If one of the most recognisable brands in the world, does not celebrate the 25 year anniversary of launching in the biggest market in the world, by launching its latest and greatest PS5, then I'll go he.
I mean, nothing's stopping them from wrapping up a quick video for the 25th, showing all gens, and then showing us the same HZD2 and Ratchet & Clank snippets we've already seen, slap in ''Late 2020'' and then go straight back to bed 😆

I'm starting to get nervous. If Sony doesn't announce a PS5 event for next week very soon that means they'll keep waiting for Xbox and Xbox next event is on the Tokyo Games Show september 24th, where they have already warned there will be no next gen news.

That'll put us in october territory and a month before launch is way too late for the PS5 to be properly presented and marketed.

I think Microsoft at this point is more than willing to delay next gen, regardless of them mantaining the Series X will launch in november. If Sony keeps waiting for Xbox to say the price tag first it could mean they are also willing to delay the PS5 ant THAT WOULD SUCK.

I don't think delay is happening. It'll just be a very short announcement to release window and that's fine because they'll not be able to meet demand anyway because demand is already sky high that a long advertisement period is not needed. Talking PS5 here.

Xbox Series X is another story entirely and they should consider a delay unless they change their game big time next event.

IF. Demand is very high and quantity is limited. Not everyone will secure a pre-order or get a console at launch. Sorry for being negative. It's a bad habit.
its crazy but I think it is still gonna sell out at $600 even if sony doesnt show anything at all beside price/date for the next 2 months.
thats how much brand power a playstation has.

See in a way this is a blessing in disguise. I mean, we all fucking hate being teased in 2015 for something that comes out in 2020, so the waiting period should be very small and that's sweet

But I guess most of us would've loved some entrées before the big meal
Now it's like ''you sit down here and this appears in an instant in your face''

They have quite literally nothing to worry about.

The whole waiting for the launch date is tiresome. Not bothered about price as I can afford, but I appreciate people want to know so they can save and plan ahead.

It is a good sign that Sony are doing the bite sized PS5 adverts - could mean we wil get concrete details soon.
At this point it will screw over lots over lots of loyal customers and make scalpers rich. There will be 1 chance to get a system now. Sony should be getting shit for helping scalpers. Every day with out pre orders is a day more scalpers will be joining the pre order queues to get rich. This is going to blow up in everyone's faces when lots of loyal customers are fucked over by the last second pre orders.

Yes but with the COVID situation, they are aiming for the shortest period possible because things are changing rapidly.

That's why we're all so thrilled that Ride 4 is coming to PS5 on January 21, 2021.

So PS5 is still set for 2020.

Gas and brake levers will have their own resistance to transmit the same sensations as their real-life counterparts.

That's pretty cool and it's a good use of the triggers.

We will now be able to deliver a smoother gameplay experience at 60FPS with a resolution up to 4K.

Nice to see it at 60FPs but hopefully the resolution doesn't drop too low.

I'm not sure what kind of "short announcement to release window" are you thinking about but it would be already short if they announced an event for today. Giving price and date (and that's not all the relevant info lacking about PS5) in october or november is not a short window but a window in the realm of shadow dropping.

It's ok to think about demand and supply for launch but I guess Sony wants to sell at least 10 million PS5's the first year (according to production plans) and you'll never get as much attention for your product than just before launch. People is already exhausted of waiting for info about the PS5 and those kinds of things kill the hype. Holding yourself back to compete against the Seriex X, which is a console already with very little hype going on, is a mistake. It's setting yourself for failure because of low standards and excessive caution.

All this talk going on in gaming circles about next gen being underwhelming and the need to delay it is a product of Sony allowing Microsoft to drag them to this game of chicken that's affecting the general perception of both brands. And it all stops if you take the initiative and show what you have, no holds barred.

I agree. I was talking about this:

https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020...unch-prices-and-dates-for-2020s-new-consoles/

And you are correct even if announced today it'll be short but we are not in normal circumstances.

While I agree with the reasoning, it's not their biggest market when it comes to hardware sales.

That is why Andrew House was so much better. His attitude was this is the ps4 it is kick ass go buy it. He started showing it in February. Pricing and pre orders in June because of his attitude towards the device he could give a shit less what anyone else was doing. Now it is shadow games and secret squirrel against a incompetent opponent.

👆

100% this.

I'm a lot more focused on how many units will be available and if they will be released at the same time across all regions. It's complete bullshit if a region has to wait 2 weeks or a month more, especially when you can go on youtube or twitch and see everyone else having fun except for you.

Price is whatever, if someone can't afford (worse case scenario) $600 for a console, then maybe getting dibs on hardware is not for that person.

House did a great job with PS4. But we wouldn't have been able to say that yet in Sept 2013. Too early to judge on Ryan and PS5.

As far as I know, they've sold more units in Europe. But you may be talking about the ecosystem as a whole, that I wouldn't dispute.
There's a reason they launched PS4 first in US. And why they've started PS5 pre-order registering only in the US (so far). They know the US is the key market. Especially to kill Xbox (also biggest in US).

He might not be in the Premier League but the Nemar roll would like to have a word with you.
Lol I didn't say dives farther or with more flair. Neymar is the Messi of divers for sure.

But Harry Kane is 6"2 and like 200 pounds. He has perfected the run into the box and fall. PK.

There is only one other person in the premiership that i recall falling down so easy for a big guy and that was Emanuel Heskey, one-touch and he was always on the floor.

So Pringles raffle giving away Xbox Series X might have just revealed its price! Apparently in South Africa you have to give away the tax inclusive price of item so that winners know the amount tax and pay their taxes on top of it, and deducting tax should give us the recommended price of XSX.

Can someone tell what are the game consoles taxed at in % in South Africa?

You are using "literally" wrong here and they have absolutely many things to worry about starting with keeping up with demand and supply chain.

But I think the reasoning behind that is much more akin to the fact that they know US is a market where, at any given time, Xbox can eat a bigger chunk of the pie, so they have to be on their toes. But still if you look at both hardware and software sales, historically PS has had bigger sales on Europe.

https://www.vgchartz.com/analysis/platform_totals/Software/Global/

I know vgchartz aren't 100% reliable, but even if you factor in a considerable amount of a margin of error, it shows that Europe is the primary PS market. Of course, that doesn't mean that US is not key for them, specially because of the reason I mentioned before, but I guess my view of this is that PS, and thus, Sony, is not an american company and neither has the US market been its top seller historically, so I have my reservations as for the 25th anniversary there to be an almost mandatory cause for an event to happen necessarily on the 9th.

Not saying it won't happen, just that because of that, I'm not 100% sold on that date as of now.

Edit: I would absolutely love to be wrong and having them announce the event today, though.

It's Emile. Was never Emanuel. And that was post Leicester City/Liverpool era Emile. He was an absolute bulldozer at 18/19.
Didier Drogba fell about a bit too for someone also quite tanky.

Thats over $800 USD, could be BS. Or could be $600 + tax + exchange rate differences.

So I found a PS4 slim online in SA for a little over $400. In their currency 6999. So perhaps over there they pay the equivalent of $400 for PS4 slim, instead of $300 in the US, or they have high taxes. Idk.

Could actually mean the XSX is $599.

US is their biggest market.

Untrue. Europe as a whole produces way more revenue than North America in gaming spending and Playstation dominates the european market way more than the US market. If you're talking about countries, then yes. If you're talking about market regions, then no.

Yes and no. The PS4 announced its price after the Xbox One (because of E3 conferences order) and the final marketing push of the PS4 was basically "it's not the Xbox One".

The thing i remember most about Drogba, he was actually brilliant, all i remember about EMILE was he was a lumbering GNU.

MS would prefer bringing Craig Halo back as a launch game than letting Sony have such advantage.

Yeah seeing over $812 USD when I converted surprised me, my exact thinking it is $600 + tax + exchange diff.

That thin also says it has tax incl. price since GST is tax (VAT) in South Africa, and those values are given by MS itself so that they could legally announce the raffle amount.

The hell you're talking about? Scalpers will be there, it doesn't matter if it's now or a day before launch.

The thing i remember most about Drogba, he was actually brilliant, all i remember about EMILE was he was a lumbering GNO.
That's the painful part of Heskey. He had all the tools to be the proto Drogba. Big, powerful, strong, fast and had a rocket of of a shot. All the tools needed to be utterly dominant. Watch some of his early Leicester days. There's a reason as a kid I was hyped when he was knocking on the door for England. But then he went to Liverpool and that's when they fucked him. They made him second fiddle to Michael "I've only got good hamstrings for 5 years" Owen, when they could have had Drogba before Drogba was a thing.
But it was Liverpool of 20 years ago... They fucked up a lot of people not called Gerrard.

Edit: The saddest part about Heskey is that KSI made his name from using Heskey as a meme..... Fuck KSI!

Anyone know what the launch prices for current gen consoles were in South Africa?

An Xbox One S is 7000 there. so almost double. Could mean its $500, or $550. Maybe not $600. Hard to say.
