Seems like it might still be on the Ps5, but not a featured app, so who knows at this point. I guess it still could suggest a fairly cool relationship between the two companies - which makes sense given what Amazon are up to.

Sounds like there's going to be more at launch than just the highlighted, but no HBO Max is surprising. Since it's not on Roku TV, I've only been able to use it on my PS4 so hoping it's there at or around day 1 on PS5.

oh i suspect if you are playing fighting games then latency is probably even more important. yeah, just run some tests with the cable and the wifi and see what you get for latency. i currently have a wifi5 router and get 10-12 ms latency, but when i had the wifi 6 router for a couple of days, i was getting 8 ms even for non wifi6 devices which i believe is what you will get with an ethernet cable.Brilliant thanks for the information. Yeah but that's like saying PS5 and Xbox Series S are the same, they both run games. I just find it typical that Microsoft comes with a new feature to enhance their BC offering even more, and you are trying to downplay it by saying that it's the same as your TV is doing.

Personally, who do you attract with a console whose main function is BC?
- To the owners of PS4 / PS4 pro I think not, they already have it in their libraries.
- To Xbox owners who already have the One or the One X that does the same function?
- To PC owners?
I think XB is strangling itself right now, losing customers to PC, giving customers to PS5.
Since the other two offers cover the same as you practically among their new generation equipment, your own old ones. MS wants to sell GamePass and Xbox is secondary it seems to me.
With GP they could go gold but currently Xbox seems to me a product with little use value compared to its two competitors and quite equal in use value, with respect to its previous generation.
In 2 years when the devs present games we will be able to evaluate how that use value has grown, but currently it is quite low.

It'll definitely support Dolby Vision/Atmos for media. For gaming they got a superior sound solution in the Tempest 3D audio to Atmos, and for HDR there is still nothing about Dolby Vision.

I am not trying to downplay it, I have downplayed it because I already have it for past years. FFS.
DF also said its the same as the 4K LG TV is doing, the difference maybe in latency depending on the TV model and how good the TV processor is if you watched the actual DF the video.
I dont know how good some TVs are and which ones are better than others, I just have my TV a OLED 55 LG.
I dont care for it, it looks poor to me and I explaiend why, it saturates and is non selective and picks out every shiny item on the image which is annoying after a while (same as DF have said).
I tried for a few days and dont use it anymore, maybe you will like it.

Why can't I decide which streaming services I want on the bottom buttons?
I know, because those companies paid a lot of money to be on that controller.
Almost guaranteed we will also have to go through a portal on the PS5 to get to the streaming service we want, like they currently do on the PS4. Again, Sony making money off of that.
I hope at least I can switch back over to YouTube from a game, without going through that stupid annoying unnecessary extra layer portal.

Partnerships like this are more about aligning brands than strictly advertising, much like influencer marketing (at this level anyway).

You do understand that ML and Neural nextwork type training requires a rarget image or frame to compare against.
As there is no HDR in the original game, you dont need ML training.
Technical marketing can call any algorithm ML, its likely a simple polynomial curve, sounds good for the masses.
Maybe you should call it Machine learning adaptive velolocity super sampled machine learning HDR, sounds good to me.

Seeing Tom Holland as Drake makes me think he'll be playing a younger version of him. Which probably means the next Uncharted game will be a semi reboot, where we play a younger Drake, before the events of the first game. Maybe we'll learn how Nate first met characters like Chloe, Flynn, Charlie or Eddie (since he already knows all of them when they're first introduced to us).

Could be, but would rather buy that google dongle instead. I have no problems with my Android Sony nor LG's other system with netflix, maybe other apps? Well, the LG gives me some problems with youtube ads that sometimes it stalls after the ad.

I have to agree here. Sony tv's also have Xtended Dynamic range. Put it on High and it makes bright things retina scorching. The difference between using it on sdr vs genuine hdr signal would require a side by side comparison to tell a difference.

My sony tvs with android TV were absolute shit. Had the x900e/f and my God the avs forums were flooded with complaints.
Hulu not sending a 5.1 signal out. Netflix not being friendly with HDR.
I can see why it's there and would have a reason to use it.

Well my LG is old, 2015 4K with no HDR. But the only problem is it does stall/crash after ads on youtube. I only use youtube and netflix on my smart tv's. On my 2016 HDR 4K Sony it works perfect. Both work good overall, no major complaints.

I have a high end sony TV on the same wall, I have not checked the hDR feaure of the Sony as I prefer the subtlety of LG OLED and those contrast blacks give a pixture which is not trying to poke my eyes. I am too old for that shit.

Well, who puts their TV in any mode except game mode? Letting your TV do any serious processing will introduce lag that won't help with your online gaming!
Might be OK for a slow paced third person shooter, but that's it.

There's trade offs and benefits to it, as with many features of next-gen, if the developers feel it will benefit what they're trying to achieve then that will be up to them. Don't see the need to downplay it.

20 vs 60 ms. I played with it a bit, as I said, it looks poor and I did it for a few days as its fake HDR every white thing on the screen.
Even some games that are made for HDR look poor, only a few good ones that get it right and its a pleasing effect.

I suspect Sony had sent PS5s to relevant outlets to begin previews and reviews, they are just under heavy NDAs and won't reveal content for another week or so.
A lot of the Xbox content has been pretty tame, mostly relating to OS and BC stuff. Now I appreciate any info I can get, but when some of them start streaming in 240p from their phone, you question if MS made the right decision

Why it is more consumer friendly to have it name on the buttons and most consumers won't config remote control buttons... that is why 3rd-party products exists for niche parcel of the consumers.
Imagine having labels 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the buttons and you have to remember what you configured to each one lol

I'm not convinced any ML is needed for this auto hdr business. It should be nothing more than remapping a compressed range to a wider one.
I suppose it can be based on offline normalisation of the entire games pallet vs a tv's hdr fakery working on a per frame basis in isolation only. But even then, not convinced the difference would be pronounced. May even be detrimental to some titles vs a dynamic approach, e.g. GTA 4 problems wouldn't be an issue on a per frame implementation.

Refined in terms of latency was the context. If you believe it looks better thats up to you. As I said, to me it looks the same. TRhats what Subjective opinion is.
DF did not say the range or delta or any scientific comparison other than latency, and it adds 40 ms to my TV, not that I care as I dont use it anymore.
The technique whether by MS or LG, is Loose in terms of scaling evey white and bright object on the screen indiscrimiately to the point it looks horrible in many cases unless you have a game with only a few bright objects and its dark. Even then it enhances every object equally. Nobody can refute that.
