they marketed the Xbox one as a 1080p console as well. And we know it was mostly a 900p console. At least this thing will run all cross gen games at 1440p.

Sony also marketed the pro as a 4k console while most of the games shipped at 1440p.

It's just business. You lie and hope That the media doesn't call you out on it.

Because it is a 4K console. There are native 4K games that run on Pro. Whether they be graphically demanding or not. The console can run games in native 4K so there is nothing about telling lies to customers.

But we don't know if the hypervisor running BC games is using legacy DirectX APIs or something. Maybe games have to be coded for the Velocity Architecture to get those 2.4GB/sec minimum speeds? But then I don't know why the PC would be faster because it would be using same legacy DX stuff that's in Windows.

I don't know what the heck is going on but they must have tested all this out with some of their first party, like The Coalition and Gears 5. We've seen what it can do - the same game at 120fps - so are all these developers simply lacking the right information?

exactly, that's why i believe va is having some issues. OR XSS uses a really really slow SSD. no biggie though. even with the advertised speed of va, i don't expect the games will design around it. so just a couple more seconds wait time in the loading screen. definitely not the end of the world.

Sony think of the gamers and the developers..... it's about balance. Whereas Xbox seems to be 'fuck the devs and publishers, as long as what the customer sees what benefits them'. But it doesn't really work that way I feel.

i mean tbf they keep saying TARGET of 1440p... there will be games that hit that

so i mean they are not lying and saying its a 1080p machine when it will have 1440p games would be underselling it and that would be the dumbest thing ever lol
 
I think the same 20CU chip clocked the same as the XSX in a slightly bigger box alongside 12GB GDDR6 on a 192-Bit Bus @ 336GB/s (14Gbps) would have been more balanced.

I understand price and entry point is paramount for MS here but it feels to me like devs had a great outlook with PS5/XSX/PC going forward and MS have just let off a giant fart.

Dudes were complaining about the line up. Now this shit looks amazing huh. Its a nice road map for what a year & a half. 1 free game so 17 games.

I will definitely buy 13/17 games. Not buying volcano high too much mtv daria esq vibe thats not a game, come on. I don't see Athia coming out any time soon its called project we know how that goes. Not sold on Stray, Solar Ash & jett are Ps+ level games I might buy maybe ,maybe if they are cheap.

I cant complain its a good road map for first few years. Whats missing a fighter ,shooter ,J-rpg. Apparently there's still stuff to show. I hope PS leave the clip empty,And not put the gun back in the holster. More games ,more games announcement please.

Is that surprising? Mainstream AAAAAAzzz developers wouldn't want to say anything negative about Sony or MS publicly. It would get noticed everywhere and get them into trouble.

Digital Foundry already said many developers don't like the idea of xss.

In comparison to the PS5 we never will. We still don't know about all of Sony's customizations. Let's see how GE and the other added features stack up. When UE5 launches and Sony's Frist Party studios start to utilize streaming I/O PS5 will have the edge graphically. I think it's safe to say the PS5 can do everything the XSX can graphically, but with UE5 and first party titles, some things will only be achievable on PS5.

After reading more about Series S, I think Sony buying exclusives and making partnerships with devs is the best move Sony could do to show PS5 as the true next gen.

This approach of two hardwares from MS is pure garbage. Maybe devs will even think it is best to go with Sony.
 
I honestly think Devs will be able to down scale games. I mean they've been doing it this gen no problem. Devs can complain all they like but that console's price is going to have them sell like hotcakes.
