The custom RDNA2 on console could have some advantages over Turing. And or perhaps the level of RT on the S will likely need to be lessened for some games.
The AMD CPU they recommend in that image for 1080 RT is a 6 core Zen 2 I think, comparatively the XSS has a stronger CPU which could help it keep its frame rate at a playable level with RT on, despite the weaker GPU.
Just guessing.
They recommend 16 GB of RAM + 8 GB of VRAM for the 1080 with RT... but Series S only has 7.5 GB of RAM total. I have no idea how they'll get that to work.

Yeah, the only thing that came to mind that could make it possible on the XSS was dedicated RT cores.
About RAM being insufficient on the XSS: I just ignored the RAM requirements in my assumptions and considered only VRAM part, otherwise it would make no sense comparing to next-gen consoles.

I am not a big believer of exclusive games sell consoles to the masses. Maybe on Gaf, but we tend to forget a majority of the game playing world doesn't have a job yet.
I would argue it's more about convenience than exclusive games.
