New Timesplitters: Future Perfect details - IGN

http://cube.ign.com/articles/569/569238p1.html

Running at 60 FPS on all three systems (Xbox, PS2, and Cube), this first level shows off the new game's new visual treats. The levels are larger. Subtle graphic effects create a more animated world. A greater amount of animations take place in the background (ships flying by, etc.), and there are more interactive objects in every level.

Xbox and PS2 owners can connect online, where two to 16 players can vie online in games such as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Escort, Capture the Flag, Assault, and more. We haven't seen the online play yet, so we'll fill you in with details at a later date.

The Map-Making tool is far superior to the previous ones, giving players the kind of flexibility similar to those in Epic's popular Unreal series. Players can now create mission types with triggers (objective types), they can add vehicles (that can drive up stairs and through doorways), build outdoor or indoor levels, add weather effects, and determine a host of other options.

Once you're happy with a map, Free Radical plans to give players the option to upload and download their work for others to play and compete on.

This is looking better and better everytime I see a new update on it. Hopefully this will ease up the dissappointment called Halo 2 for me and provide hours of fun, both single player and Multiplayer as the second one did.

Planning on picking this one up for the Xbox, would've picked it up for the Cube but the cube version obviously has no online.

I was expecting some kind of LAN option for the GC version since they thought about it, but I guess I can't blame Free Radicals thanks to Nintendo's "support" of that feature.

Who is publishing the Cube version? Or has EA decided to include the GCN version now?

EA is publishing all 3 versions as far as I know. I remember hearing somewhere from some Free Radicals programmers that their favourite controller for this generation was the GC one and that it was their spiritual console and stuff, so I guess we have to thank them for including a GC version.

I think I'll be checking this out. I haven't bought a FPS since Perfect Dark and I'm rather itching for one. I did play through Halo though, but it didn't do much for me.

I loved TimeSplitters 2 so much it's not even funny. I think I've spent more time in its deathmatch than pretty much any other game this gen.

It's the only FPS I've played where the various modes actually made it feel like a genuinely different experience, for me.

Harry Tipper's BACK!

About the indoor/outdoor level thing. That's great, but I wonder about hybrids? I've got a TS2 level based on my house. I included the yard, but it just looks like a really big encircling outer room.

OMG... map mapping tool... online upload or whatever exchange OMG OMG... we speak of a console game here.
Free, my wallet is yours.

I still think that Time-jumping idea is a bad thing, they should just stick to one setting, preferably leaving out all aliens and sci-fi guns.

In other words, transforming it from Timesplitters into yet another bullshit 'realistic' shooter. There are more than enough of those out there now. If you don't have the imagination to enjoy things like 'aliens and sci-fi guns', go play one of those instead, and take your 'realism' with you. The TS series needs to stay just the way it is.

As for the screenies, I was already looking forward to this game to begin with, and these new shots just sealed the deal. Definitely grabbing this the minute it hits shelves.

I'm not really liking the art style (altough it's better then the generic drab most fps's throw at you) nor am I impressed by the graphics, but TS2 was mad fun as a partygame so I don't care, this is probably gonna rock too :).

Youd think so, but why have their games since Goldeneye sucked so badly??? I reckon they fluked it
Ntards will tell you Miyamoto made Goldeneye great. *

I wonder if there will be an online co-op mode as well?

I loved TS2. Very challenging, fun and intense, and PACKED with game modes and stuff to unlock (like the awesome minigame Anaconda with the best song in the game). Also, the amount of customization was amazing (multiplayer deathmatches with only sticky bombs available rocked hard). And it had multiplayer bots...AND MONKEYS!!!

Hopefully they improve the aiming system and maybe add a jump button (felt somewhat restricted without it).

And nice to hear it'll be running at 60 fps, unlike many other FPS's this gen... ;)

I loved TS2. Hours and hours spent with my friends playing it. This looks like it will kick ass, and the map feature is already a big plus.

The characters animate really well, or at least they did in Time Splitters 2. You can tell Free Radical is where the GE talent is. Compare TS2 game play to any EA bond game and Free Radical is heads and shoulders above them.

The HDRI style lighting on the characters and weapons in TS3 looks excellent.
