Upping the RAM is not in the same ballpark. In fact, increasing RAM capacity is one of the easiest parts of a system design to change relatively late. 360 did that too (increaesd 256MB to 512MB),

Matt and Kleegamefan both have seen the GitHub leak with us and they denied it, actual insiders with credible sources verified by ResetEra, THEY have the information and they have seen both, what they have from their trusted developer sources and what that GitHub leak suggests, and guess what, they both DENIED IT!

They have the upper hand in saying if those leaks are TRUE or NOT, and Richard Leadbetter from Digital Foundry has also stated that 'it lacks context'.

Jason Schreier as well has been pretty sure from what he heard that both consoles are gonna be 'more powerful than the Nvidia RTX 2080 graphics card'.....many other developers have stated that the consoles are basically like twins, they are neck-to-neck.

IF the GitHub Oberon leak is TRUE for PlayStation 5, then the console wouldn't even clock at 2000 MHz to even begin with, it would be 8 to 8.5 TF, not 9.2 as 2000 MHz is too much for a console and it would not work, that is a fact.

Well, if the PS5 is 8 TF or around it then you'll see many reports stating that it is way weaker than Xbox Series X, but lo and behold, at E3 2019, many developers are saying that the PlayStation 5 is more powerful than the Xbox Series X and TO ADD MORE FUEL TO THE FIRE, Arthur Gies from Polygon stated that the 12 TF for Xbox Series X was discussed and was known by developers at that time, so how is in that time, the PS5 is stronger? So PS5 must be stronger than 12 TF, and keep in mind, even in that time, both console manufacturers are pretty locked in with their main chips.

And Matt did NOT state Xbox is more powerful, he GUESSED it, it was his guesstimate, not a confirmation, he stated it back in June 2019 when he didn't have full info of both consoles and their targets, now he knows everything about the specs according to Kleegamefan, please stop spreading misinformation.

It also disregards Sony's past of having multiple revisions of hardware in devkits leading up to the final unit. But just let them believe.


They really need to ask themselves why there are at least 3 devkits for ps5.

Right now there's a 50/50 chance either of the two is right.
If it wasn't for those odd glaring inconsistencies (no mention of RT and some weird mistakes), I would also be dead certain that the github leak most popular interpretation holds true.

BUT it could also be that some of the holes are decorative.. I think the PS3 og model had a lot of decorative venting holes on it just have a more uniform look

Listen I'm a fan of all consoles, I do prefer Xbox, but I'm not some mentalist that will tattoo Phil Spencer or Kaz onto his Knob like a few people here.

And do honestly want the two consoles to be on par, and be virtually the same damn thing. It's the best thing for all of us as gamers. Otherwise shit will get a bit messy in terms of shitty ports and whatever.

But I'm starting to think that maybe now, the Ps5 may be more powerful. No reason other than gut. All these things being said left and right about how it's a bit more powerful, well, there's no smoke without fire. And while I do also believe the final silicon hasn't reached 99% of these people for either console, I dunno, I just now can't shake that feeling. I started being 100% sure that the SX would be a lot more powerful, then I went to them being on par, but now I feel it may have gone the other way.

And that would be awful, because the last thing Sony needs, is to dominate 100%. They need competition. And a weak ass Xbox with no support and no proper backing is NOT competition.

At this point of course I'm still getting both. We put aside a grand and a half for the new consoles. But if MS make a massive cock up and show they are far behind... well I may even skip the SX at launch this time and just go PS5. And for me to say that... thems' fightin' words in this house, lol.

If someone repeats something long enough and loud enough, you'll eventually start to believe it. But between certain people claiming to be credible but turning into console warrior trolls (like Tommy) and continuous benchmarks and hard data that keeps consistent with a particular frame of reference, it still looks like the XSX will have the edge in most areas.

Some people keep saying one thing but actual information with some tests and data backing it up keeps saying something different. And I don't think either side (again, outside of people who've very obviously shown themselves out) has an agenda against the other system.

With that said, I go with the information that I can look at myself, verify myself, analyze myself and then think about, ultimately.

Have been told by a couple of people that was just a mockup and not the real thing.

Also, when you see something like that in a preproduction it can something that was done to address an issue now that will not be in the final.

More specifically, the airflow in that version of the console was drawing through all the vents on the back and they found that having air flow through all the vents wasn't working as intended. Thus, if you block the top half of the vent all the air flows in from the bottom rather than the full grate and then vents through the top like a chimney and provided better thermals.

that is assuming this is real in some form and not a mock up.

The leak that had ratchet and Clank had an almost unbelieveable amount of launch titles including both Socom and Killzone as launch titles. I find it hard to believe a studio would release 2 games especially of the same genre at once.

I'm with you, strong competition keeps things the best for all with 3rd party titles, etc. And I don't care about tiny differences in native resolution or a few FPS. As long as they are fairly consistent, it will all be good. I don't think I can envision either company at this point being very far behind the other. Not unless they were going for completely different markets and strategies, like one going for a high end top dollar gamer setup while the other was going for low end consumer mass adoption. I think both Sony and MS want mass adoption, etc. So I expect both to be pretty much equivalent. Or at least as far as 99% of gamers are concerned. The fanboys that want to argue about an extra frame per second or two, or that native resolution...I'm sure THEY will still have plenty to shout about!

It was already covered by R600 (and maybe a few others IIRC) why no RT was mentioned; the chips were being ran through regression tests, and RT was on a different block which was disabled, since it wouldn't be needed for regression tests at PS4 and PS4 Pro clocks.

There were some oddities with that particular Github leak, true, but further database mining for benchmark testing have unraveled Oberon tests stepped further than that with generally the same characteristics in terms of chip size and whatnot.

Another poster the other day mentioned that there could've been additional CUs on Oberon disabled because, if Oberon was being tested for regression, it would mirror the GPU functionality of the PS4 Pro's chip, where some CUs are outright disabled to run PS4 games without any Pro features turned on. I can buy into that speculation, because it fits in with both the datamined benchmarks and what some insiders are claiming. It would also mean PS5's TF performance would be notably higher than 9.2TF while being able to lower the clocks to a more realistic level...

...what that theory doesn't explain though, is why Oberon has been getting tested at 2GHz clocks in the first place. Maybe for enhancing PS4 titles with some PS5 level performance but only 36CUs would be active and the others (say, 16 CUs (four of those always disabled for better yields), that way it's only some of the active chip running at that clock which would keep thermals better managed? Dunno.

Something we'll hopefully learn more about in the next few weeks...

it's pretty good. I played it right when I got my PSP 2000 back in the day and hooked it up to a TV... the aliasing was atrocious tho sadly the 2000 didn't support any output my CRT supported so I had to hook it up to my 40" HD TV. only the 3000 and Go supported common CRT cables.
