Let's hope that gave MS a reality check, making its prime title a laughing stock. I was really, really, eagerly waiting to play this, and was planning to upgrade the newly bought Radeon VII to a new Big Navi to take full advantage of it:

I question whether or not Halo is a good fit for a hyper realistic visual. They probably should have gone with something more (intentionally) cartoonish in style (borderlands, everwild, etc.), especially if they wanted a game big in scope on Xbone. Although, fans would have probably thrown a fit at the idea.

Yes I know, I also make fun of Halo because I think is well deserved.
I am talking seriously the RT will not fix the assets of xbox one gen or the materials but I found interesting to found how XSX scale in engine which doesn't looks
top tier.
For example this kind of games should has RT sound but is they introduce RT reflection we can say goodbye or the 60 fps or almost 4k (probably 1440p).
Agree the game of Rare could looks gorgeous always they maintain an average of quality in its assets and not only in one of them (the water of Sea of Thieves).
But if they go to far with the Cel Shading I think the reception will be also bad if happens to Zelda of course will happens to Halo.

I think RT GI would make most sense in an open world like this (almost seems like they had to make compromises to enable this or rather - I hope this is the case..)
Anyways im just guessing, I havnt read about its RT implementation..

I loved ME Andromeda with all its flaws, and love exploring new worlds in it. The CGI beginning made a mild shock to me of that planet mining! Then the gameplay totally killed me. I didn't watch the stream, I watch the 4K@60fps version.

Yeah it was a simple joke, I don't think we'll get full path tracing for obvious reasons but jokes a part considering the state of the game as of now maybe 343 doesn't even know themselves what kind of RT it will have.
I don't know if the 60fps dream is dead,I mean this game is obviously not representative of the Xsx power.I think that the game will first need to be patched for the problem that couldn't be fixed by the time it releases.
Then an RT but now 343 seems way behind schedule so I have no doubt there will be raytraced sound and lights but I wonder more about when.

I played the first three at least. They were good. I am not huge on first person shooters. I'll play a Call of Duty or something once in a while but I don't really like FPS games all that much. Wanted to play Halo though....I enjoyed them a lot. But...not worth buying a console just for that...not for ME at any rate. I know some people who have.

So I was digging through the patent records here in the UK and stumbled across this one. SIE have filed a patent for machine learning that will record clips of what happens in your games on it's own by identifying if what you did would of been a play of the game esque moment or if you did something cool.

I think at the moment the biggest issue is that the underlying software / dev tools are not there yet for MS. They normally get the nod in terms of having greater experience in software, but I don't think their structure is right for delivering this sort of thing on a very tight time scale. I think it's generally accepted that Sony were ahead in terms of hardware development (time wise). They also have really good teams making the tools and OS side now.
MS haven't properly shown an XSX playing an XSX games, even their own studios. That tells you where they are. It will likely be a rough launch but they will improve quickly. I think an advantage, albeit small, will start showing in third party stuff after 6m to a year. Will that do any real damage? Not sure.

I love this idea. I'd pondered the switch from share to create but never came up with a decent reason. This sounds great coupled with really fast game start times.

To be honest, most of PS Studios games don't have very long load times. GOT for example has probably the fastest loading screens ever on an HDD this gen.
For me, Days Gone shocked me of how wonderful it is, the critics killed it for being mostly "white" and "straight", not kidding, check out some reviews. I like finished 95% of the game collectibles, but destroyed all the hives and so. It's always better to clear some areas so you don't get headaches during missions of the hordes, it's both thrilling and fun though. The acting is brilliant and feels so natural to me.

Man, just wanted to say I saw the thread on Era where they banned you. The amount of hostility you received by people on there for bringing up any kind of possible conflict of interest or differences in analysis videos by Mr. Battaglia was quite alarming. But I applaud you for standing up to what looked like a pretty strong echo chamber.

Yeah I might play it before PS5 then; recently moved my PS4 Pro to my desk where I sit (I know, monitors aren't the best, but it's just more comfortable) and it's motivating me to tackle my rather extensive PS backlog.
I love the sound of the game; clearing hordes is my jam lol

You'll love it, if you're confident in your skills go to the highest difficulty, but it can be brutal.
Some areas surrounded by hordes you nearly shit yourself while silently approaching them where you sometimes have no good space to escape through.EDIT: The music doesn't help as well.

I dont remember but i dont remember them being a nuisance either like Bloodborne at launch. Generally speaking, i dont really use fast travel in open world games unless im on the opposite side of the map. Game does a great job of keeping you going without forcing you to fast travel. Also love my bike.
And yes, the hordes are amazing, but dont expect to take them on right away. It will take you at least 10-15 hours to get some of the more powerful weapons to take on hordes. until then the game plays out like a survival horror games. After that, it's terminator vs hordes.

I like him, but that's plain stupid. Just look at the people around here, most of them have accomplished something in their life, it's like saying watching movies and series is a waste of time. You know what? I learned a lot from it as well, especially early Assassin's Creed when they were honest about the true assassin's story and other historical things when you read inside the game. Be too productive makes many of such mentalities neglect normal human reproduction, family harmony, and chasing fake happiness until you see lots of suicide from too much stress.
Fun and joy is critical, and it's not a waste of time if you're still pretty successful with your life.

I would like to add another example.
Say your struggling against a boss but you don't know if it's your character or just you. You create a demo to watch others play against the boss to obtain that answer.
I could see that used in Soulsbourne games alot. Heck if such a feature does exist im guessing that Demon Souls could be used to show it off.
