Yes, one SoC of the Series X can be running 4 Xbox one S sessions in parallel on the cloud servers. Of course you will have to add some more RAM
Please note that on Xbox One every game runs in a virtual maschine, which makes it easier to run several Xbox One S session on one single processor.

Been thinking recently how blessed this forum section is, with our beloved Mod of War Mod of War . We could have cheapened out and got EviLore EviLore or even worse hit rock bottom with Bill O'Rights Bill O'Rights .

But luckily for us, we got the Numero uno, the pie in sky.

but after all, is said and done he is our little Gem. our little princess, our Magic pony.

He wouldn't. There's no way in hell that Cerny would downplay the importance of CUs and TFs if they were one more bullet point that the PS5 could one-up the XSX with. So I think it's safe to say that on the CU/TF subject, he was damage controlling.

Don't get me wrong, I think the PS5 will blow the XSX out of the water, but him handwaving TFs and CUs as a true measure of power was damage control.

And I don't care if he's an engineer and not a PR person. He was basically 'selling / pitching' the PS5 to developers with that speech and it makes sense to speak highly of and praise the things that the PS5 surpasses the XSX (SSD and sound), while downplaying the things the PS5 was worse than the XSX (TF and CU count).

If you don't think there's a pattern here, I don't know what to tell you.

Cerny believes in his product, and I do so as well, but he needs to present the PS5 to people who are not persuaded as well as us. It is THOSE people, people who think that CU and TF count is everything that Cerny needs to convince them that 'hey, you know what? CU and TF count ISN'T everything' after all.

There's no question that a little PR was included in Sony's talk. That doesn't even subtract from the larger points that Cerny was making.

Both companies know that most of their consumers don't fully understand the tech. That's why they address issues they think could be problematic. In Sony's case having the same CU count as previous gen (because they know many don't know how clock plays into things) and having less than the competition. MS did the same type of thing in their presentation, mentioning things that on the surface seem unnecessary (locked clocks, only one fan, etc.), but were very intentional.

The thing about the Assassin's Creed CE is while it is true we've seen a far greater adoption to digital year over year, particularly this year with the pandemic, I don't know the market is completely ready for it.

It is enough for both consoles to have a digital option, but not to go entirely digital, which is why I question that decision.

Broadband is still not as widespread as it needs to be, an issue that has seen itself exacerbated with the advent of online schooling.

I *believe* under the CARES Act I read recently, many companies such as Spectrum received(I think) a loan based on the contingent they expand their capabilities into underserviced areas, but they must have progress and plans done by the end of the year or they lose that money granted.


Also, many people(myself included) still enjoy our physical media. As many of us I'm sure can attest, there is nothing quite like the crinkling of a wrapper and the scent of a newly opened game to us gamers.

I think we are talking about two different things. I'm talking about digital only and buying digital games from Xbox and PS store. Different than steam because of policies for refunds and returns etc.
 
This may be nothing, but this morning my friends who work in retail said that MS are no longer shipping Xbox One S units out (Despite MS saying that only One X and ADE were discontinued).

It could be Covid-19-related shortages, or...... it could be making way for something else.......

Sure, custom I/O solution is one thing, but customization doesn't determine price. MS went with bigger and faster, but less lanes and of course, more NAND modules, Sony went with more lanes, but slower ones and less NAND modules. Sony use 12 slow nand chips across 12 chanells/lanes to have higher speed. I think MS used standard nand chips which are faster which cost more i think. Can't remember how many channels XSX SSD has. Maybe 4?

It's a brilliant plan. Instead of selling one XSX and one GP sub, they can use the same SKU to get 4 subs running at the same time. 400% profit increase!

Aye. It was mentioned quite a long while back to AMD and Sony had worked together on the tech for the PS5, which was then going to go into AMD's future GPUs.

Not sure, Sony have basically removed all bottlenecks that the SSD might have. Watch NX gamer (I prefer his style) or someone like DF, the way I see it is MS don't have anything faster than Sonys SSD tech. It's custom and PCs will need around 7GBPs to brute force the difference that the custom design gives the PS5, hence why mark cerny said Sony will have to approve any SSD that can be used in the PS5.

It is even better:
Microsoft can do 4 Project XCLoud sessions in XBox One S quality per SeriesX chip, and I saw a video in which they put 4 motherboards in one single 19" case (standard size for servers). That mean one of these cases can serve 16 people in parallel, and there are several of these cases in one rack.
And we talk about Project XCloud, that means Game Pass Ultimate at least

It would be interesting if Sony has something similar for PS-Now to keep their solution competitive. A few days ago someone posted here a PDF from a 2019 Sony investor talk in which they said they want to improve quality...
