For my 8k it seems very little jump, on a 55 '' 4K screen (LG CX OLED) at a distance of 50-40 cm I am not able to distinguish the pixel. Maybe 5 cm i can see pixel, its a strage distance for play . Maybe 8k for TV 72'' or up its good.
I don't see the need to keep decreasing the pixel. Use the Tflops better for geometry in the future.
i did not even buy an expensive one, there are people on this forum that are shelling out on thousands of dollars/pounds on tvs.
I got mine in a black Friday sale, 299 pounds 43 inch 4k LG7100 something, can't remember the exact number. It has Hdr. I looked for one with a low umput time i think it was called and this had one of the lowest, i can not fault it for my gaming.
My other tv was a 32" had green and yellow lines forming down the middle of it, yellows looked like mustard, blacks looked like greys.
fist game i open up with Tomb raider not the lastest the one before than, my jaw hit the ground. not only were the colours incredible and rich, i was seeing effects all over the place that i never noticed on my old tv,.
299 pounds was a lot for me, but it shows that even bottom of the range standard TVs are incredible today.
Must be a bit depressing being and working at Microsoft.
Did you noticed?
Seeing that Sony would show the PS5's interface Microsoft gave he order to the partners to release their "pre-review" of the SeX immediately after. The result? All the videos about the SeX have low views while Sony's video in english on the main channel is racing to 3 million views in just 5 hours!
One advantage of what Sony is doing is that, when something finally comes out it becomes a topic for discussion and everyone points "oh, look at the hype".
That makes 4k more interesting for me, if just an actual TV is a big upgrade itself.
Nevertheless, I need to wait a bit currently.. To many purchases/pre-orders at the moment
i found this video very interesting today
From around 2.20 you hear him talk about Switcher, the icon he things its Sonys version of quick resume.
i could be wrong but i thought someone says that all stars game took 8 secs to launch from cold boot, i mean what will it be on switcher then, that is frightening .
An interesting little detail about the UI video is that when you switch games it doesn't ask for confirmation to close the Sackboy.
If you could only have one game active at a time, it would be logical for it to warn you that you can lose unsaved progress (as it happens on ps4).
imo the choice is the good one if this is the reason
Why are Xbox fans obsessed with job hires?
With SSD all gfx assets can be swapped in and out on demand one would think. No need to have them sitting around in the background. We still don't know the ps5 ui ram footprint. So hold on to ur horses as ps5 might have the same ram booked yet managed to do the 4k ui while booking the same footprint.
I'll be honest, I'm not a fan, but always expected an evolution of the PS4 UI because of the PS4 sales numbers and so wasn't eager to see the UI knowing I'll have to tolerate it - I haven't really liked any interface they've designed for Playstation since the XMB, with vita being an ok UI.Around 51 high quality screenshots I made from the latest UI official reveal video, including some parts of Sackboy and Destruction Allstars accelerated part that I had to capture some frame by frame:

Hope you like it! Can serve as well in analyzing stuff shown.

For me, I wish they'd take a new approach and factor out the interface functionality from the way it looks, and build something functional but dull as a fallback UI, for those of us that don't like the unfocused Facebook/Twitter/Android/iOS brain farting information overload, curvy softness.
I was hoping they were going to rework the PS3/PSP XMB with a 3rd dimension so that the UI could then be a better fit for PSVR2.
IMHO The layout and design of Sony's Android TV (Oreo) feels like a better fit for where they should have gone with evolving the PS4 UI. In Oreo, the balance feels better IMO, because your focus is always drawn to choose something to watch on the TV, from the main UI area, which has higher prominence than all the other menus - which makes sense IMO because its a UI for a TV, and navigating to a video source to watch is the primary use scenario. By contrast, the PS4 and PS5 (now) seem to be putting side options (social stuff and AI help/video) at the same prominence of just letting gamers play (the game in the disc drive) like they have since the beginning.
The PS3 had amazing features IMO but its UI never made me apathetic about continuing gaming once the system was up. The PS4 UI is so busy I sometimes feel information overload and then lose momentum to actually play - and then potentially lose that even play session to lollygagging - because the UI design fails to accept it should in most part be a wrapper for getting into a game, to keep gaming closer to a past-time that used to work by just using a power switch and picking up a pad, or putting coins in a slot and pressing 1P.
Thomas Puha, Communications Director @ Remedy:
Show us the rest, Sony!
Velocity Architecture (TM) will make it faster than PS5So it is then the low-tier, 4-channel, DRAM-less one that leaked previously. And to make things worse, it's using only 2x PCIe 4.0 lanes instead of 4x.
Good point, did not see any ‘close Little Big Planet’. Was it skipped over perhaps??Of course it has multi-game resume. If you try to open a game on PS4 with another game running you get a "the following application will close" prompt. On PS5, nothing, the game just switches.
They'll likely make a second video all about multitasking on PS5.
I find it headache inducing compared to the XMB. But then I'm usually sleep deprived when I'm picking up a pad, so the pure crisp image of the xmb is heaven by comparison. It also looks like a design by committee IMHO, everything is in place, but nothing feels like it has to be where it is - so even finding my focus on the UI is laggy in comparison .It's actually simple if you want it to be, this is the main one:
Then from there you can go extensively or just play the games. I find it pretty straightforward, don't you?
They want the D.Remedy seems pretty chummy with Sony. They are always retweeting first party stuff and have done lots of studio visits back and forth.
Probably nothing to it, but they are great studio.
Latest Xbox Series X UI leak ('Craig-approved'):
Ok guys, I jumped like 30 pages to like 10 pages behind and I reached the fucking final page. I found this in the GIF/meme thread by Eternal21
Now I wanna confess before I go to sleep. This Lupita chick is fucking hot!
There is a perfect shot of her firm buttocks but avoided including it. If you guys push me enough I'll release it exclusively.
Ok, bed time.🛏
The biggest jump for me when getting a LG C9 was the HDR.On every 4K tv I’ve had, the difference between it and 1080p has been noticeable.
On an LG CX it’s a vast gulf in image quality.

It’s a very smooth fade to black then splash screen. The narrator also highlighted how fast the game popped up, which wouldn’t have made sense if things had been edited outGood point, did not see any ‘close Little Big Planet’. Was it skipped over perhaps??
Would be good to know if a wide range of bluetooth headphones are natively supported, like Apple AirPods.Nuts and bolts stuff. Time from cold boot to loaded UI/Game. Time from rest mode to loaded UI/Game. Accessing apps like YouTube - must be smoother and better than Ps4. Ease of typing / voice text. Any integration with stuff like Alexa? Basic background when not on specific game.
shadows are heavy but in my experience gaming on PC, the difference between high and medium is only around 10%. same goes for ultra and high.assumption : actual decent shadow resolution for example.
This game seems fun, but I don’t like the $70 price tag for a MP game. If it was like $70 for a campaign + multiplayer I might even swallow.Ok guys, I jumped like 30 pages to like 10 pages behind and I reached the fucking final page. I found this in the GIF/meme thread by Eternal21

i think the problem is the vram memory bandwidth. its only 224 gbps. its possible 1080p 60 fps or 1440p 30 fps is the max they can do.

It’s kinda weird tho, because Sony said their prices would vary from $50 to $70 and this could definitely be $50 with Miles being $60.

goes back to my point that you need to update the engine for sfs support, i do hope live services games get that update especially cause it should be supported on pc. I think Microsoft dropped the ball by not having a DX12U game at launch here.
think Jeff agrees
Yeah it would be nice if they gave at least baseline mobile phone style Bluetooth connectivity in 2020. PS4 not having it was pathetic honestly.Would be good to know if a wide range of bluetooth headphones are natively supported, like Apple AirPods.
With the PS4 it was possible by using bluetooth usb dongles, but most of them (or maybe all of them?) don’t support using the AirPod’s built in mic at the same time.

UI features and APU architecture breakdown, I'm assuming they'll talk about the latter after AMD's RDNA 2 presentation on Oct 28th.So what do we have left to go, i imagine those were not all the UI features.
Like to see some Bc loading times, any other stuff people can think off?
"Take the full tour in 4K"
Subtle.
Good question, I initially thought we would get a die shot as well as another deep dive from Mark Cerny on more of the PS5 technologies especially things which they have not revealed yet (thanks to AMD's NDA on Zen 3 and RDNA 2) but as kyliethicc has pointed out a few times it's not really Sony's style to do this, I think we'll have to rely on developer insight as well as interviews with Mark Cerny over the next year to learn more about the PS5 hardware and customisations. Something like the "rumoured" Infinity Cache "like" feature the PS5 might have won't get revealed until RDNA 2 gets revealed, the "rumoured" RDNA 3 feature(s) of the PS5 won't get revealed until RDNA 3 itself is revealed which will some time late next year. This is all just speculation of course. This hype train has been one hell of a ride. All that is left before this thread is closed for good is a PS5 die shot. Will Sony deliver? Will Cerny do a deep dive? Still secrets to be revealed? Do they need to wait for AMD to fully reveal big Navi? Stay tuned...
Thanks for sharing, I didn't follow the PS4 Pro launch closely as I had no intention of getting one so I was not really familiar with these articles, I think you might be right that we could see another "in-depth" sort of discussion about the PS5's APU in the form of a Mark Cerny interview via Eurogamer article or a Digital Foundry video. maybe a few weeks before launch but definitely after the RDNA 2 event at the end of the month.UI features and APU architecture breakdown, I'm assuming they'll talk about the latter after AMD's RDNA 2 presentation on Oct 28th.

8k is a waste for many reasons and will be for a while. 8k brought higher refresh rates which oled desperately needed. We need display tech to get better first. A true rgb panel, 12 bit panels, that hit 5k nits+ , can display all of rec 2020, oled black levels. Were still years off from this. With these upgrades your tv will start to look like a window instead of a display.Side by side, even meters away you can notice 8K advantage. But 4K is already solid, 16K is the ceiling for normal sized tv's.
Yeah lots to go yet. May not even be clear till after release and someone grinds down and X-rays the chips. So is last big info dump after the AMD event in 2 weeks? Will PS5 have inifinity cache? Will Xbox reveal there L1 Cache size?? Find out next time on DBZ!!
