Next Call of Duty Won't Have Jetpacks, Treyarch Developer Tweets He Still Has 'PTSD' From Fan Reaction - IGN
One of Treyarch's lead developers has a big fat "NO" for Call of Duty jetpack lovers.

Treyarch Studio Design Director David “Vahn” Vonderhaar wants you to know that he really hates jetpacks, and judging from some recent comments of his, it’s unlikely that we’ll see their return in Call of Duty’s 2020 game.
First reported by CharlieIntel, Vonderhaar took to Twitter to respond to a fan tweeting “you butter [sic] have jetpacks in the next COD.”
“NO,” Vonderhaar replied succinctly.
Responding to another fan who said that jetpacks would “revive” Call of Duty, Vonderhaar elaborated on why he’s so against their return.
“Such short-term memories,” Vonderhaar tweeted. “You hung me from the highest branch. No. NO. I have PTSD.”
So there you have it. Treyarch has yet to announce any concrete information about their next Call of Duty game, but it looks like jetpacks aren’t high on the wish list for at least one director at the studio. Jetpacks were last seen in Treyarch’s Black Ops 3, and their inclusion in the franchise’s multiplayer proved to be a divisive one. Critics derided the use of jetpack-like exosuits as a continued move away from Call of Duty’s core competitive shooting, while fans praised the way it fundamentally altered movement strategies and provided new players a tool to escape or return fire.
