I don't take anything personal and I wont take it personal if I am wrong and people poke me with sticks.

I wont put anything out as being 100% because I don't know anything 100% when it comes to this stuff.

I just try to share what I can with people and hope they are good with that.

I don't want anyone to say yup, he said it so its 100% happening.

Honestly if its revealed during a state of play I'm going to be dissapointed. It lacks impact and hype build up. The fact you mention your source is someone within SIE tho 👀👀

Ok just one question pretty please. Would your other source in the 11+TF camp be from SIE too? But how would the first one even know if XSX is 10?

Thanks alot for sharing your information without hiding it behind riddles or teases.
Do you know if any the rumored acquisitions or third party partnerships are true?
I feel like software and services will be MUCH more important than the hardware itself next gen and I hope Sony responds to Microsofts pressure.

imho thats a mistake. they completely leave the stage for MS.
I know many gamers for whom it is a great thing to get together once a year and celebrate their hobby

not participating at e3 in the year of the new consoles isnt a smart move for me.

Think you can ask your birdie friend sometime what leads them to speculate 9.5/10TF? Particularly regarding XSX, because APU shots have been show and folks have estimated it around 400mm2-405mm2. 10TF on an APU that big just feels too low to me?

At the same time, if they told you about the E3 stuff then they were definitely right about that (unfortunately; I wanted to see Sony at E3 this year). Dunno how I feel about a SoP, unless they plan a bigger event closer to E3 time or maybe even at Gamescom. But given current silence SoP seems like it could be what they are doing.

Uncharted4, Horizon, God of War were made in 1.84 Gcn Tflops, garbage-tier cpus and mechanical hard drives.

We are about to get blown in awe.

Hell, even Ryse was amazing and it ran on a 1.18Tflops piece of poop

10 Navi TF == 12,5 Gcn TF. 2x Xone X or 3x Ps4 Pro.

The X and Pro versions distort the reality of things, in fact, the jump is on the Xbox one 2013 and Ps4 base 2013. It is an absurd leap.

I knooooow but I was hoping both camps would double current mid gen refresh and THEN SOME for extra measure. Guess not. But that's ok i'll still be stupid excited for what we end up with. :)

It's the equivalent of a 7x increase over the PS4. Or 7 OG PS4s taped together.

I thought 40% was the max efficiency we'd expect, whereas a better number to use is a 25% increase in efficiency on average.

It's not just the size of the xsx Apu its because everything point to ms investing very little in die space to RT unlike Sony. The only RT hardware in the sxs reading the patients are fixed function intersection testing engines in the TMUs no tensor like cores to eat up space. I'm guessing Sony will have tensor like cores or fixed function units for some common RT calls or functions and cache eating die space that is how I could see Sony being only 10tf.

Why keep doing that in my 40 plus years of gaming we never done that. Math is math of course new architecture is more efficient. A tf is a TF period comparing generations you just use common sense on the efficiency gains. This whole is beyond terrible and needs to end it let's companies off the hook for to small of an upgrade. They need to be called out like last generation for half assing it when they do.

To me, this adds up. With how vague Phil spencer and microsoft in general have been about actually confirming "12 teraflops" and using vague rhetoric like "twice as powerful as Xbox one X." The only people running with the 12 teraflop number are unofficial MS mouth pieces like tom warren and xbox fan boys on youtube.

I have to be honest. When you started asking how would people feel if there was no specs just some videos or whatever, I assumed in an event specific to PlayStation 5 like other presentations they have done.
This sounds more like a drive-by, .. I'll just leave this here.. type of scenario. If that's the case, that's just terrible. Hardly representative of a high level product to be released this year.

depends on the state of play and the content, could be epic. they need to get heisenburg Sid out in front more often, he is awesome. Or get someone like Billy Connolly or Ricky Gervaise to walk us through.
 
9 RDNAflops are equivalent with 12-13 GCNflops, so their goal was 12-13 Flops at a time, they don't have anything other than GCN to work with.

Maybe from there comes the different Flopnumbers. Did they update their target-spec-sheets very often?^^

MS will be eaten alive if Series X is less than 12TF. Tbh they they only said twice Xbox One X which can mean anything depending on if you consider RDNA efficiencies or not.
 


Thought it'd be worth sharing; interesting perspective as always. Fanboys on both sides are gonna be licking wounds when they see how similar Sony and MS's business plans align going into the next few years. Truth is they aren't just competing against each other anymore, so those changes will be necessary. We're already seeing them on both sides.

Sounds about right. MS going for more overall power but less specialized ray-tracing, so devs will have to implement some of their own ray-tracing algorithms in software through the GPU (could be seen as a negative, but also a positive i.e allowing more flexibility). Sony going with less overall power but more dedicated ray-tracing tech to lift that burden off developers more than MS's approach, but gives less room for flexibility.

Tradeoffs on both ends and it'll be fun to see how devs use them (especially 1st-party ones).
