Netflix runs at glorious 4K on my ps4 pro but becomes slow and pixilated on TV. I assume many TVs are slow and not optimal. Specially that most people buy low end TVs

Yes I understand how ML works; apparently you don't.
Even DLSS doesn't train on specific games anymore; and when it did, it obviously could not train on every possible combination of frames in order to improve a game.

So I digress; you have no fucking clue how advanced MS's auto-HDR is compared to LGs... but I honestly think you'd have to be insane to think MS's doesn't have more power behind it in every way possible.. hardware power, engineering expertise, being trained on more content, etc. MS's is far more likely to get updated too.. and might even have game specific updates where they train on a specific game by finding like content.. a game with a similar style that DOES have HDR, etc.
DLSS works on about 12 games, dont give me that DLSS applies to everything easy marketing PR. I am not stupid. DLSS is also selective and as such is more ML than a filter, a filter is non selective,
So you think LG auto HDR using a DSP is crap and MS is better based on what exacly - ah the best engineers on the planet and no data to back your superiority claim other than its MS and Phil.
I said they look same enough to me, I have looked at both. Your arguement is based on whatever.
Also if you apply something equally to all pixels on a screen, that is an algorithm or FILTER as its not selective. Facts.
DF said MS was more refined with latency benefit....but did not elaborate further.

I have a Smart TV (Samsung KS8000) and uninstall all the apps and disconnect it, all the 'smart' features and apps are just terrible and then they have the audacity to push ads to me
I use the Nvidia Shield for all smart features, a lot faster and apps and system software constantly updated to have the latest versions of apps.
I wish 55" OLED dumb TVs (monitors) were more of a thing. As long as they fully supported HDMI-CEC, eArc, HDR, VRR and all that shit, if be happy. Just give me a good quality picture without all the crap.

It's supposed to be a prequel to the games when Drake was younger. I think in those circumstances Holland will be great.

Well... in my setup for example...I have no way to use headphones. So if I need to keep the TV very quiet for any reason, being able to watch Netflix or whatever and use my headset with the PS4 Pro comes in handy. I haven't done it A LOT...and the PS4 is a bit slow...but it works just fine.
So while I don't think it's a huge deal, I'm glad I'll be able to do that with the PS5 if I WANT to. Options are always good.

Yeah, if they start it with a prequel story or two, he's at a good age to where they could even do the later stories if they wanted and by the time they get there, he'd look more like a full grown adult.

Hmm, maybe you guys use more apps than I do. But genuinely speaking I've been pretty happy with both with only that minor problem with my LG that sometimes stops resuming the video after an ad, and sometimes can't connect to wifi even if the signal is full because of some bug.
Maybe it's like lottery? Some have problems and some don't?

My TV's aren't top end. The LG LCD 4K was around $1000 back then for 55" in 2015 (living room), and my current Sony XD70 HDR 4K is around the same price in 2016 for 55" as well (bedroom). I tried watching 4K HDR on my Sony and it looks great and very clean, 1080p content also upscales perfectly. Tried to watch netflix through my PC which is highly specced and it looks worse and slightly pixelated compared to the native app inside the tv, much more superior. Also use 5-10m 3.5 aux wire with a splitter to watch movies while the kid is sleeping.

The XSX will be the best place to play all the next gen multiplatform games from day 1, not just 2 years from now. As for the first party exclusives, that's no longer an issue for Xbox. Keep up with the news. I suspect that's why all of a sudden, only the first 2 years of the generation matter to many people on this forum.
This is the first generation that won't be decided by which console had the most or best exclusives although the answer is likely to be Xbox.
The best strategy will win.

But I love how you gloss over the fact you are blatantly wrong about how ML works.. lol.. you don't need to train on the exact source material to apply ML algorithms.
And I never said MS has the best engineers on the planet.. they certainly have far more experienced engineers in this area than LG does.. and more processing power. It's pretty basic logic to suggest their tech is likely better.. but like I said, I don't know that for a fact, it's just.. basic logic.

I don't mind the option, but would rather give the console a rest. But you can mate your bluetooth headset with your tv. So, you can have like a bluetooth heaphones mated to the screen, but not sure if it can have 2. I use a wire on the Sony, but not all TV's have 3.5 aux out as it seems, then use a splitter for 2 headphones:
I use 2 of those for 10m to the bed (it's 6-7 meters away from the tv, might upgrade to 65-75" X900H).
And get any kinda headphones, and enjoy with your wife at full volume without rattling the house or getting police calls from your neighbors.
Surprisingly, the surround feels pretty decent even after all those cheap ass extensions and using Sony Xperia Z3 headphone, pretty cheap ones now you get them in Aliexpress, never felt any small headphones to have such good bass and quality due to them having big and clear drivers:

Because like humans, not all TVs are equally smart
Most people I know own 4-7 year old TVs and those apps are getting slow/not supported.
With modern 4k tv with fast SoC it doesnt matter as much, but older tvs can be laggy.
I once had to start movie on netflix for over 60 Times, because the app sometimes crashes after few seconds. Took me like hour or more to do this, until I gave up
I just wanted to see how many times it could crash in a row.PS4 app works always.
Almost bought Sony xh90 55" from 899€ super sale this week to replace my 6 years old fullhd Sony. But I want oled so gotta wait for few years more before they are under 1000€

If you watch the videos, you can see its a filter as unwanted stuff also gets hDR effect, even white text.
To me HDR ona a screen is a selective effect chosen such as a sun, or fire or NEON, when its every bright and shiny object its over saturation and not pleasing and thats a filter.
I am just going by eye only, if you want to analyse the brightness increase of those shiny pixels feel free, my point is all bright objects HDR shine, all of them.
MY TV does a filter also, it may have slightly differing parameters which you could play with ISF and expert settings for days, but HDR every bright item is annoying I found and it looked same to me.

You might be right; but my point was.. we don't really know.. it's entirely possible their ML algorithm is selective but failing in some scenarios. It is according to DF adjusted per game (which makes it hard for me to think it isn't selective, although DF can also be wrong). They certainly have more processing power and engineering muster than LG.. I don't know why you think that's laughable or have to resort to putting words in my mouth for such basic facts.

Will it have the best load times for games, do i have to sit around while the competition is already playing games, that does not sound like the best place to play games.

You have seen the quotes about the new dirt game, it's a multiple plat and guess what, they both have the same performance settings as the ps5.
Assassins creed another game, the developers have said the same thing, same options.

PS5 is going to do monster numbers based on name alone. Throw in the games coming at launch and in 2021 and it's going to be a bloodbath. Xbox had a great opportunity to have a good start to the gen if they had been able to put some good new next gen experiences on the console (i.e. a Halo, a Forza). Instead they've fumbled the ball and are having to push the '4000 launch games' line because they don't have a single good exclusive for launch. You know it's troubling times when Xbox fanboys like McCafferey are speaking out.

Could you tell me what MAJOR difference we've seen so far with third-parties that makes the Series X the DEFINITIVE console for multiplat games? Because so far, I haven't seen any yet and don't think we're gonna see any major differences throughout this generation because of 1.87 more TFLOPs. There's more to the console architecture than just a theoretical TFLOPs number, it's a useless metric when it comes to comparing performance with another system.

There isn't an HBO Max app on LG OLEDs so I have to use the PS4/5 for that. Everything else though I use the built-in apps.

It's a mixed bag out there; but there are also home theater setups where it's a pain to get 5.1 using TV apps. ARC and all that doesn't always work well for everyone.
Also some people game on monitors... just nice to have options.

Removable face plate, with buttons that you can mix/add/remove, but of course Sony then can not make money off those streaming services if they did that. Those are product placements. Sony is certainly not doing it for consumer friendliness, any more than other controllers by other manufacturers streaming boxes.
Some might say those buttons can get lost, and the kids might take the thing apart, etc. Yes, like the batteries can be removed and messed with.
Sony has some good engineers, I'm sure they could come up with a good solution. I know I could, and I'm not an engineer.
Exactly. Not on the Desktop, but inside another app, that you have to enter to get to the service you want. Same as the PS4. An extra unnecessary layer.
That's all I have to say on the matter, as I'm just repeating myself, but it's good to debate for clarity.
