Can't wait for the 5th to see AMDs stuff and their Ray Tracing solution. TBH I don't expect it to have the same performance as RTX. I expect it to perform worse. But who knows.

Can't wait to see it anyway.

Soooo was thinking. The dualshock 5 is gonna have a microphone in it as alluded to in one of the wired articles, which suggests the patent for the integrated ai assistant is gonna make it into the ps5, right?

Well that means theres gonna be a fairly sophisticated voice recognition system built into the system at an OS level. Sure, it will be used for eg asking the system to search YouTube for help with your game. But also no reason developers wont be able to leverage the same tech for use in their actual games, without having to create complex software themselves to pull off speech recognition, can effortlessly integrate voice input.

We've never had anything like this in a console before. Should allow for an unprecedented level of verbal interaction in games. Imagine that bit in the film 'Her' where the solution to the puzzle in the game was telling the character to go f**k himself, ha, I'm sold.

Anyway its not gonna be for everyone but scope for some fresh stuff here. Maybe this is one of those 'differentiating factors' Ryan was talking about, might also lead to whole new genres like ea spoke of.
 
I should emphasize that having 11 vs 12 or 12 vs 13 is basically negligible and we end up basically with two capable and powerful machines which is fantastic. Having said that Microsoft actually NEEDS any power differentiator more than Sony, way more than Sony actually.

For MS to face a 13TF PS5 coming after ultra successful PS4 armored with the fantastic games first party, improved DS5 and VR....it will be a massacre like this generation.

Notice how MS never shouted "power" this time, they always say "our most powerful console" or " most powerful Xbox" It seems they are not sure this time.

Do you think Sony uses an own digital assistant? That's not an easy thing to develop. And just for the PS5?
Maybe they will use Alexa or even tech from MS (as part of the cloud/Azure deal?).

MS has it's own assistant already.

MS has announced that XSX is 12TF RDNA2. What in the blue hell prevent Sony from having similarly specced machine?

Nothing. They will. It's common sense with what is available from AMD. I'm saying don't believe anything coming from any "insider". They are using leaks, amd roadmaps, white papers, and guessing with what will be available BUT claiming they know for a fact because they seen it or was told it by someone that supposedly knows. If you agree because you deducted these things as well, great. If you believe because it must be true because a Tommy, Klee, VFX, Osiris, etc. said so, you're being fooled.

I think Sony understood that consoles will become the choice for "serious" gamers, who want the highest gameplay quality, low latency, excellent framerate, no video artifacts, VR, 4k, etc...

On the other hand, streaming will be for casual players who don't care too much about the latency, video quality, etc...
Probably we'll be able to play PS5 through streaming on the day one for 14,99/mo. But with all the issues related to streaming, want the best experience, buy the console.

So PS5 will be directed to hardcore (in the meaning of who wants high-quality gameplay) and is disposed to pay for that.

Sony is well-positioned in these two fronts (Consoles and Streaming).

Of course, PSNow will receive a huge upgrade with the release of PS5.

While I'm still 10.5-11.5 (11.5 likely now, and I'll keep repeating this because even if I'm wrong I want to state my place as this is what I'm told), I will say this:

If PS5 comes out with more power than SX, that tf or so extra gain will not come cheap. It's not easy to push stuff that high, at all, and I imagine it will cost a pretty penny. It may only be an extra tf or so, but to get there requires a lot of cooling, reduces yields and all sorts of black magic. Not to mention the PS5 is already rumoured to have other parts that may cost more. But the gains are simply not worth it at all.

So there is a very good chance that there will be a bigger price gulf than we think between the two systems, that is, if it does indeed turn out to be higher.

Likewise though, the flipside is also true. If the PS5 happens to be slightly slower at 11.5, there's a possibility they can undercut the SX price and release cheaper. The losses over the SX in raw performance are tiny and barely worth mentioning.

We could very well be looking at an up to $100 difference here... crazy...

He was dealing in FUD, but yes, there are some people who are still spewing his FUD in here, along with others that joined that disinformation campaign.

The actual vetted insiders are not spewing that level of garbage. They are actually making grounded posts that are logically sound. Now whether what they say happens does remain to be seen.

Just got back. The GameStop by me has been open for a little over 6 years now. I went and spoke to the girl who was there. Seen here working there since last summer so I believe what she told me was legit.

She said she has not heard of any call lists being made yet.

She said that they wouldn't even start on one until the specs and prices for both systems are revealed and that they would have to be given the ok first by both Sony and Microsoft.

The man makes guesses for his little 15 seconds of online fame, and as others have said, has been mostly wrong. If he had any real info he wouldn't be wrong almost all the time. Also, it's funny how all those alleged insiders all have different info all the time. How does that even make any sense, as far as I know Sony is making only 1 PS5.
