If they could not afford to pay for timed exclusivity they certainly cannot afford to pay for permanent exclusivity. You do realise that it is the same amount of money - right?
I belive that those games will not be exclusive to xbox, if they were going to be the xbox team would have already said it

I pretty much agree with the first part of your post, Bethesda games really are just PC games with consoles tacked on. I think the only Bethesda (or Zenimax) game I played on console was Dishonored 2. Did it for the platinum, normally would just play it on PC.

Wait until end of October and treat yourself to a new RDNA 2 GPU please ;)
I have no plan for an upgrade now. Maybe when next ES comes out.

Dang, he already got greasey fingerprints on that.
Can us lot in the west have a hands-on with the PS5 Jim?

Jim?

Two things here that are annoying me:

1, In the world of being "transparent" it is good to know NDA teases like this are still a thing....

2, I swear Sony have gone full Nintendo in becoming a faceless company. I'm sure early this year they promised they had tonnes to share in the months ahead. And done nothing.

Sigh.

Sega? 3-4 billion? Only if yen lol
Sega Sammy market cap is 350 bln yen.

Im resigned to the fact the Microsoft may potentially announce an acquisition of sega today. If it does happen i really dont see how sony or even nintendo can counter a company that has near limitless funds that can and is willing to gobble up entire publishers. Its a bleak, beak outlook but im glad xbox fanboys infinite war chest wish came true. If you cant be em, buy em. Buy the whole damn thing.
They cannot buy Sega overnight.
The process for public company is complicated and long and require broad shareholders approval (and there is no single majoritarian shareholder with whom they negotiate). Offer will go public first than and than *maybe* it will be accepted by shareholders. It will take months to get approval from shareholders and regulators to buyout company of Sega (or Capcom or Kadokawa) size.

I believe more in some cooperation and exclusivity deals than outright buying.

Sony seems more content to just sit back while Microsoft drops bombs. There was a time where maybe that would suffice, but they are playing odds a bit now I think.

Hands-on XSX before PS5, still no UI for PS5, Bethesda got swiped up.

I mean, I feel like Jim Ryan is the reason Arrogant Sony is a thing.

Sony Major Slacking. I want details damn it. I pre ordered a 500 dollar machine not knowing many details. When I order a Home Theater Receiver, I know all the details so I can make my decision. WTH? In the words of Sleep Joe, "Come on Man"

I say this.. and remember I just purchased 3 more games to my pre-orders. LOL

Hmm the black spoon in the left glass (Series X) and the white spoon in the right glass (Series S)....
Sonic isn't the only ip Sega owns, they own a lot more than that. Perhaps it's an exclusivity deal between Microsoft and Sega for a Sonic game since the sonic plushie sits next to the glasses rather than a full scale acquisition of the entire publisher.

What are you whining about. You order a box that plays games. That is the PS5.That is a console. They gave you specs, the games & price. All this goofy shit about more info ,more info. When does it stop. They sell a box & make games.

All this extra shit is soap opera drama. Are you a middle age woman jealous cause another lady has red shoes on. The fuck is going on here.

2021 GOTY
Yeah but thats dumb. Its like how Smash bros was in 2019 and technically Jedi Fallen Order is eligible for this years GOTY award.

They should change the rules so the game has to be nominated for the same year as it releases. And CyberPunk, Demon's Souls, Spider-Man, Assassin's Creed, etc... all those games should be eligible this year if they are releasing 1 month before the award show. Plenty of time for a review and the voting.

Absolutely fucking stupid way of doing things. Allow those with Ps4 Spiderman to pay extra to upgrade to the remaster.

What is the involvement between Sony and Marvel with this franchise? Could this all be caused by Marvel?

Just seems weird how Sony are treating this compared to other games.

Greedy way to push Miles Morales sales. It'll work for many people tho. I'm fine without the remaster because then I don't need to use the SSD to play that old game, can keep it on my external HDD. Save the SSD for PS5 games.

Well, that is your opinion. I am a paying customer, I am not whining. I edited this because I had too much coffee. LOL I am not going to get into a useless argument. We both are allowed our own thoughts on things.

And how does a game pass model make it better? What makes you think than entrusting a service provider with your money in advance, and putting a good portion of the consumers in the habit of getting what they are given, possibly with a monopoly managing it all at the top, will result in better games, and not simply the same games as today, or even worse games?

You did not answer the question, you just kicked the can down the road. "Why do you want that?" "Because I think it's better" Yeah that's kind of implicit in you wanting it, but why and how is it better?

If you look at things realistically, there are pros and cons to both models. If you look at only the good or bad of either you develop a warped view.

There are absolutely some advantages of potentially raising the total spend per user for an entire generation. If MS can reach similar numbers with GP as they would with a middle of the road console generation (in unit sales, say maybe 50 or 60m), and those users are spending the equivalent of 2-3 $60 games per year, every year, for the generation, that can be a big net gain. The equivalent of a console with a 14-21 game attach rate of $60 games over 7 years, which I can all but guarantee is higher than the PS4 or X1 this generation. That means two things, the platform holder makes more money (not that important for end-users), but also that the total available to spend on development is also increased (whether that is realized directly via first-party or by financing/money-hating third-party efforts).

The door is also opened wider for new ideas, without question. The money is already stamped and printed so to speak, so a lot less risk with trying something new. Will everything be new ideas, absolutely not, the tried and true will obviously be represented, you have to keep the subs happy. There is also the importance of image, so a subscription definitely opens the door for the service operator to reach out to an acclaimed director/producer and say here's 300m go make us the artsiest GoTY baiting game you can, sales aren't a thing for us we want the accolades (this line is meant to be funny, but is a tactic utilized by Hulu/Netflix to great effect).

Spider-Man gets the Remaster treatment (and if it's coming to PC it's work they get paid twice for), TLOU2 (and be "remastered") will add a MP mode to justify an upgrade price, GoT will most likely get a Remaster version (and again double income if it goes to PC), GoW Remaster (PC work possibly again). I don't see Sony giving any upgrades for free because they'll have that remaster reasoning along with extra modes for some.

Wasn't Zenimax Market Cap 2.5B?
Why was it bought for 7.5B? It's not just market cap that needs to be considered.
IP wise alone sega is a lot more expensive than Zenimax.

People really need to do the math properly. Sammy revenue comes mostly from SEGA games division.

We are not talking pachinko businesses here.

I feel like this way of buying everything isn't good for gaming and we won't have any competition, Monopoly ruins everything, I feel like IF gaming had another crash, it will be because of Microsoft.

Microsoft wants to make Game Pass much more attractive, looks like this is their future, they wanna keep people subscribing to Xbox Game Pass all the time, but at the same time, I feel like Game Pass will prevent developers from making HUGE AAA Single Player experiences like Sony/CDPR/Rockstar Games do, it will limit developers' ambitions, scope and capabilities because releasing your games DAY ONE in a $10/month is not sustainable for games like TLOU 2 or RDR 2 or Cyberpunk 2077, no doubt about it.

I can see why Sony is saying that putting their games DAY ONE on a Game Pass-like service is not sustainable, and I agree with them a 100%

I don't like the sound of that, at all.
If Game Pass is the future the world can look forward to games like Halo Infinite releasing in its current form. Studios have no incentive to listen to consumer demand. The days of polishing a game before release will end.

Fortunately I couldn't give a flying f about Spiderman ergo this sort of crap means nothing to me. I still believe Sony has a better "launch window" line-up with with Demon Souls taking the prize as a "must have" (& the Oddworld remake game looking very interesting). With regards to backwards compatibility, I only want ps4 games with a pro-patch to have that on ps5 & also run better when possible (more stable framerate etc.).

Xbox has the killer title this gen IMO (Elder Scrolls VI), but until then, the ps5 seems like a more interesting short-term proposition. Which is fine with me because I always eventually get both.

if I buy the Basic Miles Moralles edition, considering I already own Spiderman PS4, can I have free access to download the remastered edition?

Or regardless If You own Spiderman on PS4, You Will still need to buy the ultimate edition to have remastered version of SpiderMan PS4?
Owning Spider-Man on PS4 has no bearing on the Remastered PS5 version. You can only get that buy getting the ultimate edition of S:MM.

The Sega-Sammy holding company that owns "SEGA" has a market cap of $3 billion right now.

SEGA is like over 90% of the revenue compared to Sammy.. so buying them would definitely cost at least $3 billion, probably more like 4.

Honestly, I'm always on the fence when it comes to free upgrades and all of that stuff. As a consumer, I sure as hell want next-gen upgrades to be free, but as someone who basically charges for his time, if you were to come to me wanting to add some guitar tracks, couple of synths, a few vocal layers and consequently I would have to mix again a song I mixed for you a couple of years ago and you would tell me to do it for free, I would tell you to go fuck yourself. Just like that.

So, yeah. I totally understand Sony's stance on this, but at the same time, it sucks.

Market Cap is just the perceived value in the world of publicly traded corporations. More people buy into a corporation's share mostly based on the forecast on the future growth of the company. Real properties, Intellectual Properties, Brand, and mindshare are also taken into account on the real value of the company.
