Exactly my thoughts, games like frequency, it's always been the case. Faster and narrow trumps slow and wide as long as bottlenecks are removed from the pipeline.

TV, maybe, but headphones? I advice you to invest in some good ones, even with the XSX you'll be amazed. Just wait as you might not need to buy something very expensive as consoles seem to be doing it for you and might a good but simple 7.1 Channel headphone be enough.

I like loud and bass sound crushing my head, plus locality and sensing your surroundings. I just can't comprehend how good it'll be. Will wait and see what new headphone I'll go with, or just stick with Astro A40 with its mixer.

Interesting, but doesn't address that linear scaling performance is not guaranteed at higher clocks beyond sweetspot range. RDNA1 cards offered very poor performance gains at high clocks. RDNA2 cards will probably help with that, but I doubt it will be massively better on that front.
Basically it's more likely improvements between gains at higher frequencies and improvements on the frontend have improved about evenly from RDNA1 to RDNA2. But one thing about RDNA1 was that a lot of the frontend bottlenecks were fixed going to it from GCN. And I doubt that'd have stopped going from RDNA1 to RDNA2.
Also I'm curious of what features/changes Sony and MS have made to the CUs in their respective GPUs. Sony mentioned about certain features they didn't feel suited PS5's performance goals being cut, I'm just curious what those actually are. MS would have to of been aware of some of the potential drawbacks the person you quoted mentioned, and they seem to have a very strong relationship with AMD on the development front, so I'm wondering if they've made certain changes to the CUs on their end to compensate, such as larger L2 caches.

It is normal but the guy that accept and adapt to the changes has less issues with the life and most of time lives in a happy way.
These that have difficult to accept changes ends suffering more until accept them (some never accept tem at all and end living in the past).
Same for developers btw the industry is near to have a heavy change in how games are developed... some devs will do amazing things and other will stuck trying to defense the old way and probably even creating issues in a dev environment.

If you are reviewing with an agenda you shouldn't be allowed to review. The story is about a biker in the Pacific Northwest. Odds are the dude is going to be white. I read numerous reviews that complained about the "whiteness" of the character. A transgender biker on her quest for identity doesn't fit with the narrative. The gruff white biker dude does. Now this is from HZD, but this could also apply to any kind of game, like even fighting games (specially 3D)
Imagine you're playing a character in a 500m2 field, with all kind of stuffs (objects, animals, houses, castles ect)
With HDD this tech is simply not possible with high end graphics, so in that case usually all the 500m2 are actually display in the game, even those you don't see.
As you know, the little stuff GPU has to display, the more high of visual quality you get, for example in an open world, let's say RDR2, Artur could be much much more detail if he's the only thing that is in the console and that the GPU has to display, but of course it won't be a real game in that case lol, so there has to be a world around him, and so the more you add around the character and the world, the more it's hard to maintain high quality graphics, this is why games like RDR2 or GOW are praised, some other games are beautiful but they don't have the same level of detail and life in their world. That being said:
Now with SSD, especially one that is super fast, the console will only have to display the part you're seeing in the screen like shown in the gif above, so like only 25-33% of that 500m2 need to be display by the GPU, thanks for the SSD super fast streaming capacity, no extra work is needed for extra textures, objects and such that aren't in the screen anyway, so the GPU won't have to work near as close as much as if we were in the classic HDD model, that's why, or at least one of the reason devs are mostly excited about PS5 specs, and says you'll need to see the whole specs and not just the TF part.

Are you serious? Are there any links? He seems super confident of his sources and he apparently announced HZD PC version ahead of release. I just wanna know what PS exclusives could be coming to PC. If he has insider info in that, that could be huge. I don't wanna buy a PS5 if I know the majority of its library will be on PC. If the games he is teasing are just multiplayer games or 3rd party exclusives that's fine, but if more games move I probs wont stay locked to the console.I'm pretty sure

SeX also has some DLI (dynamic latemcy input) built in how the controller works. Maybe PS5 has something similar, maybe not.

You're still limited to what you have on screen by the amount of GPU power you have. The SSD does not provide that power, but it does allow you to push the GPU a little closer to it's limits in this regard, but it's only going to show you assets that have been loaded to RAM so in essance the SSD shoves assets to the RAM quicker, but I think the RAM is also limited by Bus and Bandwidth.

And that's what you keep missing, it comes directly from the SSD, except if we consider Mark Cerny as a clown or a liar, and I doubt any would consider him so. With XSX you just can't do it because the speed is not good enough, but you can do it in a 2-3 phase like in current gen when quality shows up when you look at some place like in AC games. But here you don't need the assets behind you at all, so you save A LOT. So you spare much more room for the GPU/RAM/CPU.

So controllers input lag is by far the less important thing compared to TVs, low latency TVs are around 15 ms. Guess this DLI won't make any true difference if there isn't anything else.

I've passed that era, I rarely play online, mostly squeeze every new SP game then stop gaming until the next game comes.
Input lag and I usually play on European servers with 150-180 ping still dominate most of the time on Uncharted 4 and extremely competitive fighting for 1st place on Battlefield
Now I just don't dig online gaming that much except with friends.

But I don't like the bass. I'll go with a playstation headset next or the new Sony WH-1000MX4 if it's 100% compatible.

The starting point is around 10ms, in general I am feeling that the marginal increment should not be that noticeable if the number according to this chart is accurate.

i dont think vfx ever really talked about series x. i do know he went from gtx 1080 to gtx 1080 ti performance around november. which is close to a 3 tflops difference. his range then became 9-12 tflops which i thought was hilarious.
of course the joke is on us now because vfx was right and we were all duped by fake insiders.

According to this assets still get loaded into System RAM, which in turn, is the bottleneck given the amount of bandwidth. Microsoft actually has the edge in bandwidth there, but lacks the SSD bandwidth to get it to the RAM. I know it's still apples to oranges, but the SSD and the amount it streams is only as good as the pipeline. I do agree that the PS5 definitely has it's benefits in loading assets, but I don't think people will notice all that much of a difference.
