It's also 5x cheaper or even more to get gamepass with all these $1 dollar subs.....You can share gamepass easily too.....

Well PS5 is probably the target platform for most devs, so it makes sense both versions are the same. Now in 2 or 3 years, when the multiplatform games are not cross gen, thats when you would see differences, if any.

I know some of you are holding on to that Dirt 5 screen tearing, but this is from a newer build -



4k/60 and no screen tearing. As some of us said, the older build simply didnt have vsync on.

I insist the bigger problem of this game was Xbox used as workhorse in graphic aspect.

Well my point was that vsync is now turned on, as it was always going to be in the final game. Fanboys are not stupid, they knew that would happen, but we still got endless concern trolling and memes about the screen tearing in the older build.

What?! PS Now has MORE subscribers than Game Pass? The Verge disagrees with you. Do not compare Apple and oranges friend. Game Pass is a game subscription service. PS+ is NOT. PS Now is the game sub service and it is NOT as successful as Game pass. You might be right that PS + has more subs that XBL Gold but that is just a byproduct of having a larger installed base.

Amazon Prime is not a game service. It gives cheaper shipping and movie streaming. Why compare it to Game pass? Some hate MS so much that don't want to give them any credit in the game space. No matter how much some here dislike them Game Pass is successful and its doing better than its competitors. That may change but the competition needs to improve their services first.

I thought the build everyone was harshing on was the one shown running at 120fps? With the game running at 60fps, I think just about everyone would expect MUCH better quality in the graphics department. Fact is, games running at 120fps will be done on these consoles, but they're not gonna be very pretty.

I'm suspect of its current 'success' or reported numbers. I'd like to see it maintain yearly numbers when they're not giving the subscription away for $1.

I know they hope people stay on and/or don't cancel but these current numbers are not indicative of its financial viability IMO.

The amount of content Netflix invested in, makes Zenimax look like peanuts. Netflix is estimated to spend $17B on original content in 2020. That's what it will take for Gamepass success IMO. Obviously not $17B a year in spending, at least not yet. But Microsoft will need A LOT of original and exclusive content. Zenimax should only be the beginning. TakeTwo and Ubisoft make sense. I wouldn't even rule out a massive deal, like EA takeover

Netflix also gets a majority of its revenue from over-seas. Will Microsoft finally find success globally?

xCloud (MS game streaming service) isn't included on these normal Game Pass, it's included in Game Pass Ultimate.

Then compare Game Pass to PS now where Game Pass has more subs and I guess you can compare PS+ to XBL Gold. Gold also gives you games so I guess with your definition it's a game sub service too? The streaming point is moot because with both PS now and Game Pass you can download games to play locally on your system. Well I guess you can stream PS3 games on PS4 and play 360 LOCALLY on Xbox so I'd still say the MS service is better.

Amazon Prime is NOT a competitor to Game Pass or PS now so I don't what point you are trying to make. Prime has movies and free shipping for Amazon stuff and neither Game Pass nor PS Now do that so I guess Amazon wins with your thought process?

You seem determined to compare unlike things to give Amazon or Sony a win when it is not necessary. They can all be successful.

The issue wasn't vsync. It was VRR not working correctly on the Series X.

Yes, but unfortunately, DiRT 5 isn't properly operating with Xbox Series X's VRR system as of press time—at least, not as connected to my LG CX OLED panel, updated with new firmware as of last week—and Microsoft confirmed this is a known issue in the console's pre-release testing period. This is a significant asterisk that we hope is resolved in time for the console's November retail launch, and we'll keep you posted on that front.

Thats exactly what MS will do - put all their games on PS.

MS as a corp has achieved success by growing it's revenue and profit margins. Growing...

Not standing still, and not investing money into projects that do not make double digit returns.

If MS want gamepass to show the kind of growth they need to justify the investment, they'll put it everywhere to maximise the potential subscriber base.

If (when let's be honest) PS5 outsells the Xsex hardware, MS and Sony will start talking.

They're already talking about it for Nintendo and they're on every current gaming platform. PS is the most important gaming platform for "full" games - that is the prize MS will want to lock in before Amazon, Apple and Google lock them out.

Maybe MS should just buy Sony. It would make more sense than putting their first party on PS when they have their own platform they've spent billions on.

Perhaps MS should although it would hit their value hard and increase the debt MS has. But it would provide something MS never managed to achieve - a successful presence in the consumer electronics space.

I think Apple is better suited to acquiring Sony if that was ever on the cards - more complimentary businesses and perhaps a closer meeting of corporate philosophy.

Realistically Sony wouldn't be bought out - it's profitable and growing - but it might sell off its weaker bits - phones are the obvious one - and merge with another company if the gaming sector consolidates into a few big players.
 
I'm not an Xbox fan and don't pretend to be. I also have nothing against them, just happened to have gotten (without asking) a Playstation on Christmas day 1995...but what games are they launching with?

i havent followed them outside of this thread really, but it seems like the X series is just lauching with Dirt 5, Assisins Creed and a slew of Xbox One games....and gamepass. Has this been their strategy all along? Dont get me wrong, console launches have never really had great games...but in this day and age, it's very underwhelming to have 1 year+ old games used as reference points for a new system. Thats great and all for people who havent played them, but how many people will look forward to playing games theyve already played and beaten all over again for slight improvement? Only games i can see this really benefitting are online multiplayer games and recently released single player games (last 6 months) that have a hint of replayability left.

I cant tell you how many times I've beat Resident 1 and 2 as a child (and even adult), buy replayability to that degree dropped significantly as an adult. One time and im done. I say all of this to say, what are MSFT's plans for the launch period? Are there any outside of hyping BW beyond the heavens?

Again, likely not getting one, but i hope they"ve been holding out and have taken the unusual step of hiding at least one or two next gen games (cross gen or not) for the launch window of the X series.

Other than that, Gamepass would have to be the holy grail they want it to be. Bethesda may help this, but as we've learned from Netflix and the like, they will have to deliver first party/self developed content on a regular basis, sprinkled with an exclusive 3rd party or two sprinkled in for it to be remotely successful.
