Don't get me wrong, it's not amazing by any stretch of the imagination, but it doesn't look as shit as I first thought.

It's definitely not a true representation of the capability of next gen IMO, but it's certainly a generation or two above what you see with Diablo.

I think we're all just waiting for someone to leak that they have a PS Meeting invitation. If it's in early/mid February like everyone is claiming it to be, then we should hear something over the course of this week into the next.

I think Microsoft will stay quiet until the early Spring.

oh don't get me wrong, it's still my type of thing, I sank hundred of hours into each souls game are they were hardly lookers most of the time.

But I see nothing in this (or the original trailer recently released) that couldn't be done on current gen. it's not a next generation defining example to me.

If this came from a first party studio to demonstrate next-gen capabilities, it would be Genji: Giant Enemy Crabs-levels of bad. Coming from a third party though? It's decent enough, but definitely not next-gen defining, I agree

Which of these points characterizes the fact that xbox is better funded ?

1) Sony will be backward compatible with the ps4. You know perfectly well why they did not have backward compatibility with the ps3(I Hope this is not necessary to explain)
And we still don't specifically know the capabilities of the ps5 (Who knows. Suddenly it will be delivered with all backward compatibility)

2) Absolute stupidity. In each of their new studios,there are 3-4 teams(Theory, Obsidian and other), the number of which may be much less than even 120 people at Bend
You know very well that Bend made the first AAA in 15 years. Now that their game is successful, they will be expanded(Perhaps even to two teams). Also, you should consider large outsourcing, which makes your argument even more ridiculous and fanatical. Also, Sony itself has about 5 support teams(Xdev, ICE-Team, VASG, Sony San-mateo, and another one whose name I forgot). Also, from next year there will be another one in Malaysia

3) Part of the second paragraph. You can hire developers from the outside, for the arcade. I hope you don't need to explain about simulators( Polyphony Digital, which are recognized by the FIA (International Federation))

4) Subjective judgments. Some people like some genres. Other others. Microsoft does this not because they are strongly for the consumer, but because they need to fill in the game pass when there is no influx of huge AAA
Let me remind you that the dominant genres in the AAA environment are first-person shooters and third-person games. Also, Sony has already said that it has created a new initiative "PsLoveIndie". From there, and wait for other genres and stuff. Sony also has several small teams and third-party partners who are able to provide all this

I don't think Kojima has any interest in working on another MGS Game.

He is his own boss now, he can do as many freaking shit he wants to do and there are enough people with money out there who are willing to invest in him.

When was this originally put out? "Time to Play" was used on PS official videos in November last year. The leak also states Sony will be at E3 this year.

Funny shit is some ppl still prefer and get caught up in cutscene bs, live action trailers and what not as oppossesd to real gameplay. I thought tht was all over with when ppl got tired of Microsofts live action trailers and cgi graphics years ago tht weren't representative of games but I see we still have a few ppl here tht prefer tht 🤦‍♂️I was happy when Sony moved the medium to live gameplay Demos like Uncharted 2, God of War, etc and others followed suit.

Again Godfall combat looks great and cant wait. I'll take live gameplay over cutscene bs any day especially given the restrictive nature and repetitiveness of the first Hellblade. It was decent to good but you can tell where it cut so many corners.

I get the Feb reveal is possible if Sony hadn't revealed and talked PS5 via wired articles in april and october of 2019. What's the point behind having a dedicated PS5 event in Feb like they did in feb 2013 for PS4 when they need to make room for more such marketing events as we get closer to the launch of the console? Is a Feb 2020 PS5 event necessary when they could/should hold an event right after Microsoft presents their E3 conference (Sony could do this event in NYC).

I don't understand why is this excuse constantly being used when time and time again it's being proven that opposite happens - games get optimized which is a fancy name for downgrade. But for some reason people continue to think a game will only look better closer to release. Can you show me all those games which ended up looking so much better than the earlier presentation material?

It's not about how much cash MS's gaming division has to spend, it's about whether or not a studio is open to being acquired (and specifically by MS) - and their acquisitions have one of two things in common
  • A. Dev close to bankruptcy relying on kickstarters to stay in business
  • B. Dev already deep within the MS ecosystem

God of War clone as far as I can see. Jeez even the name.

The particle effects, level design, enemy design etc are straight up copys/reskins of GoW (dad). [with a SciFi tinge] Extremely derivative product.

Excited for the game ;)

No one is saying the person that leaked it has to be Cerny or Jim Ryan himself. There would be plenty of people who know that info but arnt privy to Sony's future plans beyond the reveal show. And a leak like this isn't going to come from anyone of importance is it? It's gonna come from some guy who came across it.

Ps1 and 2 emulation has been done. That's no issue. The issue is will they allow higher resolution and frame rate, however that's not some simple catch all implementation. There's a reason the one x still doesn't allow everything to do that, it's not so simple. Imagine the bad press Sony would get when PS2 games run at low frame rates... you get the idea. So, j would expect PS1 and Ps2 games to play but in their classic visual settings.

And even then, i would expect them to be store only versions, I.e. stuff you can already buy. The ps4 didn't even allow this, so that's a big gain there.

PS4 I would say is in the bag pretty darn easy it would essentially turn the system into a pro, and you would get pro enhancements. Anything more than that, well it's possible, but not likely. I would say for PS4 you may get a blank deal like better anisotropic filtering, but it would run at pro levels.

the real contender here, is ps3. This is the doozie. I would say your best bet here is a pet game basis, like Xbox did for the 360 games. I just can't see them doing a catch all software emulation type thing here. The system is an utter twat to emulate, and it's very power hungry to get it working. so for this, I expect the big releases to be there day one, and others to follow.

I certainly don't expect you to be able to put your disk in and play. At the very most, they will do a disk check like Xbox, and it will download a digital copy (while the disk serves as copy protection).

but this is just my ramblings.

Well there is something that OsirisBlack OsirisBlack have said that makes me question his sources and IF he is right, he said that Xbox Series X will have a GTX 1080 Ti levels of Ray Tracing so it means that it is software ray tracing meaning it is doing it through GPU shaders, which is completely false.

Microsoft did confirm multiple times that Xbox Series X will have hardware ray tracing that is going to be like Nvidia's RTX cards where it has dedicated hardware to simulate those effects. Look at all these times that they have said.

I think OsirisBlack may have made a mistake here, It's why I have doubts with his sources as he was wrong with the PS4 Pro (PS4 Neo rumors at that time) rumors.

Oh, yes. Maybe a even more accuraty PS1 emulator. Ryzen CPU is just to good for doing emulation. Its up to Sony after all.

He also said the PS4 Pro was going to have a Better processor, 4K Blu-Ray Player, as well as have Deep Down as an exclusive.

Side Note I'm having a hard time seeing how innovative that God Fall gameplay is. Looks like a pretty hack and slash.

lol obsidian and ninja theory werent cheap or small devs on the verge of bankruptcy. they are about the same size as naughty dog, GG, Evo and sucker punch when they were bought out by sony.

you dont go and buy 500 man teams like cyberpunk. 100 dev teams is what you want to buy. doesnt mean they are are cheap or on the verge of bankruptcy.

Another example is 2020 Sony TVs don't even have HDMI 2.1 and are lacking important new gaming features their competition will have. Basically it'll be best to use a Sony PlayStation 5 on a non-Sony TV.

he said his dev sources gave him this info months ago. its possible this was before they received the devkits with hardware rt. they were probably emulating the rt using software ray tracing like the one we saw in the crytek demo.

both ms and sony should have the same hardware rt solutions. MS just seems a bit behind. jason confirmed this.

Bruh

I think a loot slasher definitely isn't going to be the definitive showing of next gen, but the particle effects, lighting, and textures look a clear bound above current gen to me. Also looks like it has some telltale signs of a smooth 60fps, even in this choppy video.
