Fantastic show. The mad men STARTED with FFXVI and included the bomb that it'd be a console exclusive.
Motherfucking Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition available ON LAUNCH.
Demon's Souls and Spider-Man: Miles Morales look incredible.
God of War: Ragnarok(?) announced at the end. Are we getting Horizon AND this in 2021? If so, that's insane.
Prices are exactly what everyone anticipated, which is good. And the thing is launching a week earlier than I personally expected.

No Silent Hill, but whatever, I'm very satisfied. I don't know what sort of ridiculous show anyone claiming to be disappointed was expecting in only 40 minutes.
 
Just got blueballled by that God of War teaser.. but fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck! 2021??????? WOW!

Weird conference, packed with megatons at start and end. But, the mid part with CoD, DMC5, Oddworld just sucked all the air out of it.

Absolutely right on the money pricing from Sony, sucks to be paying $100 premium for a disc drive but I can understand why they went to $399 for Digital Edition. $299 Series S is going to be an incredibly hard sell. For just $100 more you can get more storage, and a significantly more powerful machine, and of course the elusive PS catalog.

Disappointed to not see Demons as a launch title, but at least the game looked absolutely sick. Major disruptor/wildcard is that PS+ Collection thing, that's basically aimed at being a temp? GamePass equivalent for new buyers. $10 and basically you are getting access to all PS4 hits.

Sony know what they are doing, even with oddball pacing, content on the show was incredibly strong.

This might surprise you, but just because you only like PS doesn't mean that others don't want inexpensive access to the Xbox ecosystem in addition or instead of.
 
I guess I'm the only one blown back by the lack of when pre order details. I actually liked the stream oversall, and gameplay seems like it was shown. I liked the Harry Potter reveal and much of the other stuff that we hadn't seen before.

It has more to do with my personal expectations more than anything tbh! For example, for a fan of JRPGs this show must've been pretty good!
I'm more of an open-world kinda of guy, with some FPS (CoD checked that box!), and linear games (Uncharted, Plague's Tale)

I said this early but was lost in the chaos.

I serious thought Demon Souls looked CG. The animations threw me off. Blue Point, so far anyway, has nailed it. Absolutely want to see more.
 
Wow. Just wow. Great mix of games shown..yeah all of them aren't for me, but it's not JUST about me. :) I think new Spider-Man looks awesome and the Demons Souls remake blew me away. I'm all in for that! Didn't see a release date on that one though? I must have missed it...watching a stream while working isn't optimal.

As for the pricing....about what I've been figuring. Impressed that they took the plunge on the Digital Edition but it makes sense as they'll make more off of those games. Also..for $100 more than an Xbox Series S you get a VASTLY more powerful machine? Series S is still going to be the choice for those who prioritize budget above all (nothing wrong with that), but for a lot of people, the selling points of having a super powerful, FULL "next gen" machine that will handle 4k and all of that for just $100 more..especially with how much faster the PS5 will APPEAR to be as well due to that MONSTER SSD drive and I/O... Yeah, that has the potential to really hurt Series S sales. But we'll see.

But about that 'Monster SSD' comment. WTF do we have to do to get to SEE the system in action? UI? How fast a game loads up? You know.....BASICS???!!! I suppose there's plenty of time for that and MS hasn't shown that either, but damn...I'd think that would be one of the FIRST things to show on this system to help drive up those pre-orders. Oh, and GameStop still can't pre-order them (I just called them), so WTF is up with actually MAKING a pre-order??? Enquiring minds want to know... :)

Overall, great showcase and I think they really made a lot of people happy with the pricing in addition to making a lot of people SAD about the pricing (you know who you are!). I'm just glad I was right on the price points. I think this explains upping the manufacturing number of units, etc. Because Covid or not...they should sell TONS of these. Will be interesting to see how sales break down between regular and Digital Editions, both in the launch window as well as down the line. I expect the regular PS5 to outsell the DE by a fairly wide margin at least at first, but....3 years from now? Very curious about how that will shake out.

Overall very well done by Sony. Now give us the UI and game launch demos.....PLEASE! I don't even care so much about the tear down though that would be cool. I just want to see this thing IN ACTION!

Personal comments: Bluepoint really wanted to make the protagonist more vocal. He groans, he huffs, he sighs, he shouts as he swings his weapon and moans as he gets hit. Special effects galore - you can see steam coming out of the demon's eyes/mouth as he swings his demon axe to crush you. The environments are breathtaking - I'm going to walk a lot in this game and prevent myself from running.

it's just another benefit of having PS Plus. If you have PS Plus, you will be able to download and play all of those titles they showed, right from the start on your PS5. So basically, a bunch of free games come with your PS5 as long as you have or sign up for PS Plus.
