Agreed. A valid complaint is why haven't we seen the PS5 in person or running yet? Whats the UI, the experience of using it? Price is fun to speculate on and matters, but there are not a huge range of possible launch prices.
I just wanna see the back of the console Sony.

I'm honestly not sure and Phil, if you believe him, said a long time ago they had a price in mind and thought they would hit that and also they won't be out of position on price.
I really do think Nvidia's Ampere pricing vs specs was a big shock. Comparing the GTX780 specs relative to the consoles from 2013 and now today's 3080 vs XSX/PS5 and the gap is huge but the 3080 is only $50 higher than the launch GTX780 and $100 lower than the FE 2080. Dare I suggest these new consoles are relatively weak spec wise?
Don't get me wrong I still think they're both great just not worthy of some of the hype IMO.
I don't think it is the price itself for us so much. Just more pissed at the silly game being drawn out for so long . We know the bottom line is $399 and the top end $499 for XSX/PS5. Clearly both are prepared to do the former if they have to but would rather do the latter.
Few months? More like 8 weeks for XSX!

Man, this is really something with Sony and Microsoft. There's people, especially Parents who don't even know next gen consoles are coming yet. Very weird marketing.
I figure these companies by now would be actively pushing these Consoles with pricing in terms of advertisements already. Some of us in the know at least are already prepared for it, but what about others who need to know what to buy these as potential gifts for the holiday season?

They are still on time for Christmas honestly. It's way more challenging this year but I don't think it's that bad, we are all just very impatient. Nintendo Switch launch went great and a company like Apple is presenting product very late too.

I doubt there will be 2 more USB ports on the back.
Probably just a proprietary camera port and maybe 1 more USB-A.
I also want to see how that M.2 SSD expansion bay works.

Not worth comparing the price of the GTX 3080 which is the whole price (maybe a tad higher?) of a next-gen console - definitely different demographic here. So yes, for the price of admission, you stomp the next generation consoles, but this is not the point here anyway.
Oh, and Phil? Phil has said a lot of things, I wouldn't trust him to help a granny cross the damned street at this point in time.
But I agree, both companies should stop this stupid dancing around pricing and launch dates, unless there is something horribly wrong here.

The DualSense charging stand doesn't connect to the console. Sony says on their website its designed to free up usb ports on the PS5. So it will just plug into a wall outlet or power adapter directly.
I also doubt the PS5 camera will use USB. It will probably be a proprietary connector to limit what we can connect it to.

We saw the PS4 UI in June 2013. I think Sony should show a PS5 UI demo.
By "in person" I just mean real life pictures, not just staged professional shots and renders. Like how we have seen the DualSense being used by Geoff, I would like to see someone, anyone, show off the PS5 somehow.

I'm sure Covid and economical effects are a factor in all of this. Hell, at my job if you have even a sniffle and a boss notices, you're automatically kicked out for 14 days(with some pay at least) and they shut your area down for a day or two.
Can't imagine what its like in a production facility for PS5.
Its probably still just predominantly a game of chicken, though.

I explained this a dozen times too, only to get the most unbelievable silly and aggressive responses ever, that also signaled a "mob reset" to continue on misinformation and attack.
I think that with ratchet being the "main weapon" for ps5 showcase at this moment, this makes the console defense forces very very touchy on real subjects, so therefore cannot even be discussed.
I also was attacked many times for temporal injection, while we know that insomniac's last games *ratchet ps4 and spiderman included* RELY HEAVILY on this method, and was even confirmed by insomniac for ratchet ps5.
I guess for some "people" 6 seconds equal to "0.8", blurry image equals to "crystal clear" and static cubes equal to "ray tracing" !
Its just a pity that these people forbid any meaningful discussion to be made.

On the flip side I disagree with the overall assessmentTheGreatWhiteShark is trying to make - I'm not even clear what their point is to be fair. When the transition actually starts loading in the new world, when it's done, what is added for transitional effect is simply not clear enough to be making any sort of definitive judgement on the performance of the underlying architecture. The whole thing seems to have been a massively pointless argument about stuff we have no where near the full information to analyse.

I dont think that consoles will aim for 12bit 4k 120fps.

I was more comparing the relative specs. So for example RAM. PS4 had 8GB of 6GHz (run at 5.5) GDDR5 vs 3GB 6GHz GDDR5 in the 780. PS5/XSX have 16GB of 14Gbps GDDR6 vs 10GB of 19Gbps GDDR6X in 3080.
As for Phil I think he is alright but the big problem he has is delivering on promises he makes. Maybe some are out of his hands but still he should make sure he can deliver.

GWS made an observation about the actual load time in that clip and showed video to back up his case. The loading is still impressive, it doesn't have to be instantaneous to remain a big step forward. He didn't say it was shit, just that it may not be the instantaneous transition claimed by the super fans.
There's no 'FUD' in such a statement, it's just injecting some reality back into the conversation. However the foot soldiers see any comment that isn't 100% honey dripping praise of the PS5 as a foul insult. Then the unnecessary defence and accusations begin 'the timing is deliberately misleading', 'the frame rate is wrong', etc, etc, etc. Even in the face of clear evidence, the baseless claims continue and the tone becomes more hysterical.
And at the end of it you decide that Thegreatwhiteshark is the problem. Yeah, sure.

Honestly, It's not like I'll be upset about the price and go to PC(don't care about PC gaming), I already made my decision to stay with PS. What I really want to see is the launch window lineup gameplay and dates, UI and features.

For example Sony has 2 versions, one with disc and one without. It is extremely difficult to guess, how much of demand for each of these versions exist and Sony probably does not want to have one version collecting dust in the shelf while the other one is in high demand and they could sell tons more of it.
The relation between both versions will differ between countries, probably even within a country. It depends on the PSN pricing compared to local stores, the available internet (so it also might change when better internet is available in a region), mind set of the customers (need to have something in your hand vs digital), look (some say the digital version looks better), disposable income and a ton of other reasons...
Shops needs to know the price to estimate the demand (there will be less PS5 sold for $1000 then for $399).
Take into account that millions of boxes are already made and Sony has to transport them to storage facilities around the world, and thats all while Corona makes even simple things difficult.
Yes, I think the price will come soon... In the end the possible realistic price range is quite limited ($399 to $499 for the disc PS5, more is suicide, less is too high loss), so one of the companies simply has to be the first to make a decision and tell everyone...

I'm just suggesting they preempt them instead and go $399 and give Sony the middle finger and say suck on it losers! The least they can do is entertain us!

Regarding R&C: Rift Apart. Why is everyone judging the technical capabilities of a console based on a game that comes out shortly after the console launches? Developers are just starting to make games for the next generation, they need to figure things out, don't you think it's not entirely fair to demand something never before seen from them right now?

PS camera will likely use adaptor to the new PS5 camera port. No need for usb.
This can't be said enough the price delay just helps scalpers and screws over loyal customers. If you get unlucky and miss the original pre order allotment that will be about 5 minutes your fucked now. You have one shot and that is fucked up by Sony. Microsoft should have supply with lesser demand. I miss Andrew house so much he and his guys cared about players not their ego's.

I would like to see a similar video for PS5. Its exciting to see how it will run and work. When Sony shows me this type pf video for the PS5, I will get very excited.
If the console is launching in ~7 weeks from now, its odd we haven't see any of this demo'd yet.

This is because of bottlenecks + latency. No software APIs (even with fancy name) will be able to close the gap with PS5. And with the compression improving (like oodle compression and such that have not yet being used on any PS5 demos), the gap will widen because the hardware and software legacy bottlenecks on XSX will always be there.

The problem is that one particular side try to push "loading" of Ratchet for several days already when there is no proof in the first place that it IS loading and the used method of measure have validity at all.
The whole pitch that omg, ps5 is not so fast, loading maybe not 0.8 but 2 seconds based on yadayada our pure speculations where loading starts and where it ends became really tedious and stretched.
At current point it is already a discussion just for the sake of pushing "Sony lies" as no one except people from certain side are not interested in continue this discussion.
