So is Friday better for anyone else? I'm free both nights so I don't really mind.
I'll be willing to do it either day myself. On Friday, I have a class that starts at 1:10 and ends at 3:50 but since it's the first day of classes, it's gonna end in about half an hour. That said, though I won't be free until 6.
On Saturday, I'm scheduled to volunteer from 6:45-10:00, but as I said, I'm either going to cancel it or move it down to an earlier shift but I have to do it as soon as possible. If it were up to me, I'd be willing to meet up both days because I have nothing better to do provided, Saturday's venue were to be at a different place for novelty reasons I suppose.
I'll also throw this website down here because it's relevant:
http://www.nycgameindustry.com/ As I mentioned before, NYC has a game industry that's alive and kicking despite the costs of maintaining a studio here (see: Kaos Studios' closing for reference). The most recent one that opened and hired was Avalanche Studios who are famous for their
Just Cause games as well as
Renegade Ops to a far lesser extent. Also, as most of you know, Rockstar has a studio here too as well as a ton of mobile game developers. There's a meet and greet networking opportunity every month at Barcade so if anyone is interested in working in the game industry or wants to check out some low key gaming events (test out other devs' games for example), that website is your gateway.
