Because I'm still waiting for a dev kit from Microsoft and PlayStation have provided there dev kit on time. Would love if Microsoft provided there dev kit but still waiting. So PS5 is the dev kit we're working on

I don't think we're getting real numbers. Look at it this way. If only 41 people died and only 1400 were infected then you wouldn't need to quarantine two cities and over 50 million people.

I hope my suspicions turn out to be unfounded.

He was excited to tell me they have recently received PS5 Dev kits. So I had to ask him about the specs. He wouldnt tell me much, clearly more beer would be required, but he did tell me that the documentation which came with the kits mentioned they are targeting around 13 TF, but clocks and frequencies were TBD. He wouldn't tell me what the current kit contains, but apparently it's a ways off. He was more excited about the SSD to be honest, as it is ridiculously fast, significantly faster than his PC!

So to me this likely points to a lower speced early dev kit in the wild.

I also asked about the Series X, but they are yet to receive kits from Microsoft.

So far, we can't really tell. But - there are a fuckton of people in China, 50M for two cities seems reasonable. And at this time of the year people would be visiting their relatives all over the country, obviously a terrible idea right now so the quarantine is warranted.

So far I'm firmly in the "wait and see"-camp, the same kind of sensationalism was seen also with SARS and so on. We all didn't die then either.

(not saying it isn't a serious virus, but I'm not yet stocking my fallout shelter, or have one even - and this is getting really offtopic)

1.8GCN vs 9.2RDNA you cant make that 5x comparison. For one the ps4 used the much older GCN 1.0 architecture which is less efficient than the GCN used in the much more recent vega cards. The 5700XT(9.7TF~) despite having 33% less stream processors than VEGA7 (13.4TF~) produces similar gaming performance as per digital foundry. Comparing it to GCN 1.0 which first arrived in 2011 in the form of Tahiti and the ps4 was derived from pitcairn which is GCN 1.0. Clock for clock RDNA is around 60% more efficient than GCN 1.0. You would only need around 1TF under RDNA to match the 1.8 of GCN 1.0. A 5x increase you would only need a 5.4TF navi card to match the same performance as a 9TF GCN 1.0 counterpart. To get a 8x increase over GCN1.0 compared to RDNA you would only need a 8.4tf GPU vs a 14.4TF GCN 1.0 GPU.

Is this true? Hmm, I would guess they've given a ballpark of the specs with PCs since their OS will be Windows 10(?)/DX12 so they don't need to send out too many kits, maybe.

You are right, 8800GTX was generation ahead compared to ps3 RSX . RSX was slower than 7900 GTX

I'm just Super happy that the speed they've provided is a game changer. How it took till 2020 is beyond me

I do not have the document unfortunately, I do not work in the game industry so I can only go on what my friend told me, but he has no reason to lie to me. But if you were writing such a document you wouldnt write ' we are targeting 13 RDNA TFs' would you?

I agree. If they put 13TF as target, then its 100% sure RDNA.
 
What I would like to know is what the dualshock 5 feels like. Like is it heavier than the ds4 since it has all this new tech in it, feel more substantial ?
