For all my Wild Arms bashing, that looks pretty damn slick. It looks like they're really mixing it up. Same developer as Advanced 3rd?

Anyway, will anyone actually bring it over? I know someones doing the remake of the original over here, but WA3 tanked pretty hard, did it not?

I'd imagine someone would pick it up if Sony doesn't bring it over. Lots of publishers are now going after RPG's, Mastiff, Atlus, Konami ect.

Yah it looks like a platformer/RPG. Alot of it seems to be sidescrolling which is cool. I give them credit for atleast trying to take the series in a new direction even if it doesn't pan out right.

PS2 or PSP?

Also, looking sweet. I've always been a fan of the series since the first one came out and was swallowed by FF7 hype. :(

Here's hoping that this one (and the remake of the first) fucking own...

This actually looks interesting, but I'm going to personally skip it until it hits ~$20 since I got burned on WA 2 and 3

Sounds like a totally bizarre concept, but I'm always up for new ideas. Heaven knows we need them in the industry these days.

Alter Code: F uses a similar engine but it's pretty straightforward. Same commands are there but this time they split several of the force commands to other characters since you can get them in the party now. The game itself feels mediocre. It's certainly not a bad experience for cheap but I wouldn't recommend it at full price.

Edit: There you go

Seems like the HQ isn't working =|

Even though I hate WA3 and skipped Alter Code F, I'm surprisingly looking forward to this game.

It's like the developers said "Look, we realize our game engine sucked! Please give us a chance to start fresh again" Then made a completely original rpg with the western theme of WA.

Also the character art is pretty nice and I have a soft spot for the lead because he looks like Jr.

Er, couldn't you argue that 3 used ACF's battle system? Since WA3 had basically no improvement I could see over WA1, and since ACF is a remake of that game...

Err, the battle system for WA3 and its accompanying systems were leaps and bounds ahead of WA1. The systems for the game meshed extremely well together and I really haven't had a game that was so.

If there's anything that the WA series does bad, it's the storylines and the second-half of the game which usually just falls apart. Gameplay has always been solid.

Yeah, it kind of reminds me of BoF going off in a totally different direction after everyone got cozy with the idea that the series was stale.

Color me intrigued.

Nice to see them do something different. Looking at (good enough) sales of past games, I'd say it's likely this game could have been yet another sequel with slightly different gameplay mechanics. And as a Wild Arms fan, I would probably eat it up anyway...but I have to say I appreciate these changes a lot.

This is how I imagined an updated Ys 3 or Faxanadu game to look like... kickass if it's a side scrolling RPG!!

IAWTP

i hate making fun of ACF because it's not even out here yet and i am pals with the agetec PR guy but that game just proves what a fucking mediocre series wild arms has ALWAYS BEEN SINCE THE FIRST GAME.

this looks like a big improvement, but i wonder if anyone will even bother putting it out here. i can't see ACF doing decently at all, at this point.

That small, annoying sense of nostalgia in the back of my head says I will at least try ACF, mainly because Wild Arms was a fun game for the era (that being the pre Square Playstation one). I played through the entire game and enjoyed it, but yeah, it's entirely possible that a rental will wake me up to the truth. Nostalgia be damned, the chances of finding a remake these days that can even hope to match up against Zero Mission is pretty slim.

ACF should come up smelling roses compared to WA2, though, which I stand by having the worst translation ever.

suikoden and persona had already come out by the time wild arms hit, so it's not like the PS1 didn't already have two better RPGs. i always wondered what the big deal was. WA1 was a boring RPG with a really incredibly generic, stupid plot (braindead anime cliche characters -- you know a game's cast is bad when the smartest character is a talking rat.) not to mention the slow-as-molasses battle system, which is the main reason i gave up after 25 hrs.

not to mention it was a shameless lufia II ripoff minus the charm.

it's not like it's a horrible game, it was just a 7/10 at best, even back then.

Well, keep in mind my opinion on Suikoden 1 roughly echoes what Drinky has to say, and I never could get into Persona. Wild Arms, on the other hand, was that by the numbers RPG which really wasn't there otherwise on the PlayStation early on. Comfort level stands for something, I suppose.

If this truely is a sidescrolling RPG, with a decent battle engine. Count me in!

WA3 has a customization system that's better than most traditional RPGs out there and its battles are fairly well-designed from the standpoint that it forces you to use the system in specific ways and making the most of it. Whether or not you had fun with it is another issue but from an objective standpoint, the gameplay is about 10x better than most RPGs.

I really liked WA1, I really did. But I could never get into any of the sequels. I'll try the new one just to see if it can change my mind, but I'm weary of the whole thing.

Though, I checked the computer at my GameStop last night and we have a date of early March and $39.99 for Alter Code F. At least, that's how I remember it. Lack of sleep for the past few days could find me wrong.
