the pro doesnt have any vapor chambers inside. the thermal paste and pads for ram heat suck as. cleaned mine out the other day when i redid my disk drive and its a pos. the X is a beast when it coems to size and cooling

Seeing as the ps5 will be compatible with Ps4 games, will matter? Don't know about you but if I pick up a new game, knowing the Ps4 is around the corner, I'd play it on the pro then on the ps5 when I pick it up.

Offtopic but yes, Sars has nothing on Coronavirus.

Note: Graph below is a few days old, it's since surpassed 14,000 cases and is growing in infection rate each day.

I am just trying to prepare people for a possible console release delay.
We dont know where all this is heading . Might be over in a week or it might be way but way worse than anything before.

I think we should all lower our expectations of a 2020 release.

All i am saying.

When it comes to stat tracking like this, make sure to take in consideration how data was collected.

Back when SARS happened, it was an out of the blue thing. Since then, China has amped up health and safety when things like this happen so more people will get tested.

It's like comparing cases of austism. It seems in the past 20 years, every other house on the block has an autistic kid, while when I grew up going to school in the 80s and 90s, nobody heard of it, no kids seemed to have it, and no students got labeled it.

Doesn't mean there wasn't autism back then. It was there, but classified and tested more. So it now it shows up more in stat books.

I remember reading somewhere a similar example where someone brought up people in Sweden have more cases of cancer per capita than African countries. Well, that's because people in Sweden go to the doc and have equipment to test it.

I still think there is a very very small chance it's shown during the game tomorrow. Other than that I think they have to show it off at/before GDC (3/16). Word will carry so much. Half the people there will be under NDA, half the people won't. You can at least count on some real leaks after GDC.

If they don't have something during the game tomorrow, you can count out weekends for sure.
Shu will be back in the US on the 27th for Pax East.

Main issue with the coronavirus is a person can infect others while they themselves show no symptoms.

14 day incubation period.

The real clampdown only happened in China mid Jan. I'd expect the increase in numbers of infected to start declining in a week or so.

Worldwide ... no real issue. Pretty well contained.

The main thing is it has a mortality rate of 2%. The standard flu is around 1%. SARS was closer to 20%.

This isn't the end of the world. We aren't all gonna die or be left in a zombie waste land.

Relax.

Now please can we move this corona shite out of this thread.

I know you get a lot of backslash from some guys, when you speculate/predict this kind of stuff, but really, that's what this thread is about, and is desperately needing! _ ffs it has turned into a Corona virus/first-party PC ports, discussion thread (well to be fair, sometimes we get some drive by shiting post about how it turned into shit).

I have the Sony Xperia XZ1 compact (that's the link and you can sheck out the new line on homepage) and it's all there: Sony BRAVIA display tech, Alpha cameras tech and features, Sony sound... I had the old Xperia Z before and it was the same thing. I even did a quick search at that new Xperia X line, and saw that now they got a X1 and BIONZ X processors for mobile. They are sharing tech between divisions, so let's wait and see how it goes with ps5 before jumping into Wrong conclusions.

Unfortunately the best we have wright now, on AMDs RDNA new gen for comparison, is the NAVI cards tests _ the 5700 XT can go up to 9.7tf at boost mode, and manages 4k 30 and even 60 FPS at some games. But those are testings of current gen games! And without RT! So how many Tfs we need for next gen more demanding games and with Ray Tracing at native 4k? Make your bets.

two thoughts:
  • 4k and RT means next gen will be a disappointment wrt framerates. Maybe next next gen unless 8k and more RT eats up those power advances. So next next next gen. But even then, you'll be able to spend your resources on nicer gfx and make your game chug. minmum power for great frame rates thus being ∞ power.
  • Or, low power x1s & ps Oberon baseline will force devs to make leaner games and just 'upscale' to more powerful machines; and users can choose frame-rate mode or RT+4k mode for their new 75" 8K oled monstrosities. So 9-10 TF next gen will be enough.
Personally, I'd have preferred if resolution stayed at 1080 for next gen. then we'd see great framerates and way better effects usage. Also, streaming services could use less compression for feeds. But tv guys need to sell tvs.
