonic 2 remake with crazy 2D and pseudo-3D effects, and a remixed soundtrack.

yeah, youd be stupid to think this was anything other than another shitty 3d sonic game that is still using the godawful dreamcast engine.

I was thinking of a neat way to do a mega collection with improved graphics...

The game starts out with Sonic fighting Robotnic, but it's a trap and Eggman sends Sonic into a time machine that sends him to another time. So now Sonic warps from level to level from all 4 previous 2D Sonic games (S1 to S&K) in a random fashion, and along the way encounters new levels from the future.

Redo the graphics, remix the same music, it would be old skool but still fresh. It would look great in a wide screen PSP format.

I should run Sonic Team...

I read that as Adventure....but Advance? ;_; Dunno~I liked Advance 1 & 2's levels (especially 2's) though I never played 3. They certainly had better levels then alot the 3d games ones.

You know, I like to blast the 2D forevah camp just like any other guy with half a brain, but I'm with Drinky on this one. A 2D Sonic game with some neat 3D effects on the backgrounds and objets (3D rings?) and speedy music would be heaven, specially given PSP's scandalous, high contrast screen.

There has been many years since the last truly great Sonic, and for some reason 2D seems like the way to go.

The 2D ones will probably stay on GBA, it has all a good 2D game needs really, plus you to the DS base with it. If they're doing one for PSP they might aswell make it 3D, if you don't like it you're not obliged to play it, unless you really do like Sonic. Otherwise there's no need to give it this much attention, there's plenty of choices outthere.

Actually, I only played Advance 1 and 3 -- I figured that if the two games that bookended Advance 2 sucked so bad, then logically it must also suck. What makes Advance 2 better, and does it compare to the original Sonic 1-3 in any way? If the game doesn't focus exclusively on Sonic (or at least doesn't have mechanics tuned for any other character than Sonic), color me disinterested regardless. TAILS KNUCKLES ET AL FUCK OFF

Advance was alright, but the original Sonics were on a different level. Advance was also restricted by the resolution and screen size, much like how the GameGear Sonics were.

the graphics style of the sonic advance games is ugly and wrong and un-sonic. sonic as an inept snes game. so i haven't bothered playing them.

Advance 2 is a step up in level design really, though yes there's still elements tailored to Tails/Knuckles/Chocobo/whatever. Same basic engine though, lacking in the superb "physics" which made the Genesis Sonics oh so playable. It's okay is all, which is a definte step up from Advance 1&3. I attribute that to the fact that Sonic Team made Advance 2 themselves, while 1&3 were outsourced to Sega's favorite dumping ground (DIMPS). You'd probably be better served just avoiding it though Doug, and picking up a worthwhile GBA platformer like the Klonoa games.

Well 3 had that teamwork crap brought over from the trash heap known as Heroes so you shoulda known to avoid that! :lol

#2 was alot faster and was much more smoother controlling then the first. There was maybe only one level in 2 I hated~all the rest were darn fun. Only thing thats lame is the boss battles. iirc ALL of them take place in stupid constant screen scrolling to the right levels -_- Great music to!

A rumor in another thread suggests it's just a port of Shadow the Hedgehog. Bleah, I'd rather have Mega Collection Plus. :/

Maybe it's a game based on the Seattle Super Sonics. Or the upcoming movie starring Jessica Alba.

Except the GG ones didn't suck and in fact played like Sonic games. Excepting Labyrinth and Blast, of course.

Sonic 2 GG was an incredibly evil game. Possibly my favorite out of all of them.

I'm hoping that this is either a compilation with none of their bullshit games in the series (all of the sonic games after the genny/segacd) or a brand new game in the style of the old Sonic games...none of this Sonic Advance/Adventure garbage
