Yeah, I saw people's reaction online and also thought they might show something. Even some Xbox YouTubers and personalities were made to believe that there would be something shown. I guess I forgot to expect the worst when it comes to Xbox marketing.

Wait, what? Just earlier in the thread people were celebrating Sony NOT "wasting money" on a Superbowl ad. Now MS forgoes a Superbowl ad and it's "bad marketing"? Where's the consistency xD?!?

TBF, I also thought they'd have something XSX-related, but definitely nothing like a big reveal or something to say "Pre-order Now!" or whatever. I actually more expected a Madden ad with a slip in there referencing XSX and/or xCloud streaming with Surface and XSX, but primarily about next-gen Madden.

That's the most I personally expected, but even that was pushing it. They weren't really that misleading, either, considering the reality of expectations. I.e who was honestly expecting a full XSX reveal, promo, pre-order trailer etc. in FEBRUARY? When the system doesn't launch until October or November, in the FALL? No one but the looniest of loons were expecting anything near that, let's not exaggerate the outrage here.

A lot of people thought it would be something Halo Infinite related, like maybe a live action trailer. And I didn't mean it was bad marketing that they didn't show an ad in and of itself, but rather that they were alluding like there would be something big Xbox related and then showed nothing.

Sorry you convinced yourself Sony not announcing a date for the reveal at the end of January ruled out the entire month of February.
Don't know why people think that, there's still enough time for an event to happen in February. And there's always the possibility for a SoP.

What does that mean? I mean the comment from ResetEra.
Febth. Something is happening in February, confirmed.
(Or they are trolling).

Remote Play without Internet connection? Isn't it mandatory today?
I think you don't need to be connected to the internet in your home, when I have remote play enabled with "connect directly with a PS Vita/Vita TV", the PS4 shows as a Wi-Fi hotspot.

Hmmm.....maybe expecting some Halo: Infinite related stuff wouldn't be too out-of-line, to be sure. But the game doesn't come out until the fall. They'd probably want to save that kind of stuff closer to late Spring before ramping up advertising for that game.

That said, I could make the same point about Sony; why no TLOU2 ad at Superbowl? They've done Superbowl ads for M-rated games before, they just (wisely) don't show the M-rated stuff. And TLOU2 is coming out this summer. If people are complaining about no Halo: Infinite spot at the Superbowl, why not apply that same consistency/standard to TLOU2? Or any other upcoming AAA game release?

That's the thing I don't like and I've seen that double-standard be applied against MS-related stuff for a hot minute now. It makes people lose credibility in my eyes because that stuff you should be able to apply fairly to all the console vendors and game releases. Kinda like how people were, again, saying "good thing Sony isn't wasting money on a Superbowl ad", but then when MS doesn't "waste money" on a Superbowl ad, they're suddenly bad and were lying to gamers? In what way? It's a damned-if-you-do, damned-if-you-don't situation but I'm only seeing it held against MS lately and that's not being fair and balanced IMHO.

I can see how some people were expecting more than what they got (myself included), but I think part of that is due to how little we've been given solid info and demonstrations of either next-gen system. We're just hungry for more news in general, and it's maybe making us blow up our expectations too big.

But, that's just another day in the life of us next-gen forum dwellers xD.

Could mean anything. It's a play on "I plead the fifth", which means I refuse to answer a question.

Could mean something is happening on Feb fifth, or Feb in general.
Could also simply mean that he's not going to answer.

Quoted post mentions "3 weeks". That's the 24th.

The 3 weeks is referencing a poster who was banned for 3 weeks.
The screencap of the post is cut off. The poster asks Acrid if he's team Feb.

He also said "Blame (banned poster) if the reveal is delayed."
So that could be implying that the reveal will happen within the next 3 weeks.

Definitely hard to not read something into the "plead the febth". Even though we have nothing official there is still smoke surrounding February, but we have no idea where the fire is.

A part of me thinks that we are getting something in February, but I don't expect the Full Full Full reveal quite so soon. Maybe a teaser of sorts in February and the full reveal later in the year shortly before or after E3

IMO the VMU was better than small built-in screens because you could detach the VMU and use it like a Tamagotchi. Yeah, it straddled the line of OG Gameboy and a Game.com in terms of power, and didn't have any dedicated games made for it IIRC, but it offered a convenience that built-in second screens don't.

Like, picture a Joy-Con with a small monochrome LCD screen, and you have a VMU.

Ok, but that's kind of my point. As something to use with the gamepad, it wasn't really great. You had to remove it and use it as a portable gaming device (that was really limited, otherwise people would have more good examples of it besides the "Chaogotchi").

Unless it's something like Nintendo Switch (which we all know it won't happen), i don't see the point.

That is an acquired patrician taste that many would reject.

Yeah your thumbs would be "relaxed" I guess but I don't know if that's the best angle for your thumbs to be at for gaming. I'd have to try that controller out for a while.
I have zero issues with thumb fatigue or cramping on the DS4 controller and I have long ass piano fingers.

Btw, as i'm watching a video that showed up (recommended) on youtube, can we expect next gen games to have the same detail as the reveal trailers of Watch Dogs and The Division?

Absolutely, I don't see why not.

Man I hope we don't get a SoP reveal. A SoP tease for a reveal would be ok tho.

Absolutely, I don't see why not.

Since it's open worlds and we (kinda) expect 60fps, that's why i asked. Hope that you're right since i would love to see that kind of detail in games, like the lighting, visual effects (smoke, snow, wind blowing leafs/trash, etc), quantity of objects and npc's on screen, and so on.

You need internet connection today for authentication and use Remote Play even in local network.
So Sony is asking if you want them to remove that and allow local remote play without need internet connection.

Well, some date in February, Feb..th.

You can guess from 4 to 29. :D

Pleading the fifth is to not self incriminate. The only thing the poster is fully implying is that it will be in Feb.

C'mon guys where are the insiders?? We want some fake news, it's getting boring at this point 😣

We just got confirmation from a verified insider at Sony on the other site that said something is taking place this month. It must be digital or invites are going to start going out this week. If it was an event with the press on location, we find out within the next 11 days for sure.

Also I would like to add, if they are doing it at PaxEast (I doubt) you don't need to send invites out. 100's of press already there. Sony is already confirmed to be there.

I really hope so

Question is how much reworking would they have to do to make it next-gen standards for something like Watch Dogs? Definitely some enhancements on next-gen for sure to make it on par as a reveal trailer. I'll have to check the trailer again. Usually those never feel like the final gameplay in retail.

I was hyped when I saw the Division 1 reveal Trailer. Even the sequel didn't look anything like it.

I think there is going to be at least 1500 pages of fluff talk on this topic until we will see something regarding ps5. Sometime around E3 is the best go
