Crap, just watched the verge mobile show and they said the black was better than the white version. I knew I should've ordered the black but went with white for something different this time. Anyone with order the white version having second thoughts?

Placed a pre-order for when the phone releases here in Sweden next week. Black 16GB model, as that's apparently the only one getting released here (at least initially). Still ridiculous that I'm gonna have to pay 4300 SEK (about $659, or $528 excluding VAT) for it, but that's how it is when you live in a country not embraced by Google's love.

Not 100% sure I'm actually gonna pick it up (won't pay anything for it until I do), given the issues people are talking about (XDA is just bursting with people complaining about various things - although I guess that's a vocal minority, and people with no issues to report simply don't say anything), but I do need a new phone. Lost my Galaxy Nexus a while back, and have been using a borrowed SGS3 since then. Not a big fan.

The T-Mobile I went to tried to charge is 20 dollars for a new micro. Kinda ridiculous.

That's pretty awful. My carrier just gives me a new SIM for free if I walk into one of their stores and ask for one (which I've had to do a few times, due to losing phones and such). It's a little piece of plastic that basically costs them nothing, so you'd think it'd be more important to keep customers happy than charge ridiculous prices for things that don't really cost anything (and that you need to be able to actually use the services you're paying the carrier for).

UPS didn't show until damn near 8pm.

But I finally got it.

unlocked and rooted, just sucked that I couldn't see Google's texts or get a phone call for 2 tier account activation until I was BEYOND that screen... Also bluetooth took forever to turn on for some reason but once that was done everything synched up just fine with my car.

Still trying to decide on a case though, and still wishing I had gone for the 32Gb, already down to just 6.5Gb free after bringing my music over.

edit: my carrier wanted $20 for a sim too, but since my old sim was 3g only I kinda had to upgrade :(

edit #2: holy seizure warning at the image below

Report back if you were able to obtain one. My local Sprint store said they will never carry SIM cards other than the ones shipped with their devices. However, you'll probably have more luck if your Sprint store also does repairs.

I was able to order one - but if you ordered one over chat within the last couple days you will likely be waiting at least 10 days - possibly more - because all SIM cards are on backorder.

If I get the 10 days bs I will just break from my family's plan and go to $30 TMobile

So question with the hangout/SMM app. Is there a way to just show the people on my contact list and not on my Google+ list? I would like to use hangouts as my main SMM app but this is just really annoying me atm.

Got the phone a couple hours ago. Really liking it. Feels much more responsive compared to the s4 I used a couple months ago.

Gonna be tough to decide between this or keeping my 5s. It all depends how the battery holds up the next couple days.

I mentioned this a bunch of times in this thread already. It had more to do with cutting the SIM to fit, but it also applies to any carrier that says you need to buy a new SIM card.

There's no difference between the SIM you just bought and the one you just tossed. Your SIM wasn't 3G only and your carrier asking for $20 for a new one is BS and most likely just trying to get more money from you.

If you haven't had it activated yet, I'd return it.

The only thing a SIM really does is hold some info about you, some security stuff, some carrier info, and device ID. There's some extra, but it's not worth going into. That's all, the SIM basically says you + your phone are allowed on this network.

If your old phone was 3G only, your carrier/SIM would have most likely been programmed to be on the 3G network. When you got the new phone and popped in your old SIM, it was still recognized on your old account settings, so no LTE.

All you have to do is call in and say, "My phone supports LTE, I would like to be placed on the LTE network." They will register the SIM to your new phone/IMEI on the LTE network. There is no such thing as a separate 3G or 4G/LTE SIM card.

If you're going the T-Mobile route, you can do what I did to avoid paying for the SIM (though I did so accidentally).

Go into T-Mobile and ask for a microSIM. The gal at my local store just gave me one. But just get the SIM and not the $10 SIM activation kit (which they probably won't give you anyway if you tell them you want the $30 plan).

Then call up T-Mobile customer service, tell them that the folks at the store forgot to give you an activation code with the SIM, and they'll take you through the activation process, no problem.

In the end, I didn't have to pay a dime for the microSIM.

I'm on ATT, coming from a HTC ONE X. Is there supposed to be a LTE status next to the signal bar or they took that out? I can't tell what kind of single I'm receiving (3G/ LTE, etc). Did they just take this out for the status bar?

Anyone else got a dead pixel? The DP fix it apparently doesn't help. What's Google's policy on this one, do I have to send my device and get back in the que? ;(

Yeah it says LTE by the signal icon.

Well, no Nexus 5 for me today because UPS failed to deliver.

They continue to do this, they put the sticker on my door but don't attempt to dial me on the entry system (which is tied to a landline so I can't miss it), even though I am HOME and available. It is really starting to make me fume. I wonder if I'd get anywhere if I filed a complaint.

I'm worried about this silly finish rubbing off. I've had a few phones with a finish similar to this but not quite the same and they all seem to become shiny over time as they rub down. At least we can replace the back of this phone very easily.

Since mine says it's supposed to ship on the 8th I guess it's in the 2nd shipment. I hope they get enough to keep to their schedule.

What number did you call to order your sim? I've been fighting with people for hours saying that I have to wait until Friday and then go to a Sprint Store.

Here is what you need to do to get a SIM mailed to you:
Call 1-888-226-7212
At first voice prompt, Enter your phone number or confirm that you are calling from your phone
Press 2 for "otherwise..."
Press 2 for "International voice or data service"
Then you will go into the call queue and wait for an operator

Explain that you need a SIM card for your new Nexus 5 that you purchased directly from Google mailed to you and that you are unable to visit a store to get one. They couldn't find the Nexus 5 in the system, but they checked with a supervisor and found the same one that will work. They even said it would come via FedEx, but probably wouldn't go out until Monday or Tuesday. All for no charge

So I just sold my iPhone 5 for £345. I'll be ordering my Nexus as soon as the money goes in later today. That 32GB N5 will be mine come next Monday.

Is there anyway to add more home screens to the default launcher, or are we stuck with two? Seems to make widgets a bit redundant. :-(

I really like the Google Now integration, I hope 3rd party launchers are able to use this feature.

Drag a app icon/folder/widget to the right edge and pop a new screen should be created

As a follow up to this, the Nexus 5 uses the same type of Sim as the Sprint Galaxy S4. Some Sprint employees think the Nexus has its own special Sim card and therefore it's not in stock (read this on some Sprint based forums)

I'm still pending and it still says leaves warehouse by November 5th. I guess Google is going to go back in time and send my Nexus 5 to me. They are really doing me favor by supposedly giving me a shipping refund if it doesn't ship by Friday. Horrible fucking experience.
