I bought 2 pro as well, but I wanted more from a top end console, they keep skimping and going cheap its annoying, I wanted a proper cooler, a bigger box that was quiet and more power and 499 for the pro.

Sony need to get their act together and stop the cheap as chips 399 nonsense - if they are going to go cheap, leave out thw SSD and let us buy our own SSD and make a well cooled powerful console FFS.

PRO had fine cooling, they just cheaped out on fans. A few more pennies and they could've gotten ones that were less whiny.
Yup, I wish it was more powerful. Both of mine have been almost exclusively sitting in 1080p mode even though I'm suing 4k tv/monitor.
I don't expect user replaceable SSDs if secret sauce is real.

I can understand people may have low expectations, but currently all informations points out to 12TF and there's literally nothing to suggest 9TF (I'm not counting misinterpretations).

And speaking about expectations. Few months from now 18-20TF monsters will launch on PC, so 12TF GPU will be nothing special and especially when RT performance will be much worse compared to Nvidia Ampere series.

are you talking about the post where someone accused some posters of being in a discord and withholding github leaks? they all showed up here in a flash and admitted the existence of such discord group. so at the very least its somewhat credible. is that really perma ban worthy? i just want it clarified. i wont lose sleep not being able to discuss stuff like that.

personally, im not a fan of ban happy moderation. its what separates gaf from era. i like that you personally give users a lot more leeway than that board, but perma thread bans from now on? if you have to roll out a site ban/suspension for a week or two, i'd understand that, but perma bans for minor offenses this close to the finish line is lame and era like.

We have always had more strict moderation in OTs, and it will remain that way. There are literally hundreds of other praise and doom & gloom threads where people troll to their hearts content (within reason), some still get actioned based on their account history with infractions.

We just ask that you keep it civil. The thread did not derail too much from that Discord drama, and was able to pretty much right itself in quick order before a mod had to step in. I give credence to 666 for that.

But in all seriousness, I commend most of you in here for not getting too carried away and righting the ship yourselves.

As long as you're not intentionally trying to derail with the same circular arguments used in other threads, you'll be fine. The rules we allow to bend everywhere else from the TOS, apply at literal face value in OTs.

It's all case by case, but you know trolling and intentional console wars when you see it. Use the report feature and we will make a determination. That is the best I can tell everyone.

And I mean it, great job in here for not letting that Discord/Twitter drama go too far.

The assets in those sections are never gonna show up in the game. They're just cut scenes probably made by an outsourced animation studio. You don't play cutscenes. At most the big monster person will look like something in the game. The smoke billowing, the water(why would there be water in the game unless there's naval battles and a few interspersed coastline sequences of you walking by the beach) and the super detailed ground are things that will never show up in the game. They're a waste of resources.

You should know better. It's gonna look nice but temper your expectations.

Again, cutscenes mean nothing unless they're truly representative of the game. This was purely a montage with cgi spliced in.

Yes. I was quite surprise how Decima engine evolve in that departament in comparison with Horizon Zero Dawn terrible water quality. Played Horizon Zero Dawn for a long time and water was the weakpoint of Decima Engine from that period of time. From HZD to DS was a huge jump in water graphics.

If the next Xbox is in fact 12 TF of RDNA and comes out as you say 18 TFs of GCN why would Phil stop at saying its only 2x the power of the current X.

Don't you think Phil, who is master of PR, would have jumped at the chance to say 3x?

· Demon's Souls Remake from Bluepoint Games (It's a full remake of the game. Despite having Miyazaki's blessing the game is sure to be a source of debate for fans since Bluepoint are taking artistic liberties and adding their own ideas.)

· SOCOM Reboot from San Diego Studio (Long rumored to be in development at Guerrilla, the game is being developed by ex Zipper Interactive employees and burnt out MLB devs using the Decima Engine. It has almost photo-realistic graphics.)

· Gran Turismo 7 from Polyphony Digital (Huge project that has been in development since 2014. The game is designed to be supported for 10 years and has more employees working on it than any game Sony has ever made.)

· New Ratchet & Clank from Insomniac Games (Start of a new Trilogy and sequel to the Future series the game has been in development since before the 2016 Remake was released. This game sees the return of space exploration, hoverboots and competitive multiplayer which could be free to play. Still being decided.)

· New Multiplayer Title (Project Vanguard) from Remedy Entertainment (Sony is planning to acquire Remedy based on the reception to this game and a few other variables. In terms of this game, think of a cross between Control, Star Trek and the film Gravity.)

· WiLD from Wild Sheep Studio (Back in 2017 the game was a mess and lacked direction with Michel Ancel devoting more time to Beyond Good & Evil 2. He is still on board just in a lesser capacity. The game has switched to Decima Engine and will be on PS4 and PS5.)

· New Action Title from London Studio (Actually inspired by Hellblade, this game is a short, but hopefully satisfying open world Guy Ritchie-like adventure.)

· New Action Title from Japan Studio (From the makers of Forbidden Siren, this game is more of a spiritual successor to Gravity Rush 2.)

Also, 15th of November is the release date of the PS5 if the pic is true.

definitely, but he didnt do that when he revealed scorpio which was 25% better per flop than the 1.3 tflops gcn 1.0 xbox one. he didnt do that when he said that the cpu was 4x more powerful even though by richard's own tests, the cpu is actually 6.8x more powerful than the jaguar cores. they also said that the ssd is 40x faster than the x1x even though a better comparison would be the base x1 which had a far lower hdd read speed.

it seems phil does draw the line somewhere.

oh yeah that's right Guerrilla Games allowed kojima to use the engine didn't they! i'll have to pick it up when it's on sale but it's just made me realise how good the next games will look using that engine.

Just a little bit of clarification about fp16 utilization on pro. Every game on pro by default uses it. It doesn't double performance, it makes certain things run a little faster and saves memory. No it doesn't require special work and knowledge to use. Just simple line of code for 16-bit Floating Point Conversion.
