After seeing the new horizon dawn two trailer or God of war trailer he will be like "BUT BUT GAMEPASS DUDES" LOL

I tried to think of a better reply... But still couldn't get passed the part where they were all arguing with actual devs that voiced concern about the XSS. That's a "step the fuck away" red flag if there ever was one.

And I mean game pass is good. It's a service that I see no value from personally. Plenty of people want to play older games. No issue with that. Issue is that I'm what they don't want... Someone that doesn't ever play old games. So I and others like me have no value to them because it's going to have to take some extensive mental bios upgrade for them to accept a lot of people just prefer the newer shinier 'in' thing and not something from years ago.

I've written about this again, let me do a recap:

Microsoft planned to go digital, and they were offering a very sweet deal compared to existing digital policies (ie PC)
ONE license could be shared among 10 friends. their "friends and family" list.
Now, within the same generation that launched with sony officials fuckin' trolling blatantly microsoft's offering,
we have digital adoption that is very close to 50% and climbing mighty fast.
What's the difference? ONE license is good for ONE person. that's 10X damage for the consumer.
Microsoft was even talking about how you could even transfer (sell) your license digitally to your gamestops and what not, if you wanted to.

Now, I understand that 99% of the people in this thread are not clear-headed enough to understand. That's ok. I'm writing this for the 1%

So what stops Microsoft to have these 10 in 1 deals for digital games? Sony ninjas gonna stab em with playstation brand katanas?

Im sure that multi billion dollar company should be able to deal with these things

I also believe that Zhuge said the XSXs BOM was slightly higher. So I would definitely put more faith in what those two said than Dusk Golem in my opinion.
 
499/399 is the ultimate PS5 price combo.
If they deviate from that (upwards) because the Japanese side wants that (according to that one rumour) it would not be smart at all imho.
Xbox is rightfully aggressive, Sony needs to stay rational.

I mean it doesn't hurt Sony when bogus insiders together with xbox fans say that it takes $600 to produce one unit of PS5. They could be right, that ultra-fast SSD might be costing them a lot.

But really it only helps the PS5 to look like a steal at $499 and $399. I personally think it's costing Sony about a little more than $500 in total to ship a unit of PS5. Sony is definitely taking a loss in my opinion.

They might manufacture more blu-ray editions than digital editions initially in order to reduce the impact of financial loss.

Fact is Bloomberg is way more reliable than Dusk.
Fact is Sony double the production of PS5 to 10 mil. till end of March 2021.
Fact is RAM prices went down.

How PS5 can cost above 500 when production is doubled and BOM is below XSXs BOM up to 70$

The majority of gamers want new games, it's a fact. It's nothing to do with money, as said before, give me all the games since Atari 2600 for free and I won't even start one. I like new games, and I'm always looking for new innovations.

Wild theory time: Warframe is implementing compression via Oodle Textures. Since Destiny 2 signed the marketing with Microsoft and Game Pass, Sony needs a big F2P game to show off. So they'll probably show next-gen Warframe with some crazy things... I mean, even Rebecca from Digital Extremes was on that "Welcome to PS5" video.

Chances of that happening: 0%. I just like to run wild theories.

Even Bloomberg is just guessing based on publicly known bulk prices ( most of the time higher than actual in the world of bulk sales and large scale projects). This really depends on how much Sony is expected to sell and how that can influence the negotiations.

Also the price of the console is not based on the cost of the first year units but rather on the cost forcast in the longer term and how much is the profit forecast in that same time frame.

Also if sony sees high demand on their console then they may not worry much about launch year price😂 they can keep it as high as they can and reduce it in a 2nd year. PS3 was able to sell 88 million despite a first year of 599. The market is much bigger now and Phil Spencer's Xbox is not Peter Moore' s Xbox.

the short-sighted and gullible console crowd was thriving with that ps4 share video, and took that digital policy and shoved it deep into microsoft's ass.
not only ms had to run and revert everything, but it also cost them 50% of their place in the market and a tremendous amount of bad publicity.

why should they bring it back now, when digital absorption is the rule and not something as ground-breaking as they were trying to introduce back then?
and why would they even take that risk of having some corporate trolls causing them even more damage?

my 2c's is that next time the console crowds receive an offer for something groundbreaking, it would be wise if they use their brains for a change.

Dusk may get a couple things right(Shenmue anime, etc.) but there's no way Sony comes in at $549. What Sony pays for components is anyone's real guess, honestly.

You can't assert your position positively as market leader and take the wind out of the competition by coming out with a price that high.

Moreover, you would have a more difficult time ensuring the "quick transition" that Sony has said they've wanted to try and make happen.

Again, you can't speak to what loss they are willing to take. We know Microsoft is taking a loss on both X and S(with loss on S being probably higher).

It is vexing to me how Sony, somehow, is incapable of taking a loss in the minds of some like Dusk. It's just such a reach..but for Microsoft its no big deal. Sony isn't some dirt poor company.

The truth PS5 is cheaper to produce the Series X...

- APU is cheaper
- PCB/Motherboard are cheaper
- Bus and ram layout are cheaper

What is out in question if it is expensive the SSD or cooling but there is no way the difference offsets the APU difference for example... imagine the rest.
