I am figuring Sony has scheduled their announcement for tomorrow via a tweet (Tuesdays is their day of the week) and that some of these outlets got the ad a day early.

EDIT: I am incorrect in this assumption. Announced this afternoon.

Marketing campaigns for Christmas in Portugal cover a period from late October all the way to December. It is pretty much equivalent to the American "Holiday season" and very much a part of Portuguese culture.

Well our holiday season means Summer, but we don't care about all the differences we just need PS5 ASAP!:messenger_smiling_hearts:

Phil Spencer quoting an "Autumn" release instead of "Holiday" is interesting to me.

Holiday sales season really gears up in November in the US.. Autumn on the other hand starts late September (and goes until winter starts late December.)

But I feel like we'll be able to absorb a lot of that into the schedule, and I feel really good about our autumn launch.

They started production 2-3 weeks earlier I think, so that could work.

I would not doubt them if they shot for the September/October window. They'll get ahead of the holiday curve and have more time to advertise their Console(s). Especially if they want to get the Casuals in on it.

Are we 100% sure that this ad is comming from Sony?

I can do the same ad, using their website banner and run it on youtube right now.

Wating for Sony confirmation.

Edit: As saintjules saintjules pointed out, the fact that the ad is being shown in multiple languages (geo locations) gives a bit more of credibility.

I guess we'll see. The ad is being shown in multiple languages. Tomorrow they may make the announcement on Twitter or later today since they probably see the news of the new date being pushed out now.

Re. Lockhart do you guys think that it might end up being a "streaming box" dedicated to xCloud and not a proper standalone console?

My personal take on the Lockhart is that it would be a similar SKU to the Series X, just without the 4K glamour.

I don't know, if they make the Lockhart a digital, streaming box it would be a miss for them imo. This is if we're talking about it without having a disc drive. My understanding is that it's meant to be the cheaper option/entry point into next-gen. I'm not sure MS would want to alienate part of their user fanbase that still uses physical discs to play their games and that can't afford the $499+ price tag. It would go against their 'no one left behind in the ecosystem' plan.

Imagine someone wanting to say, 'OK, I want to get into the next-gen, but man, that Series X is too much in price. Oh, there's the Lockhart and it's cheaper, I'll go for that. What? No physical drive? I have to get the Series X for the drive to play my old disc games?' No doubt I'd see this scenario happen.

Did we ever get any information on how successful the Xbox One SAD Edition was?

If that Twitch ad was fake, wouldn't a representative already have officially dismissed it?
