My guess here is most of this is down to PS4 dev tools being updated to use Oodle compression?
ETA: And that ND have updated TLOU to take advantage of it.
No idea but it's only a small patch, no redownload or anything like that so I dunno if it's related to compression tech. Would be cool to learn what they actually did.
I think it's more that at the time the engine was kinda "shit" to run on PS4 and they updated it to take advantage of what they learned since then (it's been 6 years).
Very nice update for the new people coming into playstation consoles/exclusives.
