Sony will patch this for sure, there is no reason it shouldn't support VRR and the features HDMI 2.1 brings with it. Patience people.Obviously there will be the ppl who make a way bigger deal out of this post *sees other threads* but honestly it feels like this is gonna end up as a patched software limitation atleast imo. Glad John and some others are taking notice. Would love to see it revisited in a few months and see if it actually makes a difference or not. (I don't expect much, but I would love to know)
I just can't imagine what will happen if after the "tools are ready" games still being about the same on both platforms.this meme reply in the comments ha!!

PS5 just uses 4:2:2 for now when at 4K 120 HDR10. Its not a big deal. Now I am going to hear it from my brother "HAHAHAAH WEAK PS5 CAN'T EVEN HANDLE 4:4:4 at 4K@120"
Am I intrigued by it? Sure. But, What good is more color information if I have to turn down the eye candy to even sustain those frame rates at the resolution? Sure, that object/texture looks like GARBAGE but OMG those colors, so accurate, so DEEP!
They're waiting for the official HDMI Forum to final their official HDMI 2.1 VRR implementation.Has PS blog always stated VRR was coming in future update? I know we all expected it but didn't know if Sony had actually had that in the blog all this time lol

Same reason why Sony's X900H TV (the "ready for PS5" TV) can do 4K @ 120 Hz via HDMI 2.1 but has not had VRR added via update yet.
also, trying to find true 48gbps 2.1 hdmi cables is an absolute shit show right now. Good luck getting one more than 6 feet that’s really true to spec. Even under 6 is a gamble

Let's go with another NextGen comparison! This time the results are somewhat more interesting, but not much. Both versions run at a dynamic resolution between 1440p and 2160p. PS5 has a higher average resolution (at least in the parts that I have compared it is noticeably better in some areas), on the other hand, the drawing distance and the anisotropic filtering are higher in XSX. Regarding the framerate, both consoles run at a rate of 30fps. I have not experienced falls or tearing in any, however, I have not subjected them to very marked stress (many explosions, large load of enemies on the screen ... etc). Ray Tracing is exactly the same on both platforms, the equivalent of the low PC setting.
Yup, because the HDMI forum has just finished their official Ultra High Speed HDMI cable certification like weeks ago.also, trying to find true 48gbps 2.1 hdmi cables is an absolute shit show right now. Good luck getting one more than 6 feet that’s really true to spec. Even under 6 is a gamble
Thanks. I need a 10 footer. Looks like they make one too. Is it rigid or flexible like the included Sony one?I just got these today and so far seems fine but have only been using it with my PS5 on the X900H .
Edit it price of about $13 bucks and its 6' long
Is this reputable analysis or should we wait for DF
Yup, because the HDMI forum has just finished their official Ultra High Speed HDMI cable certification like weeks ago.
At least the consoles include this type of UHS HDMI cable.
Weirdly enough is that both Series X and RTX 3000 cards doesn't work with the newer 8K Receivers because it output 4k120fps HDR in 4:4:4 chroma... you get a black screen. The 2160p 120 Hz HDR10 RGB 4:4:4 checklist
XSX/S - yes
PS5 - not yet, update coming (4K @120 HDR10 is 4:2:2 for now)
Nvidia RTX 30 cards - yes
AMD RX 6000 cards - yes? idk
Nothing else can, I think.

Guess I shouldnt show you what I was doing recently

I don't hate Xbox... do I count?
I've decided to buy an XSX actually.. but not sure when they'll be re-stocked online.
Holy shit, I decided to wast 10 minutes of my life to listen to this guys, and there is a "developer" mumbling things that clearly he knows nothing about. Holy shit the desperation.
Real quote "go compare the sound of the early SNES games to the later ones, and there you'll see how much improvement can be made because of tools and optimization".
When will developers start using the new generation of consoles to their fullest, developing games specifically for the next cycle, that maybe cannot be run on the PS4?
History will tell you that it’s in the second or third year that the developers really hit their stride. Developers typically need a little bit of time to familiarize themselves [with the hardware]. But it’s probably 2022 that you’re going to see some wonderful things in the same way that it was 20152016 for the previous generation, when the generation defining-games started to be published.
Ohhhh is it back?

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan wants the PS5 to be a seven-year success
As the PlayStation 5 launches in the UK, GQ chats to Jim Ryan – president and chief executive officer of Sony Interactive Entertainment – about the past, present and future of PlayStation.www.gq-magazine.co.uk
Jim Ryan has done a lot of interviews in the past few days with a lot of interesting nuggets, I recommend giving them a read. We just need to wait for the deep technical articles now from Mark Cerny.
Idk shit about specs tbh. But my friend is coping right now after failing to get ps5 saying that his pc build based on this video is superior to the ps5 in specs. Is that true?
He said it's "way better"
