There's not a doubt in my mind that the only thing Sony is changing up for their announcement next week is that preorders go live on Sept. 21.

I'm in the boat where the XSX simply won't fit in my setup if I want to take advantage of direct HDMI 2.1 connection to my Sony X900H, which is a requirement for my next gaming system. I need to mount my next console behind my TV with only ~4+ inches of clearance. A PS5 will fit. Seems an XSS will fit, but I would never buy the XSS. I can also get a custom PC build in a Sliger case using a 2 slot 3080 in there.

So really, the XSX form factor alone kills it for me regardless of any other decision criteria.

This year is brilliant for PS. This is the first time PS can release a console without Xbox riding the buzz of game news bundled together like an E3 event. When there's an E3 event everything gets put together. All faults & flaws ignored. Because of the event hype. Loads of paid of media. If there was an E3 Xbox would of got away with no gameplay footage ,having no 1st party games. etc.

These standalone shows.Expose the products. Its working great for PS brand.This week is COD ,Ubisoft event back to back. PS did the right thing standing back.They want a clear week for themselves. I can see them drop a show next week on the 17th that buzz can last until Tokyo game show on the 23. PS games marketed & 1-3rd party would be there as its home base.

Just wait it out. Cant play PS5 until its delivered to your house/flat.

He's not saying they can't do pre-orders after.. just that if they want to get their announcements out there before XBOX Pre orders start, there's a limited window.

Let's face it, the "game of chicken" never had any teeth to it in reality, it was just fun banter. Neither was considering going any later than September for the price reveal either, not if they are launching in November. In the US anyway, at least one of the major retailers will let their BF ad leak 6 - 8 weeks early, and there you go. I'm sure Sony will come through any day now.

A source who spoke anonymously to Gamereactor, and who has an overview of the situation, confirmed yesterday that when the Xbox Series X launch details were revealed, the PlayStation 5 was "considerably" more expensive.

Such is the fast-moving nature of the business that we're already hearing reports from multiple sources that Sony has taken the decision to slash the price of the PS5 in response to the aggressive price point of the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.

We've heard that Sony is considering pricing the discless PS5 at $399 and the premium edition of the PlayStation will match the Xbox Series X with a $499 price point.
