Sweden has them already. But from what I understood they're short lived, anyone can read the information on them and you'll have to change them more frequently (atleast in Sweden). Not really That good.

The number of absolutely stupid issues with this is amazing.

1) The data is broadcast over the air for reasons that make no sense. You STILL need to get in front of an actual person who will actually look at the passport.

2) The data is not encrypted. Now Wardrivers will also be able to IdentityDrive in airports as all your passport information will be broadcast in PLAIN TEXT and ordered byte formats for all to hear.

3) The system is so 'open' that any third party devices capable of broadcasting an RFID ping will be able to retrieve all the information.

4) Privacy laws don't cover this data!

5) It doesn't actually do anything to actually prevent passport fraud! If you have a reader you can get the keys from a *real* passport. With this information you can create a fake RFID transmitter that will respond to an RFID query from a real device.
