Spotted Clark Gregg and quickly got a photo, thinking I was the luckiest person ever...

Yup.

I will have to keep you guys all posted on when I'll be on TV for the sci-fi speed dating show. I had my date today and it was pretty cool, girl is awesome but it's kinda unnerving having cameras follow you around and then having to give a short interview on what you thought of the girl.

Here's a link to the pictures I took at NYCC:

http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151107923538983.452329.580308982&type=1&l=c9d2710fc1

Some samples (Relm was my favorite cosplayer):

This post is great for two reasons. 1) I too am going to be featured on the show, as the loveable video game geek looking for love. 2) The girl cosplaying as Relm is one of the two girls I got matched up with on the show haha

To the both of you I say I'm so jelly. I wanted to do it, but I had a class that ended at 5 which wouldn't have worked out. Plus I had work as well. Unfortunately the guy cap was also full months before I'd even considered doing it. I did help the big boss of Reed Pop take packs of water bottles on Thursday approximately 1-2 hours before it began. I want to hear more about this but don't spoil the ending/epilogue! Did both of you tell the girls that you guys post on GAF? I hope you guys weren't as socially awkward as Chewie was from the last season (doubt it; djtiesto is a pretty outgoing/sociable guy having seen his pictures and read about his online dating adventures in the Dating Age and OKC thread); that poor dude was frozen in fear.

On a related note though, I did get a Firefly fan who was cosplaying as Wonder Woman while I was flirting with her during the said panel after escorting a cute chick cosplaying as Catwoman into the theater. Suffice to say, it's going good. I'm going to see if we hang out this weekend. :D Will go into more specific details in a future post in the Dating-Age thread to give the thread a much needed positive mood. But speaking up and confidence played a large part in it as well as being funny/myself.

Any get a chance to play the new Hitman?
While I was working, I briefly stopped by the SE booth in hopes of trying to speak to the Sleeping Dogs Community Manager that posts here; he was there but he looked busy. But I spoke to an SE rep instead and saw an eyes on of the demo (the first mission of the game). He told me that he thinks it's going to appeal to harcore fans such as myself despite the inclusion of the Instinct mechanic. The visuals look so good in person. I was really impressed by it. I think the Purist mode can be selected by default from what I saw.
Having con withdrawal!

I made rounds all over hoping to spread more Bane. Sunday was so packed lol
I saw dozens and dozens of Banes, Poison Ivy (so many were scantily clad in bras in and panties!), and Harley Quinns. They were pretty popular this year. I also saw the female Nightwing cosplayer but was scared to ask her for a picture especially during the middle of the deconstruction of the Show Floor. She was talking to a dude and seemed like she was about to change into her regular clothes.

As to where I was throughout the days, on Thursday, I wasn't there at all; I was working at Panel A/the Ben Folds 5 concert. Friday, was my off day; I went straight to the break room around 7:30 or so to hang out with coworkers; Saturday, I was roaming the Show Floor for a while before heading to the break room and was assigned to guarding the IGN exit by the food court during the Walking Dead/Firefly Panel; Sunday, I was working at Javitz North near Artist Alley in the morning directing people to the escalators, then later on, directing tons of people with kids/tickets to the yellow desks as well as giving them directions. I ended the Sunday shift by helping manage the Robert Kirkman line from around 2 until closing; I was by the New Age area/in front of the Lego booth the entire time.

And and to whoever said I have a baby face, I say thanks. Once my facial hair grows goatee and my hair grows out, I look much older than 24. I also believe it was SouSouRocket who told me I'm not socially awkward which meant a lot to me as I've been in so many social situations in which I don't know what to do but look at people from being frozen in my thoughts. This is one of those cases where I felt right at home and let me be me which resulted in me being very outgoing; I'm typically an introverted, quiet guy but I love being around people and can be very sociable as a result. I think I've become more outgoing this year alone.
It was nice chatting it up with you again Jipan. See you soon!
Likewise man. Did you manage to try out the WiiU? I saw the cord for the pad getting taken out the kiosk and was surprised to see that it was fairly long. I haven't posted the picture of both of us because apparently, that picture (as well as a couple of others) was shot in the RAW format, which means I'll have to touch it up in Photoshop, convert it to a PNG, then post it, but I'll see if I do it some time this weekend when I'm not swamped with school.

Ive never felt more normal in my life than I did at NYCC. If theres one thing I took away from this, its that I need more of this.

damn you must be the most specific demographic ever on GAF. Female, and I presume Muslim AND a gamer? Impressive. I think you're in a class of one, unless I'm missing some other GAFer?

Anyway, have fun Kisaya. I hope I can get Amano's autograph, we're leaving at 6:00am in the morning now to get up to the city. I hope I make it... but I doubt it >_<

I just noticed this quote from forever ago but I'm a Muslim female gamer too (former hijabi though). I'm so bummed I never got to see you Kisaya!! There aren't nearly enough badass Muslim gamer chicks :((

I ended up hanging out in the unofficial cosplay corner near the statue upstairs where people were taking pictures and it kind of reminded me how weird some people in the community can be. There was a guy dressed as Ezio who kept meowing loudly (not like a real cat meow, but just saying the word "meow" in the same monotonous tone) every few minutes, and so I asked him why he was meowing. He pointed at his cat ears (which I hadn't noticed til just then) and explained that he was "EZIO MEOWWW-DITORE" and kept at it. :/ he kept meowing intermittently until I asked him with a bit if an edge in my voice if he was meowing for any particular reason, and then he sadly took his ears off and said he'd stop. Jesus Christ, dude. I told him he doesn't need to take the ears off, but maybe just let them speak for themselves :p. Then there was a guy that was way too interested in how my costume was put together and kept following me for a while, chatting my ear off about it. Thankfully for the most part everyone was really friendly and not too weird. NYCC seems to have a lot less smelly weirdos than other cons I've been to. They're definitely there but the percentage of weirdos to normal people who love nerdy things is a lot better.

Btw Jipan, thanks for taking such nice pictures!! :D you are far too kind, don't insult poor Jessica Alba with such comparisons! Also m0dus doesn't ban people for real life business, please don't be afraid to meet us!! XD

That being said, there was still cool stuff. Finally got a REAL chance to play Wonderful 101 and it was great. Saw so many kids playing M rated games at the Nintendo booth, so I guess the guys there were pretty lenient.

My college friend was the one manning the Wonderful 101 booth, what day did you go play?

That's awesome! A guy I met at a small con in Rockville Centre will also be featured on the show too... and it's even better that you got matched up with the Relm girl!

I'm fairly quiet in person ^^; I thought I did OK, it was the one-on-ones before and after the date that got to me, I didn't really know what to say ("do you see yourself having platonic or romantic feelings towards the girl?" uhhh), not to mention dealing walking through the crowds. Her and I talked about a lot of different stuff - sports, movies, music, and of course games (she seems to be more of a western RPG fan but of course I namedrop a lot of great Japanese ones), so I wonder what they will use. But I just HATE HATE HATE hearing myself speak or seeing myself on TV.

I haven't seen the show beforehand either! So I'm not sure if they edit it to make the guys look more nerdy and awkward :p I should have done a shoutout to NeoGAF or The Bore but forgot.

I saw BKV signing at the Midtown Comics booth, but for the life of me I couldn't remember your message... and I wasn't going to start looking it up thanks to crappy cell coverage in the Javits.

Damn, didn't even know that's what the "secret message" was about. I got my issue of Saga signed and would have said it had I known. Definitely would have been more interesting than whatever nonsense came out of my mouth.

Sunday. Since I only went Saturday and Sunday, that was the better day to be on the floor.

I don't know if it was your friend manning the booth at the time, since it looked like they shifted out at points. The one manning it when I got to play was an Asian girl.

Nope. I stood around for the Halo panel and when that was done I didn't even come back. I was not a fan of NYCC aside from hanging out with you guys, HaloGAF and 343 employees there. I walked around and just was not having a good time. Very crowded, took too long to get to places and I didn't like it. It would take something unbelievably awesome to get me to come back to one of those. I'm glad that I only went on that Saturday even though I had a 4 day pass.

Kinda feel the same way tbh, but mostly cause I was grouchy having camped with no sleep the night before. Told myself I won't be doing it again but I think I'm gonna end up going next year anyway, rofl.

Somehow just found this thread. Had a blast and hope to meet some of ya next year.

Also, thanks for sharing pictures - fun looking through them.

Someone snagged a photo of my Moxxi costume :) I think a few GAFfers came by my Artist table and said hi. I can't believe I missed Lance at the Aliens panel. He's one of my favorite actors!

I can vouch for Kisaya being very sweet in person. There's so few of you though especially on GAF.

Lmao! A creepy Ezio dude with cat ears who was meowing. O.k. that creepy cosplayer stuff had me rolling with laughter. I tried meowing in a monotone voice and quite frankly, it sounds weird and plain old creepy. Hell, it was probably scaring away many, many women. It seems like the poor dude just wanted some feminine attention which you gave him. Unfortunately for him it seems like he got rejected that he took off the ears in defeat.

How'd you guys manage to shake off the creepy stalker dude? Did you tell m0dus to hidden blade his ass or did you guys manage to blend in a crowd in a crowd of cosplayers? Or maybe you told him that m0dus was a Mod on GAF which would've been enough to make most geeks stop dead in their tracks, turn tail, and head for the hills.

But hey, it's not a problem at all; you guys are most welcome. The advice that m0dus gave me I wrote inside my sketch book. If you guys are ever back in town, I will take you guys to one of the best Dominican restaurants in my neighborhood. Everyone that I've met from GAF throughout the months/years have been nothing but fantastic individuals with colorful personalities. I get the whole "you're too kind" thing a lot as well; everyone tells me that so you're certainly not the first ones, but I appreciate it nonetheless.
Ive never felt more normal in my life than I did at NYCC. If theres one thing I took away from this, its that I need more of this.
Aww, that's so sweet,

I see. Thanks for the insight. In the first season they filmed the "characters'" house as well as where they worked at. It was more of a "look at these nerds" type of thing.

Allow me to help. Here are Episode 1 and Episode 2.

Nssssope. I stood around for the Halo panel and when that was done I didn't even come back. I was not a fan of NYCC aside from hanging out with you guys, HaloGAF and 343 employees there. I felt the same way. Thought the Show Floor was like a battlefield trying to process all that information going on with the chaos. It was way too overwhelming so I understand, but once I figured out what to do if there was a job to be done, it didn't become so bad after all.

EDIT; Definitely not me Baroness. I'm sorry I missed you; I didn't step foot into Artist Alley even once despite working near it on Sunday. It was way too far out this year, but at the benefit of having a dedicated area as oppose to being on the Show Floor. But it sounds like you had fun at the very least.

Only thing making me think its not you are the boots.

I think this was right upstairs, underneath that Lemony Snicket banner. You were taking photos with a bunch of people. If thats not you, its someone who looks a lot like you.

GAF is my dirty little secret. No one can ever know.

When I got the e-mail from the producers asking to be on the show, I was drunk, and responded "I'm more interesting than the wookie guy"

Yeah! I was hoping to get a group shot with her and Vampy at the Triforce booth. I hung out with DTJAAAAM for a bit and then he bounced. Then found her on his way out. :(

Thats low. How could he do that to you!?!? :p

I didnt even know she was going until she sent out an email a few days before the show to everyone on SEs mailing list. She immediately jumped to the top as someone I was hoping to run into.
Oh well, I guess theres always next year. Hopefully shes there again.

Yes, that Moxxie you posted was me :) I was wearing my boots while walking around but once I got behind my table I took them off because they were begining to hurt!

Megan's two face is indeed awesome. If you were looking for her, she was at the Tomb Raider Archery experience most of the weekend right in the hallway leading to the artist's alley. She wasn't around the Squeenix booth.

I guess DTJaaaam did managed to snag a photo of my Moxxi :) Dude you've snapped at least 3-4 photos of me over the course of this year and I still haven't properly met you! hahah One day!

Ahhh makes sense. In that case, thanks for the photo!

I saw another Moxxi that was pretty good but your costume seemed like it was better put together and more detailed.
Here she is:

Ahh I was only that way once or twice. The TR archery thing seemed pretty busy and I didnt want to stand in line so I passed it up. I guess thats what I get.

Yah, thebaroness' outfit is more detailed overall. Buttons, stripes, bra, textiles, buckle. And dat face.

Better pose too. She stood out in the crowds. Swagger, etc.

And since we are on a little Borderlands here, I grabbed a shot of this guy too:
DSC00063.jpg

He was funny.

Thanks for the compliments fellows. I worked really really hard on my costume. I hand painted and sewed every part of it. The booty flaps on the jacket took the longest to make. I was sewing trim on the jacket up until 3 am the night before in the hotel room heh.

Another photo my friend snagged on the show floor.

Sure no problem. I didn't want to get myself in hot water by over staying my welcome there. At least I got to see Hitman: Absolution up close and personal (it looks really good). You were the guy in the red shirt looking at a laptop screen right?

Guys, the depressing Show Floor pictures shall be coming soon; I've been really busy with school so I haven't had much time to upload them. On top of that, I've been tired. Will do so soon.

That *might* have been Robert Peeler, who the Community Guy for Square Enix America - he's a great guy, too. Shame you couldn't make it to the Sleeping Dogs panel, it'd have been nice to make your acquaintance IRL :)

As a matter of fact, I think it was him. It's funny because I was in the break room while it was happening. Then around 2 or so; I decided to grab a co-worker's information book and realized it was already happening and I missed most of it so I headed up to the Show Floor instead. But it sucks that I didn't make it. If I get accepted next year and you guys are having a panel then, I'll most definitely make sure I remember the time and be there.

That said, I went to the Gaming side and saw that it's a zombie/Halloween themed sub campaign akin to Red Dead Redemption's Undead Nightmare (which was really good in and of itself). I still need to get my shared copy Sleeping Dogs from brother's girlfriend's house and play it.

All right guys, time to show you some sad pictures because all good things must come to an end at some point. From the Show Floor closing/taking itself apart to the last "cosplayer" (it's some kind of a robot that a dude operates) picture that I took. People went to work quickly; it's like someone cast a spell to deconstruct.

After several of my coworkers and upper management announced that the Show Floor is now closed, these Lego Exhibitors immediately began deconstructing the Lego Graffiti wall:
a3AE7l.jpg

Roll off the red carpets folks, the New York Comic Con is over but will be back October 11-13 next year:
XDTPll.jpg

Men at work. There was plenty of this going on left and right as soon at the last few attendees left:
zTtrWl.jpg

Beneath the red carpets and fancy exhibitions all that remains are boxes and a bare concrete floor. This is the real Javits Center when it's not hosting shows, fairs, and conventions:
lm69Gl.jpg

In this picture, you can see the Skylanders Giants Mega Blocks statue get taken apart by two exhibitors:
fvfPLl.jpg

Rolled up carpets look like overgrown taquitos:
41XS7l.jpg

The guys in this area were giving out tons of books (e.g. a Batman novel, a $45 Harry Potter film book, Archer graphic novels, etc.), bags, and other goodies. I have a pretty hefty bag full of stuff:
riJywl.jpg

You know it's the end when the cherry pickers, ladders, and fork lifts are on the Show Floor:
izzl1l.jpg

The Superman exhibit gets taken apart in this picture. I don't need to say more:
G6ihol.jpg

At the Square Enix booth, toys get put away into massive piles of boxes:
aAlqLl.jpg

All that remains at the Capcom booth is nothing but trash and bare show lights:
gKevBl.jpg

A Z-axis shot of the empty Show Floor:
rOtgwl.jpg

While the Show Floor was deconstructing, this exhibit's online gaming match was still going strong as you can tell by the announcer and the amount of players still going at it. At some point, I imagine it eventually closed down and wrapped up:
nuAwBl.jpg

In this picture, Reed Pop VP, Lance Fensterman gives one last final thank you speech to the crew members that were in the vicinity. It moved me to tears practically, but I ultimately maintained my composure; I didn't want to alarm anyone by crying or draw attention to myself. Still though from a working perspective, a huge amount of love and labor goes into making this possible:
6H6SBl.jpg

Droves of custodians push bins and utility carts into the Autographing/Variant Stage area:
trZAXl.jpg

The aforementioned last "cosplayer" that I mentioned. The Exhibitor on the left is its owner/operates it. My coworker (the hand/feet on the corner) chats with him:
9tvnEl.jpg

The last shot I took of the registration desk/the entrance before I headed out with my coworkers:
3PMigl.jpg

I'll be back in this thread one last time to a give a few more glimpses into the behind the scenes stuff and post the picture that I promised Tashi I would post. I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did and saw what you wanted to see (or in the case of an artist, sold a decent amount of prints/drawings).
