Maybe the devs / publisher want to be able to make a next gen game & didn't need much convincing
They're going to do that of their own accord. Capcom is with RE8. Same with EA for Battlefield, Dragon Age and Need For Speed

Have you started gaming on this gen? PS2 huge user base didn't prevent games to take advantage of PS3/360 capabilities, and you can go back even more.![]()
Technically PlayStation 5 will be in the next generation alone without a peer like the Switch is now & I don't know how to feel about this.
Switch is pretty much alone in this generation & it's a runaway success but lately it seem like 3rd parties only want to port games over to it instead of making Switch games. PS5 will most likely meet the same fate unless it light a fire inside of devs & make them not even want to turn back to...www.neogaf.com

And think big!!
I don't get it either. I think people are just salty as they want more next-gen info. Till they get their fill of that...'everything sucks!'What's with these dumbass takes
Even Microsoft is putting in more effort than Nintendo right now
It is not time to show it when first you didn't show a deep look of a game representative of next gen prior to it and you don't show it at the same show were games on your older console are better looking. Also sony did not market it as cross gen, they presented it as next gen.
This confuses those gamers who are not Era/ Gaf/N4g. Those people don't understand SSD, 10 segaflops and likely never seen UE5 demo. They will think PS5 is something like the Switch.
Could be they thought they needed the I/O for their game. And a developer like that would be easy for Sony to convince to make to their game exclusive.
I'm not saying the game wouldn't be possible on other systems but Sony does need someone to say that kind of thing.
Thinking back, my money would be on Capcom and Konami properties, with *maybe* Ubisoft stuff. EA doesn't seem to like Sony much.
Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Street Fighter, Metal Gear, even Castlevania.
All of those series' were at one point synonymous with PlayStation by and large for a time...possibly a timed exclusive return to that point.
Why is it the fud that was spread about PS5 are actual XSX problems. Those guys were projecting??
I was told 52 cu's And all that power. I was told XSX will have the ray tracing advantage. Yet RT is getting removed out of a walking sim game that has showed no dynamic actions,no fighting, no action rolls,no jumping. straight walking.
Whats going on here.?? No captured on XSX footage to date. Patching in RT, Removing RT. The XSX is looking spooky.
Xbox has no RT games at launch?? They told me all the power, Better RT, 52 CU's. Where is the RT in XSX??

Fanboyismwhat the context behind mr alex battaglia's post?
In the US, Sony could quickly find themselves with anti-trust issues if they money-hat too many games at once. When a market leader is actively paying devs to cripple a competitor that will bring issues along with it. Similar to Intel offering deals only to OEMs that did not purchase AMD chips.
And yet Gears 5 is fine to use as a measurement of PC to XSX? What an absolute melty snowflake!
No way. People were saying this about Microsoft in the 360 era when they did a LOT of this. Neither company is a monopoly and timed exclusivity is just that. Timed. Won't happen. If it were going to happen anywhere, it would probably be in the EU anyway. Nobody here in the US is going to spend ANY energy looking into any issue about VIDEO GAMES this year. It's still 2020. WAY more important issues going on.
Alan Wake 2?, That Splinter Cell that definitely isn't in development!"Think Big"
"Huge"
Rumor - Sony paying for many AAA timed exclusives (Previously associated with Xbox)
Titan Fall 2 for sure
Doesn't matter if your old head now has a better position you still have a budget and schedule to deliver the project.I don't think Guerrilla sat on a tight budget for this project as Hulst is the head of WWS himself... Let that sink in. But, again, this is a PS4 game that was meant to run only on PS4 and PS4 Pro. I seriously doubt that back in development in 2014~2016 they were thinking "Hm, yeah, we are definitely porting this Sony 1st party game to PC because we want to please Alex from DF", and this has NOTHING to do with them having Decima running on PC. They develop games on PC, but again, their target is the devkit and not a fucking workstation.
They already talked about the animations being locked at 30fps, etc. This is the kind of things you can do when you have a fixed hardware, you are allowed to have things fixed and even make use of some custom hardware inside the console. FFS. It's a PS4 game that was never supposed to run on PC, give them a break. They won't rebuild an entire game for PCMR, they are a Sony studio.
Huh.. just saw someone link this on Retittyta..
So the PS5 presentation WASNT actually all real time rendered?
You do realize that Kena trailer had the small cut scenes in it right? This isn't breaking news lol

Oh for sure the gameplay looked great. There was gameplay in that trailer though and nobody said it looked bad.
So even with those pre-rendered cutscenes we still saw live gameplay on the PS5. Which is the part that matters IMO.
Yes I'm aware Kena had cut scenes, considering I just posted a tweet about.. Kena's cut scenes.
The PS5 showcase was full of non-gameplay, and everyone has been acting like/claiming it was all real time rendered.
I'm curious if those cut scenes were pre-rendered, what else was in that showcase?
My point is: we have no clue how much of the PS5 show that wasn't gameplay, was real time rendered. Not getting your point here
When you play Kena on PS5 the cinematics are pre-rendered
What if COD next gen version is one of the timed exclusives???Seriously.. where was COD? Is it skipping a year? It's never been this late. Maybe they are just doing their own event, with a full blowout?

Seems pretty straightforward.

Because pre-rendered cutscenes are just video files that don't represent what the hardware they are running on can do.Everything was running on a PS5
Now sure why it matters.
Oh for sure the gameplay looked great.
But it calls into question all the other non-gameplay that I've been assuming was real time.

BasedNo one gives a shit about indies. No one. People like to pretend they do to appear enlightened and elite but they don't.
No one watches these shows to get a glimpse of fucking bugsnax.
Yeah but you can get a pretty good idea from them what gameplay will look like if you can see what the real-time cutscenes are capable of.Neither do real-time cinematics tbh

Pre-rendered cutscenes are about as useful as watching a Pixar movie on your PS5 lol
Problem is how much time they dedicated to indies compared to bigger titles so far, look how long The Pathless, Spelunky 2 and Bugsnax sections were on today's SoP. Show me more of the big titles, that's what will make me excited about next gen not indies.I don't know. I think people get that not every game on a system is going to be a high end visual powerhouse game. To have every game shown be that way leading to launch Just doesn't sound possible. It. Plus That in fact could be a way of telling a developer that you don't support them and their content on your system.
People know there are all sorts of games and visual styles out there.

Yes pre-rendered scenes would be rendered to a video file format vs. an in-engine real time cutscene that literally runs via the engine in real time without ever rendering to video. Are they video files? It states they're pre-rendered from the game engine. That to me means they're still the same graphics and not specialised outside of the game.
So just scenes which you can't control.

Ghostwire: Tokyo and Deathloop are timed exclusives I think. It's gotta be Silent Hill/Metal Gear/Final Fantasy.
Anything from Bethesda/Rockstar/EA/Ubisoft would be extremely expensive.
Simply put, the industry has grown really small lately. There's not a whole lot to choose from.
MasterCornholio : Just being a little hyperbolic lol
No it's not the same, at least usually it isnt. The entire point of it normally is to render something not feasible on the hardware you are playing it back on.But it does state it's in-engine. It's the same thing at the end of the day no matter how it's delivered right?
I know this SoP wasn't intended mainly for next gen, my rant was about the bigger Sony info disclosure picture. Looks like so far we have more indie gameplay than bigger titles'.Yeah, I'd agree, but I think this SoP wasn't billed as intended to be about getting people excited for next gen. That's what I took from their Tweets before going in. I Didn't expect anything much at all and that's what I got. A largely forgettable show because I don't care about Indies or Bugsnax or ... etc.
