Nexon reports record-breaking Q3 results thanks to successful launch of The First Descendant, “jiggle physics” incoming to the game

In their most recent financial report, Nexon revealed that they achieved record-breaking quarterly revenue and operating income in the third quarter of 2024 (July 1 to September 30). This was thanks in part to the successful launch of The First Descendant and the strong performance of MapleStory’s localized versions.

In Q3, Nexon experienced 15% vertical growth due to the combined performances of three major game franchises, Dungeon & Fighter, MapleStory and EA Sports FC. The Dungeon & Fighter franchise grew 142% due to the successful launch of Dungeon & Fighter Mobile in China back in May.

As Nexon previously predicted, The First Descendant made a strong contribution to the company’s Q3 profits and horizontal growth. The company reports that the FTP looter shooter got off to a flying start when its release version dropped in July, performing particularly well in Western markets, which accounted for approx. 75% of the game’s global revenue. Nexon plans to continue updating the game with new content in line with player feedback. Its other shooter franchise, THE FINALS, improved its playerbase retention in Q3, with the release of Season 4.

Freyna's Ultimate costume is already top tier but Hailey's one is going to be even better.

Glad it's doing well even if I haven't played the game yet as the gameplay isn't really my type but might give this a try cause the PLOT is very interesting.

All this is fine and good, but I sincerely hope they improve the actual game. It absolutely bled players and hovers between 7-13k now. I don’t know if they can just only rely on cake to keep the game afloat.

My understanding is that most players are on consoles, but it's not some huge difference either. I'd be surprised if all combined the game has over 30k players daily. They're probably being kept afloat by whales buying up all the gooner material off of the shop, so I don't think the game is necessarily dying, but we might just end up with a game that's Wareframe At Home with sexy ladies, and never anything more than that. I would love Warframe with sexy ladies, but Wareframe is actually good. TFD needs to focus on getting good.

Glad it's doing well. Been playing this game off and on with a buddy on the weekends. Cool game to just chill with while shooting the shit with your pals imo.

Who would guess that majority of gamers are males and that they like hot bimbos?
Willing to guess Firewalk studio fellas are incredibly mad by this game.

They're about to fix it.
TBH they've done nothing but work on it and try to make it the game people want to play since launch. There's no stopping any time soon from the look of things. 100s of hours in but not played in over a month for personal reasons, but kept an eye on what they're up to. There's been a few quieter moments, but compared to some games and devs they're absolutely on it.

A GAAS company made record profits years after NeoGAF told me the GAAS market was saturated?

Who could have seen this coming?!
