Oh and sign me up to the different dimension factor too. I've seriously been interested in the subject since little and it'd be a nice change that some race has stumbled upon a warp or rift somewhere or actually attacked that certain fabric to get to the other side.

The movie looks absolutely amazing and I love the acting of Tom Cruise in the trailer.
Dakota Fanning is a pretty damn good little actress and she's far from haughty. You should see her on talk shows... shes so cute and so personable.

I think she's the same person who was in The Ring, Lilo & Stitch, Spirited Away, and a couple other movies. Kinda reminds me of that one child actor who was really popular about 10 years ago who starred in Matilda and Miracle on 34th Street.

what exactly is Tom Cruise gonna do? I never heard the original story.

In the original story, the main character is also nobody important - the story is just told through his eyes. Not telling some contrived story of saving the world is what made the book so good, and doing the opposite is one of the reasons ID4 was so sucky.

Anyway this looks quite interesting so far, and looks like it could be a nice tribute to original work also
