And similarly, Sony will go on without E3.Probably a lot. But E3 will go on without Sony.

I wonder how many of the 106 million PlayStation 4 owners out there give a rat's ass about E3?

For sure, it's impacting them negatively. Which is probably why they decided to get those news out early.I've seen some posts, particularly on Reee about how this news on this current day in January affects their hype for PS5, bad marketing for it etc. Does anyone really think that Sony announcing this now will have any affect whatsoever to sales to a console releasing at end of year? If anything it's just another day of lots of people talking about Sony and PS5. Just like the other day with the wanky logo reveal. More clicks, chatter about Sony and PS5.

Marketing 101. Bad news out first, then people will remember the good news.Until Jim Ryan comes out swinging his big old dick around at PS meeting and no one will care.
well hes not exactly wrong. MS did buy up Titanfall's life time exclusivity after Vince Zempalla said we would see a PS4 version soon. Phil also bought Tomb Raider exclusivity and spent $3 billion for Minecraft.
I just dont think anyone's gonna fall for it anymore. Titanfall 2 was basically DOA on arrival on the PS4, partially because the first one never launched on the most popular console. Same thing happened with Shadow of tomb raider. While publisher execs love fattening their pockets with a cut of whatever millions MS is throwing at them, they do know how to do the math and giving MS exclusive rights to their games which not only wont sell as well but also kill any future sales for the franchise is probably not good business.
With all that said, i think next gen will bring back the third party exclusive deals everyone loves to hate. It's crazy that Sony was able to lock up FF7, Nioh 1&2, Nier 2, Yakuza and several other japanese franchises without MS doing much to stop them. I wouldnt be surprised if MS bought another timed exclusive and i certainly wouldnt be surprised if Sony did the same with a massive franchise.
I am sure MS will do some deals to counter them. i just dont know if any of the big studios will fall for it.
- I am pretty sure Rocksteady has been quiet for 4 years because their game is now next gen and likely a Sony exclusive.
- As crazy as it sounds, i think Sony might have paid Rockstar some serious cash to get 1-2 months timed exclusivity for GTA6. After all, if the game is next gen only, they wont be selling $700 million worth of copies in the first weekend. It's a risky move and maybe some assurances and cash from Sony was the push they needed to not make the game cross gen. I wouldnt be surprised that the recent rush of MS buying up studios was directly as a result of Sony's deal with Rockstar. After all, Phil didnt give a shit about building a first party portfolio at the start of this gen and his first acquisition was Minecraft. why the change of heart all of a sudden?
- I think they will partner up with either Ready at Dawn, Platinum Games and maybe a couple other third party studios in japan.
Until Jim Ryan comes out swinging his big old dick around at PS meeting and no one will care.
Why?Nobody should be pleased with this. Even if they don't want to admit it.
Nothing wrong with that, mate.it's mostly done due to nostalgia and tradition
Nothing wrong with that, mate.
I still think we ll see 30 and 60 . Nothing more as the devs want to push eye candy.Things I really hope with PS5:
- targeting high frame rates in FPS games instead of resolution (or at least the option to choose the settings)
- bluetooth connectivity not restricted just to the Playstation headsets (which suck IMO), there's a lot of great headphones out there, I want to use my Audio Technicas fully wirelessly. (or at least just give me the possibility to plug in a mic in the controller and play the chat audio in the main mix, which is not possible on the PS4)
that being said, do you think it'll be a good idea to upgrade to a 144hz monitor? or the majority of FPS games will still be 60fps?
ciao!
Like it has always been since 3D graphics.I still think we ll see 30 and 60 . Nothing more as the devs want to push eye candy.
Yea some people fall for 120 FPS marketing buzz of hdmi2.1 . It ain't happeningLike it has always been since 3D graphics.
More or lessUntil Jim Ryan comes out swinging his big old dick around at PS meeting and no one will care.
Where did you get that from ?It costs Sony, MS 30mil for E3???
I'm wondering if it's worth it for devs to develop for 120fps. We are talking about consoles, so most of them play on TV. How many TV's support 120fps? Honest question, I just don't know, and I'm wondering if it's worth the time and investment instead of just putting it at 60fps.Regarding frame rate It will be no different than previous generations. While now they'll have VRS (can be used to enhance graphics even further) and better CPUs it's still not happening, I expect multiplayer games to be 60-120 FPS (Apex, Fortnite, etc) and the rest with a few exceptions will still be 30. Hopefully I'm wrong but I just don't see it.
Retailers need to know what margins to expect, so it's not like manufacturers can wait until the last minute to announce pricing.PGW is a better place to make price/date announcements, and gives Sony plenty of time to answer to whatever MS announces at E3 (if needed).
Otherwise, there is always Gamescom, if PGW is too close to the release date.
It'be nice to have the option to choose 1080p and have more frames... FPS games are about snappy response times...fingers crossedI'm wondering if it's worth it for devs to develop for 120fps. Give us something concrete to prove your sources then. If it checks out, then we'll listen next time.Bad news (?) first - Good news very soon (BIG acquisition)
This generation basically every game that pushed competitive-play hit 60fps.Regarding frame rate It will be no different than previous generations. Isn't that rumor been floating for quiet some time now ?Give us something concrete to prove your sources then. If it checks out, then we'll listen next time.
I mean, if the deal is signed already, it doesn't matter anymore.
Give us some hintsBad news (?) first - Good news very soon (BIG acquisition)
The SDF is at full tilt at the moment.I shat on what exactly? Stopping the shit excuses? Lol yeah, no argument in here actually.
can you say, is it a developer who mainly made the games for PS, or it is multiplatform developer?Bad news (?) first - Good news very soon (BIG acquisition)
Multiplatformcan you say, is it a developer who mainly made the games for PS, or it is multiplatform developer?
At most launches or E3s either Sony or MS announces a buy out of some description.can you say, is it a developer who mainly made the games for PS, or it is multiplatform developer?
Foolish decision to skip E3, and makes you really wonder what's happening at Sony, but moving on. On to the official reveal.

He meant skipping e3, question is if it's bad or not. Any ideas when we get the good news?Forgive me for being obtuse. Does "Bad news (?) first.." mean there is some sort of bad news coming, but you're not sure what it is?
No sh!t.Multiplatform
Come on now Tommy. Think of our keyboards. Is this due in the next hour next day next week lolBad news (?) first - Good news very soon (BIG acquisition)
Bad news ? Must be e3. It's not really bad news unless you like using it to suit an Xbox fanboy agenda.Forgive me for being obtuse. Does "Bad news (?) first.." mean there is some sort of bad news coming, but you're not sure what it is?
Could quite easily be a second party developer like Insomniac. No sh!t.
Lol this guy.
