They want everything but don't have a clear strategy for anything.. thinking that game pass will save them is very naive.. they failed to build that brand recognition that do wonders for Sony and coming next gen I really can see them being really hard banged..

Right now is like ms is in a void.. hallo hype Is near to zero after that unbelievable show case..and is like they really don't have anything else to get them in the fight again to build enthusiasm.. the few exclusives they have are years away.. let's hope they have something in the sleeve to counter Sony..

Ngl, I'm worried too. Sony is coming in hot and MS doesn't seem to care about Hardware anymore. Sure they want more people buying Xbox, but they don't seem to care if they're selling on par with Sony.

This is kinda bad because slowly the Xbox platform will shrink and some devs/publishers won't see it as worth the investment. Players are the ones losing this way.

But will those things ever go away? No. I don't think calling Sony anti-consumer will help, we should push MS to fight back, lol. Maybe this way both of them will see they are wasting money on gimmicks from 3rd party games that aren't system sellers like some timed exclusives. They'd be better off funding experimental projects.

I have a feeling we won't be seeing a back button attachment for the DualSense, unless they make some type of 'Pro' controller, those metal plates next to the headphone back are probably only for the charging the controller, so you can just drop it on the charge base instead of having to deal with a port to align.

And it's a tit for tat of removing choice from consumers. None of this is improving any product.

I think that's their last generation as a console. Next gen probably they will be services only. Gamepass on pc,tv, smartphone and probably PS6. I don't like this scenarios with monopol for SONY.

Honestly it just seems like Microsoft sucks as a competitor if that happens. It's up to them to do better and not for Sony to fail.

They really need to learn from their mistakes.

I personally think lockhart is going to sell way better than the XsX.

And I want a disc version first of the 5 but will take whatever I can get my hands on.

Wouldn't be surprised if there are two options next gen - a thin client (for streaming games only) and a thick, discless client (which will power the cloud gaming servers) for those that want a local experience.

To be fair, a PlayStation-only future scares me. I don't want Sony to go all arrogant again. MS keeps them in check. I don't want that to change. Sure, we get a few chuckles out of the Craig memes, but a monopoly in console gaming won't be good for us, methinks. And no, I do not acknowledge Nintendo as a competitor since they've more or less live in their own pocket universe, an ethereal dimension where they can neither harm or be harmed by Sony.

Yeah Nvidia shield type of thing is smart TV won't be enough. I think PS6 is cemented already but really next gen xbox could be not happening, and maybe they even know that right now. Maybe gamepass Is really their holy grail which matter the most.

Of course monopol is bad. But PS5 will be probably great and xbox one wasn't true competition to PS4.

I mean it won't be the illegal type of monopoly so there's always a possibility that someone will compete with Sony in the future.

But Microsoft does have a ton of cash and they should use it to be alot more competitive.

I think what Phil said rings true. They are aiming for GaaS, and PS5 are going for the classical AAA games.

So, objectively speaking, MS are no longer competing with Sony, as Phil said. They are aiming to create their own market, which is different to the market Nintendo and Sony compete in. MS's GaaS competes with Amazon and other companies, whether hardcore gamer's accept that quality of games remains to be seen.

I believe Sony has already been complacent due to recent competitor showcase. Their recent SOP was supposed to be strong, but due to MS's GaaS focus, they seems to have cooled down as well. (This part is my opinion based on how things played out)

It's a DLC, I don't think they have finished those parts yet 😂, and it's free... So yea it is extended material we didn't have before... The game was announced without Spidey and even with the DLC announced we haven't seen any video proving that spiderman was already in the game.

I think Microsoft is fine as a competitor and will be fine, simply because they have a large fan base.

They just seem to excel at finding weird hills to die on, such as the TVTVSports of the Xbox One reveal, as well as the asinine restrictions they initially planned.

Now it's Gamepass and a coexisting ecosystem across consoles, which people seem more hungry to just move on and see the real power of next gen gaming.

Now, they usually respawn and right the battle before finding another hill that looks promising to make a stand on. I expect the same thing here.

Before anyone says anything, Im not saying that this is a good representation of both consoles. Im pretty sure Xbox Series X can do something much, much better than this and no doubt It has gpu/tf advantage, but on the other hand its Very silly to underestimate the Power of Ps5.

People make it sound as if Sony paid the devs to lock content out of the game. This might sound crazy but what if, just what if Sony paid to have spidey be developed exclusively? :lollipop_anxious_sweat:

Well I'm not sure Xbox will continue to exist if they are merely "fine." It's Microsoft.. if a product isn't showing tons of growth or growth potential they'll axe it. And I think they've sold their leadership on the idea that these services are going to cause huge growth (Gamepass and xCloud.) I am incredibly pessimistic on game streaming's future, at least it's near-term future.. that's part of my pessimism for Xbox.

At this point they are getting absolutely trounced by their competition. And those things tend to just get worse.. support for Xbox will cost them more money, as developers will prioritize the device that sells 2-3 times as much. I mean I highly doubt Sony is even having to pay much at all for these 3rd party deals even...devs are happy to associate themselves with something "exclusive to Playstation" because it associates their name/product with an immensely popular brand.

I would HOPE that MS would keep Xbox gong even if' it's another generation topping out at ~50 million sales.. but I just doubt they will.. and I have my doubts MS will even sell that many boxes.. and without those sales, I have my doubts they'll sell enough services to justify their existence.

I was going to buy the PS4 version anyway, but now i'm getting Spiderman too and for free? sounds like pro consumer to me

I would argue that it has enough power to do something a little better than this. We're not talking PS2 versus Xbox disparities here.

I guess im looking at this the old fashion way. I thought it was Microsoft's failings that stop them from competing with Sony. But I guess it's just because they are choosing not to compete with them.

I would prefer if they engaged in fierce competition with Sony but if they don't want that it's their brand so they can do what they want with it.

I just hope this stance if not competing with Sony isn't going to have any repercussions in the industry. That's the last thing that I want.

Is MS really aiming for "GAAS" that much?

Most of their games feel like.. classical AAA games.. with microtransations (which at this point, are what most AAA games have.)

Other than Sea of Thieves is anything they produce really GAAS?

People keep claiming Halo Infinite is going to be.. but MS said the game has more SP content than Halo 4 and 5 combined. I also don't think Obsidian is making a GAAS style game.. MS's studios have basically claimed that MS is letting them make whatever they want to make.. I doubt they all signed up for GAAS.

Well I really hope they don't do worse next gen than this gen. Imagine the catastrophe if they manage to sell less and having the cheapest console and the most powerful one?

They really need to focus on sales and after that their subscriptions will come with a larger install base.

As entertaining as it can get, I am glad to see less of the off the wall speculation this go around compared to the previous gens with hidden GPUs and that secret sauce Nintendo has yet to unlock in the Wii U.

In 2023, 20tf will be considered mid range. Nothing prevent PS5 pro from happening
