While that sounds like a joke, it could be partly true. ( the part about most xbox gamers are US folks)
On US xbox vs playstation war is kind of balanced, which shows up on forums/internet when US xbox gamers talk about next gen and they are clueless how brutally more popular playstation is outside of US, like it is not even a competition between them. So in their perspective anything minor can turn the scale and make xbox "winner", while from outside perspective it is just illogical as playstation would have to do _everything_ wrong and they would still have a chance to "win".
That alone have given me the image of typical xbox fan being kind of aggressive and not too informed about global situation, when looking all these threads I rarely have seen PS-fanboys being so stubborn/angry/mean to others or bashing other products so aggressively.
And we all (at least outsiders) know how different US culture is vs. hundreds of other cultures, mainly their patriotism, violence, gun culture, lack of caring about poor people (there are no homeless people in many countries as everyone gets an apartment rent paid if they want to).
But difficult to say how xbox gamers are outside of US, as I dont know anyone whom is "xbox gamer", that is how popular that brand is here.
Most aggressive gamers I know are NHL / FIFA gamers + COD etc shooters. Those idiots scream in the middle of the night when they lose, throw their controllers into a wall, rape their controller in rage instead of using it normally (gently but precise).
Maybe they should study them.
But if this study is made from US xbox vs US playstation gamers, then it is more interesting thing as cultural variables are removed from the equation

Yeah, when I read the CX has a lower bandwidth I was even happier with my C9 purchase, but if the PS5 follows the SeriesX route then it doesn't matter.

Microsoft is not some giant monolithic company that just sloshes money around willy nilly between its departments. Each department must remain successful, because if they aren't, the shareholders will have something to say about it.
XBox isn't safe just because lots of people buy PC software. If XBox isn't profitable, the shareholders will not be happy. Goodbye XBox.
If you genuinely think major corporations don't dissolve unsuccessful departments or satellite operations, then you have no idea how the business world functions.
TL dR: Microsoft being successful doesn't mean XBox is always going to be safe. If it isn't a success, it goes.

AMD might have wanted all RDNA2 prices to remain unknown to put pressure on Nvidia.
If the consoles announced low prices in June, that would have indicated how low/high AMD was going to price their RX 6000 GPUs.

It was an entirely pointless exercise in shitting up the last couple of days of this thread. Arguing about nothing, proving nothing.
The only thing that is clear is that the whole transition, end to end, is sub-2 seconds, which is pretty fucking awesome. It's fairly academic how much of that 2 seconds is the load, and it really doesn't matter if people call it a "loading screen", call it an animation or call it Craig.

What annoys me is Microsoft know damn well the absolute bottom line Sony could possibly do is $399 for the disc version with a decent loss. So why not go first at that price seeing as they are already prepared for it? All Sony can do then is match it and Microsoft get the satisfaction of having the balls to go first.

I think somewhere it's about loses. I really don't know how profitable Microsoft is with there gaming division. Is game pass making a loss, is it making them money? Is it making as much as they want it to make.
They have had some big loses of late, mixer comes to mind. How much did they have to pay those streamers of etc.
Microsoft might have billions but shareholders hate to see losses. Their console might cost a lot more to make than sony's i don't know. If they are already losing the console war, that they are not apparently in, it's not a good look bleeding out money too, in a war you can not win.

Yup. XBox division simply cannot just bung out the Series X at a big loss per console - not like Sony did with the Ps3. The XBox One was, by all relevant metrics, a failure. They don't have the finances or the standing within the larger Microsoft family to lose a ton of cash on this console as well.
That's why they haven't released a price for it yet. They know it's going to be expensive, but my guess is they're hoping the Ps5 will be equally, or more expensive. Not so sure they're right about that.
It's pretty damned obvious BOTH consoles are going to be bloody pricey though. If the Ps5 was 399 again, they'd be singing it from the rooftops by now, as would XBox. I think Sony are waiting for an event when they can announce new games to soften the blow a bit. I have no idea whether XBox has the same intention, or whether they're just terrified of the market response to an expensive console with no exclusive games anyone wants to play.
