Just upgrade equipment or get an adapter.

Optical doesnt do anything better than HDMI+av-receiver wouldnt, too bad that some old/cheaply build gamer headsets use it.

Sony and Microsoft know nobody use optical. Thats why they are both removing it. They have heat mapping of how people use the console and probably have data showing 95% or more don't use it.

Its like when Lamborghini got asked why they got rid of manual transmissions. They said because no one bought them.

Yeah I truly think it's because they don't want to follow bad news immediately with your biggest reveal (another console and price). It won't land as well. So they chose to let some time go over it. With the hope that if they have a real killer event in September, that they can change the perception a bit.

For me personally, I can wait on the price until 1 week before launch.

They have Elden Ring's marketing deal. It's funny, though, they also have Cyberpunk's and we have yet to see this game running on XSX.

Elden Ring is generations away.

They showed up here on gaf in this very thread within five minutes of monkeypunch first revealing the discord back in december of last year. I didnt even know colbert or shepshal had an account here but they both showed up to deny it immediately. proelite used to be the only one who posted here semi-regularly but he showed up immediately as well. these idiots indirectly confirmed the existence of a discord by denying it.

I genuinely appreciate the answer and the trouble you went to to gather up that info. It's interesting to fill in the gaps.

Is that all it is though? A group of people in a discord group, some of whom were a bit naughty on Era? It's hardly al-qaeda is it? I mean, that kind of group reporting can happen, and probably has happened, here.

I've seen the DF guy getting hounded for being part of that discord, even though none of his responses, at least those that I've read, seem overly problematic to me.

He's laughed at some of the more extreme fans, sure, I imagine that he's had to put up with a lot though, much of it coming from a particular group of 'you know who' fans, it's probably good for his soul to let off a little steam from time to time.

There seems to be some 'guilt by association' involved.

I use this place alongside a lot of other people. Some of those people post nonsense and are utterly fact-resistant. I'm sure you've had to deal with it to.

The thing is, people from outside this forum probably lump us all together in the exact same way that Sony fans have decided that anyone in that discord group is part of some sweeping conspiracy.

It seems to me, if your examples are typical, that a small number of people have overreacted to the discord group and then made loud and confident assertions that evil was afoot. It seems those assertions have been taken at face value by nearly everyone else (me included).

There really doesn't seem to be a lot to it though, just more fanboy turfwars. :)

Microsoft is participating in the biggest Japan gaming show but not Sony and people still believe that Sony cares about Japan so much to release the PS5 a week early there. Yeah no.

To be fair, he had to deal with the massive efforts of Bo Hazem et al. constantly trying to derail his point by making utterly false claims about the timings in the clip being altered.

When people refuse the address the point, and even create a fiction to discredit it, you haven't got much choice other than to keep f'ing making it and hope you get through to the sane ones.

So you're trying to say that astro playground disproves the fast load speeds of the ps5's ssd?

Awesome! Now post a pic of Downwell running on a ps4 pro and say this proves that the ps4 is incapable of the graphical fidelity shown on the last of us 2!

Astro playground CANNOT disprove the load times of the ps5 because Ratchet Rift Apart PROVES them!

Why do you fail to comprehend this?

How do you even know that the game is loading during the whole dimensional transition?
Maybe they want to use it for artistic reasons? For me as a gamer I think it's fine to prepare for a new world with a short transition and not just get thrown into a new dimension as soon as possible.

I don't know if it has been stated that the game will be a tech demo for the SSD. Maybe it's a demo mainly for the controller?
And what hardware was it running on? I never saw a PS5 in the showing.
What kind of benefits do you get when people answer your posts?

You can run good playstation emulators on your phone these days, no excuse not to demand better from Sony it should be a free patch. I would love to play all the classic's like destruction derby the old drivers.

So take out your mobile phone, go stopwatch mode, and time them yourself





Now, next time you or somebody else like you quotes me for this thing, he better have used his mobile to time.

Personally, as a Playstation fan, I find Sony's way of handling its legacy a bit unbalanced between soft and hard...

They strongly rely on IP (and the controller) to tell the whole PS story, but although certain games hold it together (e.g. Gran Turismo), I'm not entirely sure that's sustainable enough to fuel the brand in the long run.

I also think we already damaged some of the PS DNA when we lost Ridge Racer, SOCOM, Twisted Metal and others.

Beyond BC, I am wishing for software emulation and AI—powered upscaling of the entire Playstation catalog.

I still remember the fun of playing an upscaled PS2 Hokuto no Ken on my PS3 fat.

You got insomniac doing paid advertising on mass media outlets boasting how they were lucky to be in the forefront of this SSD revelation, and how they are "able to load entire worlds in one second" (sic)
yet you think that they purposely slow down their loading time on the same game they are tooting, for ...artistic reasons?
